Many people around the world adored Hwang Yeji, the cat-like leader of the K-pop girl group ITZY. However, there was one fan who had loved her since Yeji was a child who still sucked her thumb.
Y/N was known as Yeji's biggest fan, always cheering her on and wishing the best for her group. While sending Yeji off to train to become an idol, Y/N came to a realization: she was in love with Yeji. It may have been a belated realization, but Y/N was glad to have acknowledged her feelings for Yeji.
Y/N fondly recalled the time when Yeji was chosen to be a part of the group. In celebration, Y/N had thrown a large party at her home and prepared a full dinner spread. It was a small gesture, but one that conveyed her deep affection for Yeji.
Although Yeji was amazed by Y/N's efforts and thankful, she didn't fully understand the true meaning behind it.
Despite feeling disappointed whenever Yeji failed to fully comprehend her love, Y/N refused to give up. She continued to do everything in her power to express her affection for Yeji.
One example was when Yeji mentioned her love for cherry blossoms, Y/N made sure to take her to the most beautiful cherry blossom viewing spots and even surprised her with a bouquet of flowers.
Another time, Y/N knew that Yeji had been feeling down, so she cooked her favorite meal and made sure to spend the whole day with her to lift her spirits. No matter what it took, Y/N was determined to make sure that Yeji knew just how much she was loved.
Despite Y/N's efforts to show her love for Yeji, Yeji remained oblivious to her feelings.
The day arrived when it was announced that Yeji's group would soon make their debut, and Yeji had a sudden desire to introduce Y/N to her fellow members. Despite not fully understanding why, Yeji felt that it was important for her members to get to know Y/N.
As Yeji and her fellow members waited for Y/N to arrive at the cafe, they began to ask Yeji questions about her.
Ryujin inquired, "Is Y/N cute?" Upon hearing the question, Yeji felt an inexplicable emotion welling up inside of her, but she brushed it off and answered truthfully.
"Um, yeah, she's cute. She's adorable. She's--" Yeji's response was cut short by the sound of the cafe's doorbell ringing. All eyes turned towards the entrance as Y/N walked in.
Yeji's eyes widened in surprise as she watched Y/N approach the table with a beaming smile. Y/N was dressed in a cute tomboyish outfit that perfectly suited her style.
She wore a pair of distressed denim shorts and a plain white t-shirt, paired with black combat boots. A denim jacket was slung over her shoulder, and her hair was tied back into a messy ponytail. Yeji couldn't help but think that Y/N looked absolutely adorable in her casual yet stylish outfit.
Sitting beside Yeji, Lia let out a low whistle and made an observation. "Wow, Yeji, you never mentioned that Y/N is like the lead character in a romance novel," she remarked.
Yeji could feel her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she found herself nodding in agreement with Lia's comment.
Yuna flashed a broad smile and leaned in to say, "Y/N is totally Ryujin's type, don't you think?"
Yeji's gaze flickered over to Ryujin, who seemed to be showing a keen interest in Y/N and who she was as a person.
Excitement filled the air as Y/N approached the table, causing everyone to stand up with wide grins on their faces.
However, instead of greeting everyone else first, Y/N immediately pulled Yeji into a tight embrace, causing a shiver to run down her spine.
After finally letting go of Yeji, Y/N politely bowed and introduced herself, "Hello, my name is Y/N L/N. I'm Yeji's childhood friend."
The girls couldn't help but be impressed with Y/N's polite and well-mannered behavior. Yeji felt proud as she saw the approving looks on her members' faces, relieved that they liked Y/N as much as she did.
Y/N took a seat next to Yeji, and they all began to chat. Chaeryoung leaned forward and asked, "So, Y/N, how long have you known Yeji?"
Lia followed up with, "And what's she like as a friend?"
Yuna added, "Do you have any funny stories about Yeji from when you were kids?"
Ryujin, who was still showing a lot of interest in Y/N, asked, "What do you do for fun these days, Y/N?"
Yeji chuckled at her members' interests and said, "Ask slowly. She's not going anywhere soon."
Y/N smiled softly at Yeji's words. She turned to the other members and said, "It's okay. You can ask me anything."
Chaeryeong spoke up first. "So, how did you and Yeji become best friends?"
Y/N's eyes sparkled with fondness as she recounted their childhood memories. "We grew up together in the same neighborhood. We used to play together all the time and we just clicked, you know?"
Lia chimed in next. "What do you like to do in your free time?"
Y/N thought for a moment before answering. "I like to read and watch movies. And I also enjoy cooking."
Yuna's turn came next. "What's your favorite food?"
Y/N grinned. "Definitely Korean fried chicken. Yeji and I used to eat it all the time when we were younger."
Finally, Ryujin spoke up, unable to contain her curiosity any longer. "So, Y/N, are you seeing anyone?"
Y/N's cheeks turned pink as she laughed. "No, I'm not. I've been focused on my studies and helping Yeji with her dream of becoming an idol."
Yeji's cheeks flushed at Y/N's earnest response, and they shared a meaningful look. Yuna broke the moment by speaking up, "I'm starving, let's order." Y/N chuckled and offered, "I'll take care of it. What would you all like?"
Yeji whispered to Y/N, "You don't have to pay for everything, we can split the bill."
Y/N smiled at Yeji and patted her hand gently, "It's fine, Yeji. Let me do this for you."
As Yeji heard Y/N's words, she felt grateful and appreciative of her gesture. She smiled back and nodded, feeling touched by Y/N's kindness.
She knew Y/N always went out of her way to show her love and care, and this was just another example of that.
Seeing the look of fondness on Yeji's face, Y/N was overwhelmed with a rush of emotions.
She knew that it was a simple act of friendship for Yeji, but for Y/N, it meant so much more. It was a chance to show Yeji how much she cared for her and how much she wanted to support her in every way possible.
Y/N got up from her seat and Ryujin quickly stood up as well, offering her help. "I'll assist you," Ryujin said eagerly.
As Ryujin made a bold move, the rest of the group exchanged excited glances. However, Yeji couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy when she saw Y/N flashing a smile and walking to the counter alongside Ryujin to place their order.
"I told you she was Ryujin's type," Yuna remarked, once again offering her opinion on the matter. As a result, Yeji couldn't help but feel a little letdown, and she shrank in her seat, feeling deflated.
As Yeji looked over towards the counter, she couldn't help but focus on the duo standing there, sharing laughs and conversation. A part of her felt a strong urge to intervene, but she couldn't quite explain why.
Soon, Ryujin and Y/N returned to the table with the food in hand. However, Lia had already taken the spot next to Yeji, leaving Y/N to sit next to Ryujin.
While Yeji was about to speak up in protest, she was surprised to see Y/N already seeming at ease and comfortable with Ryujin after just a few minutes of meeting her.
Yeji's gaze was fixed on the two people sitting across from her, her thoughts consumed by the confusing emotions swirling inside her.
She couldn't understand why she was acting so impulsively, yet it also felt like the right thing to do. The dilemma of her feelings weighed heavily on her mind, leaving her searching for answers.
As the evening came to an end, Yeji and her fellow members were ready to head home. Y/N was calling a cab for them when she caught Yeji's eye and gave her a small smile.
Yeji couldn't help but feel a glimmer of happiness at the sight and watched as Y/N mouthed, "Just a sec," before continuing with her task.
Yeji found herself drawn to Y/N's undivided attention, and this caused her to start questioning her feelings.
A month had passed since they all visited the café together, but Yeji couldn't shake off her lingering doubts about her own feelings and behavior during that outing.
As she sat on her bed in the dorm, she heard a commotion outside her room. Curious, she stepped out and saw Ryujin rifling through the shoe rack while the other members whispered excitedly behind her.
As Yeji approached her fellow members, they all suddenly jumped and looked startled. Confused, Yeji questioned what was going on.
"Y/N just called her and asked Ryujin to meet her at the exact same cafe where we all went together last time!" Yuna exclaimed with excitement, her eyes shining.
As Yeji watched Ryujin tie her shoelaces with a shy smile, something inside her shifted. It was unusual for Y/N to set up a meeting without informing Yeji beforehand, and she couldn't help but feel a bit curious about what was going on.
In a rush, Ryujin quickly said her goodbyes to everyone and darted out the door. Her eagerness was evident, but it left Yeji seething with anger.
Yeji balled her fists and spun around, slamming the door shut behind her. She marched over to her bed and sat down, clenching her jaw tightly as she seethed with frustration over what had just transpired.
Yeji's mind was racing with questions as she tried to make sense of why Y/N was meeting with Ryujin. She couldn't help but wonder if something was going on between the two of them, and why Y/N hadn't mentioned anything to her.
Yeji's anxiety grew stronger as she ran her fingers through her hair, desperately trying to calm herself down and find a logical explanation for the situation.
Overwhelmed by her emotions, she hastily grabbed her phone and sent a message to Y/N without hesitation. The message read, "Can we meet tonight at your place?"
Y/N quickly responded to Yeji's message, replying with a simple, "Yes, of course."
Yeji was eager to receive an explanation from Y/N regarding the current situation. She knew that understanding everything was necessary for her own well-being.
The night arrived sooner than anticipated, and Yeji found herself standing outside Y/N's apartment door, waiting patiently for her to arrive.
The sound of the elevator door opening and familiar footsteps caused Yeji's heart to race with anticipation. She looked up to see Y/N hurrying towards her with an expression of worry etched on her face.
Y/N came to an abrupt stop in front of Yeji and asked with urgency, "I rushed here as soon as I could. What happened, Yeji? Are you okay?"
The anxiety apparent on Y/N's face and her words caused Yeji to feel bashful, causing her to stutter as she responded, "Y-Yeah, everything's fine. I-I just wanted to talk to you."
Y/N shot a concerned look at Yeji before sighing heavily and punching the passcode to her door, ushering Yeji inside. As soon as they entered the living room, Yeji's heart felt like it was about to burst out of her chest with anticipation, especially with Y/N right behind her.
Spending the night at Y/N's place was nothing new to Yeji, but today everything felt different. Y/N's hand came to rest on the small of her back, guiding her to the couch where she was seated comfortably.
Yeji watched as Y/N poured her a glass of water and offered it to her, feeling a flutter in her chest at the small gesture.
With a curious gaze, Y/N observed Yeji and inquired, "What did you want to talk to me about?"
Yeji reached up to wipe the corner of her mouth and placed her empty glass on the coffee table in front of her. She then sat back, interlacing her hands tightly together on her lap. Avoiding Y/N's gaze, she struggled to find the right words to articulate her question.
After taking a deep breath, Yeji asked Y/N a question that was weighing heavily on her mind, "Did you meet with Ryujin today?"
Y/N blinked a couple of times before responding matter-of-factly, "Yes, we met at the cafe."
Desperately, Yeji looked up and asked, "Why?"
Y/N hesitated briefly before responding, "Just to talk. But, Yeji, what's going on? You're starting to worry me."
Yeji found herself struggling more than she had anticipated. She took a deep breath before finally asking the question that had been weighing on her mind, "Is there... something going on between you two?"
Y/N was taken aback by Yeji's question, wondering if she had heard correctly. It was a query that was completely unexpected and not what Y/N had anticipated Yeji asking.
Yeji took a deep breath and spoke unsteadily, "Please, just be honest with me. Are you and Ryujin seeing each other?"
Y/N let out an awkward chuckle before asking, "Where on earth did that come from?"
Observing Yeji's obvious mental and physical distress, Y/N instinctively took her hands in hers, just like she had done many times before. She gently rubbed her thumb on the back of Yeji's hand in a soothing gesture.
Yeji let out a genuine gasp as she gazed into Y/N's eyes. Y/N returned her gaze with warmth and asked, "What's happening, Yeji? Is there something troubling you? Perhaps I can be of assistance."
Without a second thought, Yeji blurted out, "Don't date Ryujin."
Y/N's brows knitted together in confusion as she replied, "But who even told you that--"
Yeji's voice was filled with a range of emotions as she pleaded with Y/N. "Please don't date her. Not ever," she implored.
A sudden realization dawned upon Y/N, prompting her to dig deeper and inquire further. She had a feeling that Yeji might have feelings for her too, and this was the perfect opportunity to confirm it.
Y/N took a deep breath and edged closer to Yeji, intently observing her every reaction. Yeji's eyes widened, and her gaze shifted nervously from Y/N's lips to her eyes. Y/N's heart was also beating fast with anticipation, mirroring the tension in the air between the two of them.
Gently, Y/N inquired, "Yeji, please tell me. Why don't you want me to date Ryujin?"
Y/N observed Yeji's chest rapidly rising and falling as she prepared to respond to the question, "Why?"
As Y/N approached, she noticed Yeji's gaze fixated on her lips as she began to lean in. Yeji attempted to respond to Y/N's question with a quiet, "Because I..." before trailing off.
Y/N was acutely aware of the charged atmosphere between them as she tenderly placed her hand on the nape of Yeji's neck and whispered, "Yes?"
Yeji gazed deeply into Y/N's eyes for a fleeting moment before responding in a soft whisper, "I love you."
With a sense of relief washing over her, Y/N finally let out her pent-up emotions and pulled Yeji into a desperate and passionate kiss.
The intensity of their kiss was overwhelming, causing both of them to whimper in pleasure. As they wrapped their arms around each other, their bodies pressed together, the world around them faded away. It was a kiss they had both been longing for, and it felt like they were the only two people in existence.
They broke apart, and Yeji rested her forehead against Y/N's, still trying to catch her breath from the intense moment they had just shared.
Y/N gently brushed a strand of hair from Yeji's face and spoke softly, "It's been a long time coming. I love you too, Hwang Yeji. More than you could ever imagine."
Yeji beamed a smile and apologized, "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting for so long." Y/N simply shook her head and responded, "Don't worry about it. Every second spent with you was worth it, just for this moment."
Yeji felt an overwhelming sense of completeness and couldn't resist leaning in for another kiss as if everything inside her was falling perfectly into place.
After two hours of cuddling, Yeji slowly pulled away and inquired, "Why did you meet up with Ryujin today if you're not seeing each other?"
Y/N let out a small chuckle before replying, "You're still hung up on that, huh? I actually asked her to meet up so that I could explain everything to her. I told her that I had deep feelings for you and that I needed her help. However, it seemed like you were too jealous to let the situation slide."
Yeji blushed with embarrassment as she snuggled her head into Y/N's shoulder and spoke softly. "I'm glad I finally realized my feelings, even if it took me a while. It's better than having to ask Ryujin for help. I feel terrible for being jealous of my own member!"
Y/N chuckled and responded, "You might want to talk to Ryujin as well, it could have hurt her feelings. I should probably apologize to her too."
Yeji nodded in agreement, her eyes drifting down to their hands as they intertwined. "Being with you like this feels so right," she murmured softly.
Y/N let out a deep sigh and spoke with a hint of sadness in her voice. "Just imagine being in my shoes, wanting to hold and kiss you every single day. It's been tough, but it's all been worth it."
Upon hearing Y/N's worries, Yeji leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her cheek. Although it pained her to see Y/N hurting, Yeji was now more determined than ever to make things right. "I'll love you so much that you'll never want to let me go," she promised with utmost sincerity.
Y/N embraced Yeji tightly and spoke earnestly, "I could never let you go, not now, not ever." Yeji sighed with contentment as she returned the hug.
The moment had been a long time coming.
