Lisa Manoban had never believed in fairy tales, but if she did, Jane Kim would have been her happily ever after.
Their love wasn't extravagant. There were no diamond rings or high-rise apartments. Just a small, cozy home filled with warmth and laughter. Jane, despite coming from one of the wealthiest families in the country, had chosen Lisa-a simple, hardworking woman who could barely afford a car but loved her with everything she had.
They had built a life together, a beautiful little world that revolved around their daughter, Hana. To Lisa, nothing could shatter their happiness.
But Lisa had never accounted for Jennie Kim.
Jennie had always been different from Jane. Where Jane was kind, Jennie was ruthless. Where Jane found joy in the simple things, Jennie thrived in extravagance. She never understood why her sister had thrown away a life of luxury for a nobody like Lisa.
And yet, the first time Jennie laid eyes on Lisa-really looked at her-something in her shifted. She wanted her.
At first, Jennie ignored it. But as she watched Lisa smile at Jane, cradle their daughter with such tenderness, the jealousy inside her grew. Why should Jane get everything? The love, the perfect family, the happiness Jennie had never felt in her own relationships?
Jennie was never one to let something she wanted slip away. And she wanted Lisa.
She started visiting more often, claiming she wanted to bond with her niece. Jane, always trusting, welcomed her with open arms. Lisa, however, was wary. Something about Jennie's gaze unsettled her.
It started small-brushing against Lisa's arm, holding her gaze a little too long, whispering words only she could hear.
"Jane doesn't appreciate you enough."
"You deserve more."
"I could give you so much more."
Lisa dismissed it as harmless teasing, refusing to believe Jennie could ever betray her own sister. But then, things escalated.
One evening, Jane had to leave town for a business trip, leaving Lisa and Hana alone. Jennie offered to help, claiming she wanted to spend time with them.
That night, Jennie made her move.
Lisa woke up in the middle of the night, feeling dizzy. The last thing she remembered was Jennie handing her a glass of wine at dinner. Her head pounded as she realized she wasn't in her bed.
Jennie was beside her. Naked.
Lisa's blood ran cold.
She shot up, pulling the sheets around her. "What the hell happened?!"
Jennie stretched lazily, a smirk playing on her lips. "What do you think?"
Lisa's hands trembled. "No... no, this isn't-this can't be-"
Jennie sat up, pressing a hand against Lisa's cheek. "You were amazing last night. So passionate. I knew you wanted me too."
Lisa recoiled as if burned. "I would never-"
Jennie's eyes darkened. "But you did. And now, you'll have to take responsibility."
Lisa's stomach churned. "What are you talking about?"
Jennie leaned in, whispering the words that shattered Lisa's world.
"I'm pregnant."
Lisa refused to believe it. She accused Jennie of lying, of setting her up. But then came the doctor's confirmation, the proof Jennie had orchestrated everything flawlessly.
Jane was devastated.
"How could you do this to me, Lisa?!" Jane sobbed, gripping Lisa's shirt. "We have a family! We have Hana!"
Lisa tried to explain, tried to tell her she had been drugged, but Jennie played the victim perfectly.
"I didn't mean for this to happen, unnie," Jennie whispered, tears glistening in her eyes. "Lisa was lonely. She needed me."
And Jane believed her.
Lisa was thrown out.
She lost everything. Her home. Her wife. Her daughter.
Jennie took her in, pretending to be generous, but Lisa knew better. She was trapped.
Nine months later, Jennie gave birth to a baby boy. And Lisa, still reeling from the betrayal, was forced to raise him as her own.
Jennie had won.
Or so she thought.
Two years passed, and Lisa remained by Jennie's side, playing the role of the reluctant but dutiful partner. But she never stopped planning her escape.
One night, Jennie came home to an empty house.
Lisa was gone.
And so was the baby.
Jennie's scream echoed through the mansion, shaking the walls with her fury. Lisa had stolen her son.
But when Jennie finally tracked them down weeks later, she found herself frozen in shock.
Lisa wasn't alone.
She was with Jane.
And Hana.
"You didn't break us," Lisa whispered, cradling the baby in her arms. "You only made us stronger."
Jane turned to Jennie, eyes cold with betrayal. "You think you're the only one who can play dirty? You think I didn't know what you did? You underestimated me, Jennie."
Jennie staggered back. "No... you can't-"
Lisa smirked. "We can. And we did."
Police sirens blared in the distance.
Jennie's reign was over.
Months later, Lisa and Jane rebuilt their lives. It wasn't easy, but they had each other. Their love had survived the worst.
Jane reached for Lisa's hand, intertwining their fingers. "I should have believed you. I should have never let you go."
Lisa smiled softly, pressing a kiss to Jane's forehead. "We found our way back. That's all that matters."
Jane giggled as she wrapped her arms around Lisa's waist, and the baby in Lisa's arms cooed softly. Their family was whole again.
And Jennie?
Jennie sat alone in a cold prison cell, clutching the one thing she had left. A family photo.
Of a life that had never truly belonged to her.
And never would.
