Jennie had always known that Lisa was different. Not in the way the world saw her—a radiant performer, an incredible dancer, a magnet for attention—but in the way Lisa herself remained blissfully unaware of it.
Lisa wasn't just kind; she was effortlessly charming. The problem? She didn't even realize when someone was flirting with her.
And Jennie? Jennie noticed everything.
It started as an ordinary evening at the café. The four of them—Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé—had decided to grab a late-night coffee after their rehearsal. The place was dimly lit, warm with the scent of roasted beans and sweet pastries. Jennie was sipping her iced Americano when she caught sight of the waitress eyeing Lisa a little too intently.
"Here's your caramel macchiato," the waitress said, a sugary smile plastered on her lips as she placed the cup in front of Lisa.
"Oh! Thank you," Lisa responded cheerfully, not noticing the way the waitress leaned a bit too close, the way her fingers brushed Lisa's lightly before retreating.
"Is there anything else I can get you?" the waitress asked, her voice sickeningly sweet.
Lisa tilted her head, considering it seriously. "Hmm, maybe a muffin? What do you recommend?"
Jennie clenched her jaw.
"She recommends getting lost," Jennie muttered under her breath, loud enough for Jisoo to snort beside her.
Rosé, oblivious to the growing tension, smiled. "Ooh, I'd love a muffin too. What flavors do you have?"
The waitress, who had been staring at Lisa the entire time, barely acknowledged Rosé's question.
Lisa, meanwhile, was utterly clueless. She simply nodded along as the waitress continued talking, completely unaware of how hard Jennie was gripping her cup, her nails pressing against the plastic.
Finally, unable to take it any longer, Jennie stood up abruptly. "I'll go get our orders."
Lisa blinked up at her. "You sure, Nini?"
Jennie shot her a tight-lipped smile. "Positive."
When she reached the counter, she gave the waitress a look. Not the charming smile Lisa always had—no, this was sharp, unreadable, laced with irritation. "Listen," Jennie said smoothly, "Lisa's not interested."
The waitress looked taken aback. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me." Jennie's voice was soft, but firm. "She's too nice to realize you're flirting, but I'm not. So back off."
The waitress opened her mouth as if to protest, but something in Jennie's gaze made her reconsider. She swallowed and nodded. "I—I was just being friendly."
Jennie smirked. "Sure."
By the time she returned to the table, Lisa was already happily talking to Jisoo about some new dance routine, completely oblivious to the tension that had just unfolded. Jennie sat down with a sigh, sipping her coffee as she studied Lisa.
How could someone be this unaware? Did Lisa truly not see how much Jennie loved her?
Jennie wasn't just jealous over small things. She wasn't possessive for no reason. It was just... Lisa belonged to her, even if Lisa didn't know it yet.
Things only got worse when they attended a fan event. Lisa, being Lisa, had always been affectionate with their fans. She smiled easily, laughed at every joke, signed autographs with genuine warmth. It wasn't her fault, really. But Jennie hated it.
Especially when one particular fan—a girl with long, dyed-blonde hair—decided she was just a little too interested in Lisa.
"Lisa-unnie," the fan purred, leaning close as she handed over a plushie. "I made this for you. I spent weeks sewing it by hand."
Lisa beamed, taking the plushie with both hands. "Wow, really? That's so sweet of you! Thank you so much!"
Jennie's grip on her marker tightened. The fan wasn't even trying to be subtle—her fingers brushed against Lisa's as she handed over a small handwritten letter. Lisa, in her usual airheaded way, took it without thinking, slipping it into her pocket without even reading it.
Jennie had to physically stop herself from rolling her eyes.
As the fan event went on, Jennie kept watching. She noticed how Lisa giggled at every compliment, how she accepted gifts without a second thought, how she didn't even realize how much these girls adored her.
It was infuriating.
Finally, as they headed backstage, Jennie couldn't hold it in anymore. "Lisa."
Lisa, still smiling from the event, turned to her. "Hmm?"
Jennie took a deep breath. "Do you have any idea how many girls were flirting with you tonight?"
Lisa frowned, genuinely confused. "Flirting? What do you mean?"
Jennie exhaled sharply. "Oh my god, you're impossible."
Lisa laughed. "Nini, you always get so worked up over nothing."
"It's not nothing!" Jennie snapped, surprising both of them. "You don't even notice when people flirt with you. You just... you smile and act all sweet and—"
Lisa tilted her head. "Wait... is that why you've been acting weird? Because you think people are flirting with me?"
Jennie crossed her arms, looking away. "They don't just flirt with you. They're obsessed with you."
Lisa blinked. Then, slowly, a grin spread across her face. "Are you... jealous?"
Jennie's face burned. "No."
Lisa stepped closer, her voice teasing. "You so are."
Jennie turned to leave, but Lisa caught her wrist, pulling her back gently. "Jennie."
The way Lisa said her name made Jennie's heart stutter.
Lisa wasn't slow about everything.
Just about love.
Jennie swallowed hard. "You're mine."
Lisa's eyes widened slightly, the teasing fading into something softer. "Jennie..."
Jennie sighed, shaking her head. "Forget it."
She tried to pull away, but Lisa didn't let her go. Instead, Lisa lifted Jennie's chin with her fingers, forcing their eyes to meet.
"You should've just told me," Lisa murmured.
Jennie's breath hitched. "Told you what?"
"That you love me."
And before Jennie could protest, Lisa kissed her.
Soft, warm, and so painfully slow that Jennie thought she might explode.
Lisa might have been oblivious before.
But now, she knew exactly who she belonged to.
