Lisa was broke, jobless, and desperate.
Which was why she was currently sitting in a fancy office, nervously sweating as a woman with a sharp gaze and an expensive dress read her resume in silence. The air conditioning was on full blast, yet Lisa could feel beads of sweat forming at the back of her neck. The longer the silence stretched, the more she regretted her life choices.
Jennie Kim.
The biggest celebrity in South Korea. The queen of the industry. The face of luxury brands. And, according to the internet, the boss from hell.
Lisa swallowed hard. Why did she apply to be Jennie's manager again?
Jennie finally looked up, her expression unreadable. "You don't have experience."
Lisa panicked. "I have experience! I once managed a—uh—fried chicken shop?"
An eyebrow lifted. "A fried chicken shop?"
Lisa nodded aggressively. "Yes! It was very stressful! Customers yelled at me every day! And I had to handle a crazy boss! Just like here!"
Silence. Lisa blinked, replaying her words in her head, and her stomach dropped.
"Oh my god, wait, no— not YOU—"
Jennie smirked, eyes glinting with amusement. "Interesting."
Lisa felt her soul leave her body.
Jennie leaned back, as if already making a decision. "You're hired."
Lisa choked on air. "WHAT?!"
Jennie's smirk widened. "You'll make my life more entertaining."
Lisa internally screamed.
And that was how she ended up with the worst job of her life.
Being Jennie's manager was a nightmare. Every single day, Lisa woke up regretting her existence. Jennie was impossible to handle. She was demanding, unpredictable, and slightly terrifying. Lisa had a growing list of job complaints:
"Wake me up at 7 AM," Jennie had ordered. Lisa tried. Jennie threw a pillow at her face and groaned, "Five more minutes."
"No sugar in my coffee," Jennie reminded her one morning. Lisa forgot. Jennie took one sip, gagged dramatically, and collapsed onto the floor like she'd been poisoned.
"Don't let fans get too close." A fan flirted with Lisa once. Jennie had grabbed Lisa's wrist and dragged her away like a jealous girlfriend.
Lisa suffered. Every day.
But then, one day, after another chaotic event, Lisa collapsed onto the couch backstage, completely drained. Jennie strolled over and sat beside her.
"Tired?" she asked, her voice softer than usual.
Lisa groaned. "Jennie, you're like... a very expensive toddler."
Jennie's lips quirked. "So, I'm adorable?"
Lisa sighed. "You're impossible."
Jennie smirked. "And yet, you're still here."
Lisa froze.
Wait. She was still here.
Despite Jennie being spoiled, dramatic, and a pain in the ass... Lisa actually liked spending time with her. And that realization hit her like a truck.
She was doomed.
Lisa was just trying to do her job. That was it. She wasn't expecting a famous actress to flirt with her at an afterparty. And she definitely wasn't expecting Jennie to suddenly appear at her side, standing between them.
Lisa blinked in confusion. "Huh?"
Jennie turned to the actress, her voice sickly sweet. "Lisa's busy. You should go."
The actress, clearly intimidated, muttered a quick goodbye and fled.
Lisa gawked. "Jennie! You scared her!"
Jennie looked unbothered. "Good."
Lisa stared at her in disbelief. "Wait. Were you... JEALOUS?"
Jennie huffed, crossing her arms. "No."
Lisa grinned. "YOU WERE."
Jennie looked away. "Shut up."
Lisa laughed for ten minutes.
Later that night, Lisa ranted to Jisoo. "Jennie is driving me crazy! She's spoiled! She's dramatic! She—"
Jisoo cut her off. "You're in love with her."
Lisa choked. "EXCUSE ME?!"
She denied it, of course. She wasn't in love. That was ridiculous.
And then Jennie got sick.
She refused to rest, so Lisa picked her up, carried her to bed, and tucked her in.
Jennie, despite looking half-dead, still had the audacity to smirk. "You're so sweet, manager-nim."
Lisa panicked. "SHUT UP AND SLEEP."
Jennie giggled. "You like me."
Lisa internally screamed.
Because... maybe Jennie was right.
Lisa handled the situation the only way she knew how—by avoiding Jennie for an entire week.
Jennie, of course, did not like this.
One day, she cornered Lisa in her dressing room. "Why are you avoiding me?"
Lisa sweated. "I—I'm not—"
Jennie stepped closer, eyes narrowing. "Lalisa."
Lisa froze.
Jennie smirked, voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "You really think you can escape me?"
Lisa turned red.
Jennie leaned in, eyes glinting. "Just admit it."
Lisa panicked. And, in her panic, she blurted out the worst thing possible.
"I THINK I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU."
Silence.
Lisa's soul left her body.
Jennie grinned. "See? That wasn't so hard."
Lisa gaped. "WAIT, YOU KNEW?!"
Jennie laughed. "Of course. I was just waiting for you to catch up."
Lisa facepalmed. "I hate you."
Jennie leaned in and kissed her cheek. "Congratulations. You're now my girlfriend."
Lisa short-circuited. "...Wait, what?"
Jennie smirked. "Did you think I was letting you go? Cute."
Lisa had a heart attack.
She was doomed. Completely and utterly doomed.
