Jennie Kim prided herself on being cool, composed, and completely in control of her emotions. That was, until Lisa Manoban entered her life like a chaotic tornado in sneakers.
Lisa was her annoying, too-happy, way-too-clumsy roommate. They had been living together for a year now, and Jennie had lost count of how many times Lisa had tripped over air, broken something expensive, or made the most embarrassing public scene possible. It was exhausting.
And yet, somehow, Jennie found herself hopelessly in love with her.
One evening, Jennie was curled up on the couch, scrolling through her phone, a blanket draped over her legs and a cup of tea resting on the coffee table. It was supposed to be a peaceful night—until Lisa sprinted into the living room with the force of a thousand stampeding elephants.
"JENNIE! I HAVE A CRISIS!"
Jennie didn't even flinch. She barely glanced up, already accustomed to Lisa's dramatic entrances. "Let me guess. You set something on fire again?"
Lisa huffed, placing both hands on her hips. "Okay, that was ONE time. And technically, the microwave was already suspiciously smoking before I put the spoon in—"
"Lisa, for the love of everything, just tell me what happened."
Lisa dramatically collapsed onto the couch beside Jennie, letting out a deep, suffering groan. "I accidentally told the barista at the coffee shop that I love her."
Jennie blinked. "You... what?"
Lisa buried her face in her hands. "I was ordering my usual caramel macchiato, and she asked, 'Do you want whipped cream?' And I said, 'Yes, I love you' instead of just 'yes.'"
Jennie stared at her for a solid five seconds before bursting out laughing. "Oh my God, you're actually hopeless."
Lisa groaned again, pulling at her own hoodie. "And the worst part? She winked at me and gave me extra caramel. I think I'm engaged now."
Jennie stopped laughing.
"She WHAT?" Jennie's tone had suddenly shifted from amusement to pure hostility.
Lisa, oblivious to the change, continued ranting. "Yeah! And then she wrote 'call me ;)' on my cup! What am I supposed to do?!"
Jennie's eye twitched. "Throw the cup away, change coffee shops, and never speak to her again."
Lisa blinked, finally sensing something odd in Jennie's reaction. "Huh?"
Jennie snatched Lisa's coffee cup from her hands, inspecting the offending message. With one dramatic motion, she chucked it into the trash bin.
Lisa gaped. "JENNIE! I WAS STILL DRINKING THAT!"
Jennie crossed her arms. "You're never going back there. Ever."
Lisa pouted, tilting her head. "Are you... jealous?"
Jennie scoffed. "Of course not. I just don't want my idiot of a roommate getting accidentally engaged to random women because she can't function properly in social settings."
Lisa smirked, her lips curling into a teasing grin. "Aww, my little Jennie is jealous."
Jennie's glare could have burned through steel. "Shut up."
Lisa, still grinning, dramatically flopped onto Jennie's lap, looking up at her with wide, mischievous eyes. "You know what's worse? The only person I actually want to say 'I love you' to is sitting right here, looking like she wants to murder me."
Jennie froze. Her heart did a backflip. Her brain short-circuited.
"Wh—what?"
Lisa blinked. "Oh." A pause. "OH. Did I just—?"
Jennie stared at her. Lisa stared back. The world paused for a solid three seconds before Lisa grabbed a couch pillow and screamed into it.
Jennie, still processing, couldn't help but giggle. "Lisa... are you confessing to me right now?"
Lisa dramatically flailed, waving her arms. "NO! I mean YES! I mean—uh—pretend I said something cool!"
Jennie rolled her eyes but couldn't hide her smile. She reached down, gently pulling the pillow away from Lisa's face.
"You're an idiot," Jennie said fondly.
Lisa sighed. "Yeah, but I'm your idiot?"
Jennie chuckled, brushing a few strands of Lisa's hair from her face. "Yeah. You are."
Lisa's eyes widened slightly before her entire face lit up like the city skyline at night. "So... that means you like me back?"
Jennie rolled her eyes again but leaned down, pressing a quick, soft kiss to Lisa's forehead. "What do you think?"
Lisa blinked, then grinned wider than Jennie had ever seen before. "Oh my God. Jennie Kim likes me. This is the best day of my life."
Jennie groaned, pushing Lisa off her lap. "Don't make me regret this."
Lisa sat up, eyes twinkling. "Too late. You're stuck with me now, babe."
Jennie shook her head, but her smile didn't fade. "Yeah, yeah. Just promise me one thing."
Lisa nodded eagerly. "Anything."
"Stop accidentally proposing to baristas."
Lisa grinned mischievously. "No promises."
Jennie tackled her with a pillow. "LISA!"
