Nas stood in front of the tall mirror that was placed in the corner of his parents' large guest room. He straightened out his black suit, making sure he looked he presentable for the last time before walking out.
It's been a long time since Nas has been back home in New York. His family became super rich after his father invested in opening his own winery. When Nas became old enough to learn about business and how to run one, he moved down to Atlanta to continue the franchise and has been there for the last 10 years. He would come back to visit every now and then whenever he could.
His mother begged him to take some time off to spend Christmas in New York with them. They always went down to Atlanta to spend the holidays over there, mainly because Nas wasn't fond of the extreme cold winters in New York anymore. But this year he decided to grant his mother's wishes. He thought it would be really nice to see some family and friends he hadn't seen in a while after all these years.
Nas walked through his parents' huge mansion, heading downstairs where he quickly spotted his brother and a few cousins hanging out in the pool table room.
"Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones! I know you don't think you're too good enough to greet your aunts and uncles now!" His mother immediately called him out, causing him to stop in his tracks and quietly kiss his teeth as he turned around.
"Dang, ma. You don't gotta be so loud. I was still gon' end up comin' over there." He said as he approached her.
She waved him off before anxiously pulling him by his arm. She was so excited to show off her son and how handsome and successful he's grown to be.
They entered the extensive living room where all of their family members were in their own world talking amongst themselves until Nasir's mom loudly cleared her throat.
Only the faint music was heard playing in the background as everyone's attention went straight Nas. His Aunt Janice was the first get all dramatic.
"Ohhhhh my goodness! Nasir, look at you! Oh myโ come here, come here, come here!" She stretched her arms out as she jogged up to him. Nas couldn't help but laugh. He met her halfway, bringing her in for a hug.
"How you doin', auntie?" He asked. Before she could answer, the rest of his family swarmed around him.
He was so overwhelmed with all the love he was receiving. He started feel a little bit of guilt for not coming back to visit more often. He missed out on a lot. He even met some new additions to the family for the first time, all these babies and toddlers that his cousins and family friends birthed in the last few years.
After conversing with one of his uncle's for about thirty minutes, Nas was finally able to sneak his way back to the pool table room.
As he walked through the foyer, the doorbell rang. He went ahead and answered it, suddenly going into shock when he came face to face with you and your father.
"Well would you look at this! Nasir my man! How you doing, son?!" Your dad happily exclaimed.
Nas just stood there looking stupid.
"I-I'm.. uh-" Nas struggled to get his words out as his eyes bounced back and forth between you and your father. He didn't want to believe this was really you standing before him. You looked so different, in a good way.
You chuckled at his stunned expression while your father tried to get his attention again. "Um Nasir.. I don't know what they've done to your speech down in the A, but if you not gon' talk can you at least let us in? It's cold as shit!"
Nas quickly snapped out of it. "Oh fuck. My bad y'all." He chuckled awkwardly, holding the door open as you both entered.
His orbs scanned you up and down as you walked past him. Your hair was parted in the middle, perfectly slicked down into a long twenty inch straight ponytail. Chunky gold earrings flashed brightly on your ears. You had on a long black mink coat, so your outfit wasn't exposed at the moment. But he just knew you looked good underneath it.
Nas closed the door and dapped up your father. "It's really nice to see you again man. Merry Christmas." Nas said before glancing over at you.
"It's been a while Y/N. Last time I saw you, you were what? Fourteen years old?"
"Sixteen." You corrected, giving him a smile.
Nas' mouth slightly fell open as his eyebrows raised. "Ain't no way you twenty-six now. Nah." He was in disbelief.
Your father laughed as he removed his jacket. "Believe it, son. Sometimes I be wondering where the hell time is going. She ain't my little girl no more."
"She sure ain't. Shit.." Nas mumbled.
You and Nas' family were really close. You all grew up in the same neighborhood. Nas was a couple of years older than you so whenever you would see each other in your younger years, it wasn't nothing much but a 'hi', 'bye', 'how are you?', or 'are you good? Did you eat?'.
You had a stronger friendship with his brother since you guys were bit more closer in age. You thought Nas was cute growing up, just like all the girls did. But that was all it was. An innocent little crush that ended up fading away rather quickly as you got older and he wasn't around anymore.
Until right now. You really forgot how fine he was. He looked exactly the same as he did years ago but more on his grown man shit. You couldn't help but admire him as he stared right back at you, biting down on his lip.
"Where can I put this?" Your dad inquired, referring to his coat, snapping Nas out of his trance yet again.
"Oh uh.. I'll take it." Nas took his coat and held out his hand for yours. "I can take yours too. Unless you plan on sitting in there lookin' like you Lil Kim or whatever."
You gave him a look and smacked your lips, making him laugh as you slid your mink down your arms, finally displaying your gorgeous dress that hugged all of your curves perfectly.
Nas truly couldn't believe how beautifully you've grown to be. You were a big girl now. A whole woman. He dealt with a lot of them in his life but none of them could compare to what he was seeing right now. You were the trophy.
"You look amazing." He complimented as you smiled girlishly.
"Thank you." You said and handed him your coat.
"Best friend?!" Jungle shouted, holding a bag of potato chips as he stuffed his mouth while entering the foyer. You mentally assumed that dinner was taking way too long to be served and he couldn't wait anymore.
You squealed and carefully ran over to him, your heels clicking loudly against the marble floor. "Hi Jabariiiii." You dragged and gave him a hug before the two of you walked off.
Nas rolled his eyes and went to go hang up you and your father's coats in the closet. "Why she couldn't be excited like that to see me?"
โ
The chef finally announced that dinner was ready and you all gathered around the long rectangular shaped dining table in the dining room. You examined how everything was set up to perfection and how the radiant light from the chandelier above added to the room's elegance.
"Come sit right here yo." Jungle pulled out the seat next to him for you. You sat down with your father being right next to you on the other side. Nas sat across from you next to his parents.
After the food was served and blessed, Nas wasted no time getting into conversation with you. You weren't about to spend the whole dinner entertaining his brother. He got see you everyday, unlike Nas.
"So Y/N, what you been up to since I left?" He questioned while cutting through his steak as everyone else went into their own world.
"Well after graduating high school, I took some time off to really figure out what I wanted to do with my life. And then I decided to go to Law School." You replied before taking a bite of your food.
Nas gave you an impressed expression. "That's what's up. Congrats on all of that, forreal. I'll make sure to hit you up if I ever get into some trouble."
"You don't even have my number." You blurted out, immediately regretting it as you internally cringed.
Nas smirked, dropping his fork and knife before digging in his pocket for his cellphone. He unlocked it and placed it on the table, sliding it across to you. "So give it to me."
Jungle peeped the interaction and lowly snickered to himself. "Corny as fuck." He muttered and continued eating.
You smiled shyly as you took the phone and saved your contact information. You gave it back to him and went back to focusing on your dinner. You don't know why, but you suddenly became nervous. You awkwardly picked at your food before deciding to excuse yourself to go to the bathroom.
After you were done doing your business, you weren't in the mood to go back to the dinner table just yet. You just needed to breathe for a second before going back into that fine ass man's presence. You couldn't remember if he ever made you feel this weird back in the day.
You walked out of the bathroom, looking down the hall as the smell of some strong scented wine hit your nose. You knew that was where Mr. Jones' personal wine cellar was located. You've been to this mansion many times but never actually seen this specific room. You figured today would be the day just so you could avoid going back to where everyone was.
You strutted down to the cellar, opening the door and entering, instantly being met with all different kinds of bottles of wine, as well as dark and white liquor.
Examining the shelves, you pulled out bottle after bottle, reading the label and other information you really didn't care for. You did have to give Mr. Jones his props though. You were really proud of how far he and his family had come.
"That one is a bestseller down in Atlanta." Nas' light raspy voice startled you as he referred to the current bottle in your hand, while leaning on the doorframe with one hand in the pocket of his dress pants.
You released a faint, awkward chuckle and placed it back on the shelf as Nas approached you. "I was just looking." You vastly stated before making your way out but Nas stopped you.
"Help me out real quick." He pushed himself from his leaning stance, closing the door and gently grabbing your hand. "They ready to get drunk out there and pops sent me in here to bring 'em that good shit."
You giggled as Nas walked with you hand in hand towards a certain shelf. You were familiar with some of the bottles in front of you. Nas' father had been giving your dad free wine ever since he started this business. Your house was stacked with them.
"You tried any of these before?" Nas asked and you nodded in response.
"Which one's your favourite?" He questioned again.
You hummed and twisted your lips while you used your white tip acrylic nails to scan over the bottles. Nas glanced at you, taking in your facial features for the thousandth time tonight. You were incredibly gorgeous.
"Ouu! This one is really good." You tapped your finger tip on your choice of wine.
"Did I tell you how beautiful you look tonight?"
You slowly looked over at him, finally noticing him staring at you. You laughed and nodded. "Yes, you did. Thanks again. You look great too." You returned the compliment.
"Thanks, ma." Nas chuckled. "Ayo I got a question. Why you wasn't as excited to see me like you were for Jungle?" He raised an eyebrow.
You smiled brightly and held your heart. "Awww, are you jealoussss?" You cackled and moved your hand to pinch his cheek.
Nas smacked his lips and gently tugged you into him by your hand that he was still holding, and rested his own around your waist.
"I mean yeah, the fuck? You see that nigga all the time. I ain't seen you in years and all I got was dust." He complained while gazing down at you.
"Because you think you're too good enough for us now." You rolled your eyes. "Why would I be excited to see someone who barely comes back to visit? And when you do, it's only for a day and then you leave. You not checking for any of us like that. Especially me."
Nas kissed his teeth and sighed. "Aight you got me, shorty. But you're wrong about me thinking I'm too good for y'all. That's not true, 'ion know why y'all keep sayin' that. And secondly, yeah.. I should've came through to see how you was doin'. As someone who grew up with you, knowing how close our families are, I could've at least done that. Thats my fault."
"It's fine, Nas. I ain't trippin'." You let out a subtle chuckle.
"Yo, I'm actually surprised you and Jungle never became a thing. Everyone's still lowkey waiting for this to happen." Nas informed you and laughed, causing you to scoff.
"Y'all gonna be waiting a long ass time because that's never gonna happen." You answered bluntly as you moved away from him, walking over to the counter and hopping up to sit on it. Your heels were beginning to hurt your feet.
"Damn." Nas snickered and shook his head. He stood next to you, leaning back on the counter. "You got a man or sum'n?"
"No." You replied.
A side grin appeared across his lips. "Good. So that gives me room to work towards gettin' that title."
You gave him a shocking glance before looking away, blushing. "That's crazy." You said more to yourself than to him. You started laughing, causing him to furrow his eyebrows.
"What's funny?" He asked. "I'm being deadass yo."
"Nah it's just that back in the day, me and the other girls in our neighborhood used to talk about you. Saying how we wish we were older and shit so we could be your girlfriend." You explained with a smile never leaving your face as you thought about your teenage memories.
Nas chuckled, "now look where we are. You close to gettin' your wish." He smoothly moved his way in front of you, now face to face.
Nas never looked at you in that type of way back in the day. You were way too young for him. You were just his little brother's close friend in his eyes. It wasn't until seeing you tonight for the first time again in so long as a beautiful, grown, independent woman where his thoughts changed to wanting to make you his.
Nas rested his palms on both sides of your hips as you stared deeply into his hooded chinky eyes. You both slowly leaned into each other, and it was like fireworks were set off.
You kissed each other passionately, your arms now finding their way around his neck. Nas slid his tongue into your mouth, swirling it around your muscle, making you moan softly.
The both of you completely forgot where you were until voices and footsteps were heard getting closer to the cellar from out in the hallway.
You and Nas immediately broke out of the brief euphoric state and he quickly helped you off the counter. You instantly started pretending to do something.
"Yo, Nas!" Jungle suddenly flew the door open, appearing with one of their cousins. "The hell is takin' you so longโ yo Y/N, I thought you was takin' a shit. Fuck y'all doin'?"
Nas just ignored him like he usually does and you just snickered as you pulled out two of the same bottles of wine. "Jabari, stop talking and come take these please."
You and Nas handed the drinks to Jungle and their cousin before grabbing a few more and heading out.
Nas made sure they walked up ahead before he crept behind you, sneaking a kiss on your cheek which made you quietly giggle and look back at him.
"We not finished." He whispered to you, leaving you anticipating what was to come later on.
