It was all of a sudden.
Winter didn't even get a grasp of the situation as she stared at her best friend, Giselle, in disbelief.
"Y/N didn't come to school today also?"
It had been one week or more than that, but Y/N hadn't come to school ever since. One day they both were on the school's rooftop, talking and laughing casually and the other day, Y/N disappeared out of thin air, like she was not there in the first place.
Winter couldn't help but groan out loud at that. It was true that Winter wanted her to come so that she could cheat for the Science test today, but most importantly, she missed the girl like a crazy freak.
Winter couldn't sleep properly without hearing from Y/N and these days, Y/N had decided to cut on the internet too.
This was bad, Winter thought. Real bad.
She didn't even remember when was the last time she felt like smiling. These days she has been the grumpiest she could be. Cursing every single person who came in her way. It was a disaster without Y/N.
Picking up her bag, Winter walked out of the class not before telling Giselle, "I'm skipping. Tell the teacher I was sick."
She walked out of the school and towards her car. Revving up the engine, Winter was all but angry.
The frustration leading up to this day only ignited her fire. She wanted to see Y/N now. She had to see Y/N now.
A sudden thought emerged in her mind as she realized how far she had come. A few months back, she wouldn't even spare a glance at Y/N and now she couldn't help but think about Y/N.
All because of you, Winter thought and stifled a laugh while her grip on the steering wheel became firm.
Taking a sharp turn at the next red light, Winter was standing in front of Y/N's house. Her hands rested on her waist as she sighed out loud.
"Here goes nothing, "she said as she stepped onto the stairs and pressed the doorbell.
After a few moments, the door flew open, and there stood Y/N with a bagel in her hand. For a few seconds, no one said anything. Just stared at each other, but then out of the blue, Y/N gasped out loud with eyes wide and Winter realized that her heart was racing a hundred miles a minute.
"W-Winter! What are you doing here?" Y/N asked, her voice high-pitched with shock.
Winter walked ahead and stepped inside the house as she whistled while looking around the interior.
"You got a great place, L/N, "she exclaimed as she took a bite of the bagel that Y/N was eating.
Y/N eyes flickered down at Winter's lips and then up at her eyes as she saw them twinkling. A blush crept up her neck as she turned her head to the side, avoiding eye contact.
"Did you skip school?" she asked as she followed Winter around her own house and saw her sitting on her couch.
"I called in sick. Why? Does it bother you?" Winter questioned as she blew on her nails.
Y/N kept her bagel away as she sat down next to Winter, keeping a friendly space in between, and said, "But, today is the Science test! You'd fail if you don't go."
Winter turned her head to look at her and tilted her head asking, "Aren't you going to fail too? You were staying at home all week though, you have already failed many times."
Y/N let out a low groan as she shook her head and said, "This is not about me. This is about you, Winter."
"It won't hurt to fail a test, will it?" Winter asked as she leaned closer to Y/N, face just an inch difference.
Y/N's breath hitched audibly and somehow it satisfied Winter even more. She smirked and reached out her thumb to wipe off the crumbs from the corner of her lips as she enjoyed watching Y/N getting all flustered in her sight.
"You've got a little something there, "she said, enunciating every word with her deep voice.
Swiping her thumb over her lips, she licked it and released it with a pop sound. At that Y/N stood in an instant as she nervously wiped her hands on her sweat pants.
"Y-You can leave. I have some work, "Y/N said as she gestured for her to leave.
Winter pouted as she stood up and faced Y/N, saying, "But, I don't want to."
Y/N looked at her in disbelief as she stepped back and said, "No buts. You have to Winter."
"Beg for it, "Winter said at which Y/N's eyes got unnaturally wide and she looked at her.
"What?"
Winter smirked as she stepped closer, clearly invading her personal space, and repeated, "Beg for it, Y/N. I want to hear you beg."
"I-I won't. Leave Winter. Now, "Y/N said, her voice betraying her by cracking at the end.
The sound of Winter's chuckle sent a shiver down Y/N's spine as she prayed to God that this ends early.
However, Winter was known for breaking the rules.
"What are you doing?!" Y/N said, her voice barely above a whimper as she felt Winter snaking her arm around her waist.
"What? I'm just standing, Y/N, "Winter said, her face so close to her that she thought she might lose it.
"W-Winter-"
"Do you want me to?" Winter's hot breath caressed her shell of the ear as Y/N's eyes fluttered close and she groaned lightly.
"Yes, "Y/N replied, contrary to her actions, as she clutched tighter on Winter's jacket.
Winter pressed herself a little closer to Y/N as she again whispered, "Do you want me to go, Y/N?"
"No, "and this time, the answer was honest.
Pulling away, Winter stared into Y/N's eyes, and found her heart thundering inside as she said, "Can you feel it? My heart is beating like crazy for you?"
Y/N was too breathless to speak up in coherent sentences.
"This happens all the time when you're around me. Isn't it crazy how I didn't know your name a few months ago, but now I can't live or think straight without looking at you? You make me insane, Y/N, "Winter confessed as her hand came up to tuck a hair strand behind her ear.
"Winter, I-"
"I love you, Y/N. I realized it way too late, but I do, "Winter said, her voice firm.
It was like the world went silent and the only thing they both could hear was their loud heartbeats.
Y/N breathed in as she smelt the fragrance of Winter's perfume. The intoxicating scent that had been on her mind for days.
"I love you too, Winter, "Y/N replied, and at that Winter didn't know how to react.
She forgot to breathe, spell, or speak, but the only thing she knew was to kiss and she did.
Diving in to capture her lips, Winter rested her hand on the small of Y/N's back as she expertly kissed Y/N. She felt Y/N's arm wrapping around her shoulder as she tilted her head to get a little deeper access.
Oh the way it made her head dizzy, Winter couldn't think of anything else other than Y/N.
She gently nipped on her lower lip as Y/N lightly moaned in the kiss, helping Winter to explore her. Suddenly, it felt all too surreal to Winter and she pulled apart, breathing heavily.
She looked up and saw Y/N's flushed face with her disheveled hair.
"Wow, "she blurted out and Y/N giggled.
"Yeah, wow. Didn't expect that?" she asked.
Winter shook her head, "No. Never. But, in dreams I did."
Y/N smacked her shoulder lightly at that as Winter chuckled in response. Staring at her girl with adoration in her eyes. But, her insides clawed her to spill the question she had come up with in the first place to her house.
"Come on, ask me. I can see your gears turning, "Y/N said and Winter still found it amusing how she could read her mind.
"Why didn't you come to school for weeks?" she asked.
Y/N grew quieter at that as she looked down. Winter tipped her chin up with her index finger and pressed a chaste kiss against her lips. Encouraging her to speak.
"I was jealous, "Y/N said.
"Of who?"
"Serena."
"Who?" Winter asked, genuinely confused.
"The girl you... kissed last week at the party, "Y/N replied as her voice turned down a notch.
"I kissed a girl at the party? How did I not remember that?" Winter questioned herself.
"You don't remember it? Serena, the school's head cheerleader, "Y/N clarified, hoping to jog her memory.
"I kissed that fuck-girl? Oh my god, what's wrong with me?"
Y/N was stunned at the answer. She didn't expect that. Not after getting heartbroken and crying over that incident for days, just so Winter could say that she doesn't remember a thing.
Winter cupped Y/N's cheek and pulled her closer, saying, "I'm sorry. I didn't know that I was that drunk that night. I don't even remember doing that. I'm sorry Y/N. I am."
And it felt sincere too. The look that Winter gave did tricks to Y/N's heart.
"It's okay. I don't blame you if you were unconscious at that time. I overthought it all. I'm sorry, "Y/N apologized and Winter smiled.
Fuck, Y/N thought. She smiled.
The deadly smile of Winter's that just plucked Y/N's strings in a melodious tune.
"So, you were not coming to school because you were jealous of some random girl I kissed at the party? Not to mention, severely drunk?" Winter asked, sarcasm laced in her voice.
Y/N groaned as she hid her face in Winter's shoulder, who in return laughed out loud.
"I'm sorry. Please forgive me, "Y/N said, her lips brushing against Winter's skin.
"I already did, Y/N. Don't worry and I'm sorry too for my carelessness, "Winter said as she stroked her hair.
Y/N smiled as she gazed at her for a few moments before Winter pulled her in for another kiss, didn't regret her decision to skip school.
