                    That was it.
I couldn't control the fuming anger that was burning inside me way before I could care to remember.
My jaw clenched, hard, my hand tightly clamping the whiskey glass, and my eyes glared at the person who I've always adored in many different ways.
"Jennie."
My best friend, or should I say the person I was very much in love with, was dancing with the school's one and only fuckboy, Chanyeol.
I should've known that that was bound to happen when I agreed to come to Chanyeol's birthday party. He was known for his wild parties all throughout the college, and with the looks he got, every second girl was head over heels for him.
Not me.
Well, sadly, my best friend also had a crush on him and I couldn't take it. When Jennie told me that she liked him, I thought that it was very good news. However, when the days passed and Jennie would be daydreaming about him or talking with him, it would get on my nerves.
Some boys, including me, knew about Chanyeol's "heartbreaker" image. He played with many girls before and I knew that his next target was Jennie.
Jennie was, well, popular herself too. She was known for her beauty and grace, her smart brain, and how she was the second daughter of one of Korea's richest families.
And, especially, for today she decided to wear one of her shortest dresses from the closet. Because she thought it would be a great way to seduce Chanyeol.
Although I denied her, she didn't listen to me and did what she had to.
When we entered Chanyeol's house, Jennie had already disappeared into the crowd. I was all there alone watching out for any scumbags that would inappropriately look at Jennie. I took the whiskey glass from the nearby waiter and decided to sit on the long couch at the corner of the room.
My eyes were on the dance floor, across the room, and even at the hundreds of people that were in the same room as me.
I was attentive to every step of Jennie's. Knowing she always lost control of herself whenever she drank too much, I had to be aware of her.
After I drank about two to three glasses of the amazing whiskey that the waiter was passing around, I picked up my fourth glass and stared at the place where Jennie was earlier.
However, this time she wasn't there. I panicked as my eyes scanned around the dance floor.
"Where are you?" I muttered under my breath, chewing my lower lip as I thought of the worst situations.
Then, I saw it.
Jennie was in the middle of the dance floor, dancing with Chanyeol as her arms were around his neck and his hands were on her waist. They were swaying along with the beats of the music as they were awfully close to my liking.
I felt the rage inside me pumping hard through my veins as jealousy took over me. I gulped down my whiskey in one gulp and wiped the corner of my mouth with the back of my palm.
Standing up ever so abruptly, I walked straight to where Jennie was and watched every move of theirs.
Chanyeol leaned down to whisper something in Jennie's ear and she smiled as he held her wrist and was about to go away from the dance floor.
"Not on my watch, Park, "I said as I grabbed Jennie's wrist and made both of them look at me.
"Y/N?" Jennie said as she stared at me, and I was glaring at Chanyeol. "What are you doing?"
I harshly tugged Jennie towards me as she was free from Chanyeol's grip. He looked at me with an angry yet confused face and I gave him a slight smirk of victory.
"What the fuck, Y/N?" he asked, angrily. "I was going somewhere with Jennie."
"Yeah, but not now, Park, "I replied. "Jennie will not become one of your victims."
"Y/N, what are you talking about?" Jennie asked as she tried to free her wrist from my firm grip.
I didn't mind her as my whole focus was on Chanyeol.
"What are you trying to say, Y/N?" he asked as he stepped forward, just a few inches away from me.
I stood a little taller while pushing Jennie behind me and said, "I'll not let Jennie become one of your sex dolls. Get this in your thick skull, Park."
Chanyeol's face turned into a darker expression as I knew I hit him right where it would hurt him. His jaw tightened as his whole body became stiff. His nostrils were flaring and he was looking a little red with anger.
"You are taking a dangerous step here, Y/N, "Chanyeol said in his low voice that only I could hear.
"I will risk anything when it comes to Jennie. I'm not like you, "I spat back. "A fucking psychopath."
With that said, I turned around and walked out of the house with Jennie in my tow. I knew that I might have taken a huge step into the dirty business of Chanyeol's, but nothing was more important to me than Jennie's safety.
As I stepped out of the house, the deafening sound of music dissipated a little as Jennie shouted.
Taking ahold of her wrist, I pulled her into the nearby gully as she tried hard to free herself from my grip.
"Let go off my wrist, Y/N!"
I stopped and roughly yanked her forward as she was backed up against the wall and I was standing in front of her with a grim expression.
"Why the hell did you do that, Y/N?" Jennie asked as I faced her with an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry, Jen, but he is not right for you, "I said as I tried to hold her but she stepped back, giving me an angry stare of hers.
"Who are you to judge this?" she asked. "Are you my mom? My dad? My sister? My overprotective brother?"
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before replying, "I am your best friend, Jen."
"Just a best friend, Y/N. You're just a best friend! Nothing else, "Jennie shouted out and I could feel a little pang of hurt in my chest.
"Jen--"
"No, Y/N. You ruined the moment for me. I was finally alone with him and it was going so well... But, you just had to do that, didn't you?"
I could feel the annoyance in me surfacing at the way Jennie thought so highly about him.
"What's wrong with you, Jen? Why are you so into him? He is not worth your efforts!" I said, fuming a little.
Jennie stepped forward, leaving a few centimeters between our faces as her hot breath caressed my lips. I could smell the alcohol in her breath and her perfume that got mixed into an intoxicating mixture.
"Why do you care?" she asked, her words firm and eyes steady.
I could feel the electricity sparking between us as I knew I was about to lose control of my rational thinking.
"Why the fuck do you care if he is the one I like?"
That was it.
I tangled my fingers in her hair and smashed my lips against hers, taking her by surprise. She stiffened under my touch but I was sure to give my answer.
The thing that I had in me forever.
I didn't move. I just had my lips attached to hers as I finally felt her melting a little and moving her lips against me. But, I moved apart eliciting a whimper from her.
I whispered against her lips, "You deserve someone better, Jen. Someone who knows you as much as I do. Someone who knows how to take care of you as I do. Someone who can love you as I do."
My words left a shocking Jennie in their wake as I moved apart and stared at her dazed view. I pulled her hand towards the car that we came in.
Quietly, we drove through the traffic, not uttering a word to each other. Knew that this was such a big step that could ruin or make my relationship with her.
The key was in Jennie's hand and she was too stunned at the moment.
