What could possibly go wrong on a university trip with a group of chosen students, a small number of teachers, and a bus?
However, ever since Y/N was selected for the trip, or maybe she even volunteered to go on this trip, she was now regretting her decision more than ever.
Just because of one person. And that person was sitting at the last seat of the bus, surrounded by what other students call "fans".
And, coincidentally, that student was the person Y/N loathed the most.
Jennie Ruby Jane Kim.
She was the most successful student at the university, and her beauty was simply breathtaking, almost unbelievably stunning.
Gradually, Y/N came to terms with that thing. She admitted that Jennie was certainly beautiful.
However, her dislike for Jennie persisted. The reason remained unacknowledged within herself, but she desired it to stay that way. Y/N embraced this feeling of animosity, finding comfort in the shield it provided, and wished for it to endure.
She turned her head around from the first seat of the bus and saw Jennie sitting in the middle with a broad smile on her face. Jennie was enjoying all the attention she was getting and she was encouraging it too.
Amidst the chaos, Jennie's eyes lifted and met with Y/N's, and Jennie smirked with a sly wink thrown at Y/N.
Unknowingly, Y/N's heart skipped a beat at that simple action and she instantly turned forward, breathing in and out deeply. As if trying to run away from the mere fact that she was affected by Jennie and felt any other emotion than annoyance, Y/N took out her earplugs and blocked out all the noise.
She leaned back and closed her eyes as she tried to ease her heart which was beating fast. The trip to the hotel in Gyeongju was about 4 to 5 hours. Y/N didn't know for how long she could tolerate the noisy atmosphere on the bus and all the students shouting Jennie's name once in a while.
Y/N considered napping to be the most favorable choice.
It was not long ago when the bus stopped and they reached their destination.
Y/N woke when her best friend, Lisa, beside her shook her by her shoulder.
"Wake up, sleepyhead. We have reached the hotel, "Lisa said after taking out one of the earplugs from Y/N's ear.
"I'm awake, "Y/N replied with her groggy voice as she stretched her arms above her head and groaned lightly. The sleeping position was uncomfortable and it made her shoulders hurt a bit.
A light chuckle woke her up completely and she opened her eyes to see Jennie looking down on her as she stood beside Y/N's seat.
Jennie smiled at Y/N and commented, "You have a cute look when you've just woken up."
Y/N stared at Jennie's face, trying to search for a hint of sarcasm, but she found none of it. Her smile was a smile, not a smirk and her eyes showed an emotion that Y/N was seeing a lot more nowadays.
Realizing that she was almost staring, Y/N shook her head lightly and stood up. She picked up her bag from her carrier above and said, "C'mon, Lisa. Others are waiting."
Without sparing another glance at Jennie, Y/N brushed past her with Lisa in her tow. She stepped out quickly and sighed at the freshness in the air. She felt a tug at her shoulder and turned around to see Lisa giving her a look of what she termed as "sus".
"What again?"
Lisa folded her arms and raised an eyebrow as she leaned forward a bit and asked, "What was that?"
"What was what, Lisa? Be specific, "Y/N said, not trying to look her best friend in the eye.
"The staring contest between you and Jennie. Are you warming up to her now?" Lisa asked and Y/N saw a hint of a smile on her lips.
"Are you crazy? Me? Warming up to Jennie Ruby Jane Kim? Hell no, "Y/N responded immediately, yet her voice lacked the usual hint of irritation.
Lisa shrugged and said, "Well if you say so."
Y/N noticed a group of students gathering around the teachers and decided to join them. Venturing deeper into the crowd, Y/N could catch snippets of what the head teacher was attempting to convey.
"Good afternoon everyone, we have arrived at our hotel for the school trip. I want to talk to you about your roommates, "the head teacher Mr. Jeon said,
Silence fell over students as they started to pair themselves with their friends.
"Our principal has asked us to help you all get to know each other better and build stronger relationships. Therefore, instead of letting you choose your own roommates, we, the teachers, will assign roommates for you, "Mr. Jeon said.
Various ranges of groans and complaints were heard all around the group of students.
"Looks like we won't be sleeping together, "Lisa said and Y/N chuckled replying, "I'm thankful though. You snore too loudly."
"Hey! I don't!" Lisa said and punched Y/N's arm lightly at which they shared a small laugh.
Mr. Jeon continued after shushing down all the students and complaints, "I understand that, but the idea is to encourage you to make new friends and socialize with students you may not know as well. We believe this will make the trip even more enjoyable for everyone."
A few murmurs started to follow around and Y/N saw that every eye was eyeing Jennie who was far behind with her hands in her pocket with her best friend, Rosé, beside her.
"Who do you think Rosé is gonna room with?" Lisa asked and Y/N gave her a shrug, replying, "Dunno."
"Hope it's me, "Lisa replied in an instant and Y/N shook her head.
About a month or two ago, she became aware of Lisa's small infatuation with Jennie's best friend, and since then, Rosé's name seemed to come up more frequently in conversation.
After a few discussions with fellow two teachers, Mr. Jeon started announcing the students in pairs.
As the pairs were announced, a mixture of groans and hoots filled the air, creating an atmosphere of excitement, Y/N acknowledged. A smile played on her lips whenever she noticed some students being paired as couples, while others seemed like a gentle nudge towards potential crushes.
As the pairs were announced they were ushered into the hotel to take their room keys and go to their room.
After a few pairs were sent in, only a handful of students were left and a sudden nervousness grew inside Y/N. Her name hasn't been called yet and as her eyes roamed around, she couldn't decide as to who will room with her.
"Next pair, Lisa and Rosé, "Mr. Jeon announced and Y/N gasped as she turned to her side to see Lisa, who was in a state of shock.
"Holy shit, "Lisa muttered under her breath and Y/N saw Rosé in front as she stared at Lisa with confused eyes.
Y/N shaking herself from the shock, pushed Lisa forward and said, "Go, Lisa! She's waiting for you!"
Lisa walked slowly ahead as she stared at Rosé and then back at her best friend in disbelief. Y/N mouthed her "All the best" and a thumbs up as she saw both of them being escorted inside.
As the pair disappeared inside, Y/N turned her eyes around and they fell on Jennie, who was still not paired with anyone yet. Her eyes met with Jennie's again.
Jennie smiled and Y/N turned her head away. She really hoped that the worst didn't happen.
Yet, this happened.
"Okay. Now, next. Jennie and Y/N."
Y/N turned her head back at Jennie with wide eyes, who was walking towards her with a broad smile.
"This can't be happening, "Y/N muttered under her breath as her heart started pounding in her chest.
Jennie halted within a good half a meter and bowed her head a bit, saying, "Hello, roommate."
Y/N noted the teasing in her voice and her mind signaled red. Without thinking twice, Y/N walked toward Mr. Jeon and asked, "Can't I room with someone else?"
Mr. Jeon gave Y/N a stern look and answered, "No. As per the instructions, you cannot, Y/N."
"But, Sir—"
"Y/N. Every student followed the rule. We can't change it just for you, "Mr. Jeon answered and Y/N looked away while biting her lower lip.
She turned around and saw Jennie smiling at her with her fingers waving tauntingly.
This was getting worse than Y/N thought.
After reaching the room and setting up the luggage, all the students were called down to the buffet area to have dinner.
Y/N and Jennie silently went about their task, ensuring they didn't disrupt each other, as they refreshed themselves and changed into more comfortable attire.
It was uneasy in the room and between the two. However, Y/N wished to keep it that way. Talking might start something that Y/N wished would've never started in the first place.
Dinner went by fast. Y/N and Lisa got the chance to talk. However, the talk was nothing other than Rosé.
Apparently, Lisa and Rosé got to introduce themselves to each other, and unexpectedly to Lisa, they were hitting it off. Y/N was happy that between the two of them, someone was excited about this trip and a new roommate.
When Lisa asked about Y/N's roommate, Y/N told her it was Jennie, and Lisa couldn't help but laugh out loud in between eating a piece of bread. Y/N shushed her down immediately because she was really loud.
By the end of her laughing fit, Lisa wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and said, "You know Y/N, at this point, you two are destined for each other."
And, Y/N simply replied to her with a scoff and a good old eye roll.
As the clock neared 8, Lisa decided to end her night and hurriedly followed Rosé's lead. Y/N bid good night to the students who had spoken to her and then took the elevator to her own floor.
She anxiously browsed through her phone as she couldn't get behind the fact that Jennie was waiting for her in the room.
As the elevator opened with a ding, Y/N stepped out and walked right down the hall to room number 482.
Standing in front, Y/N pocketed her phone and looked up at the room number that was engraved on a metal plate and screwed into the white door. She breathed in heavily and lifted her hand to knock on the door.
Carefully, she knocked on the door three times and a few moments later Jennie opened the door with a smile. Y/N thought that Jennie was smiling awfully a lot today.
"Oh, hi, "Jennie said as she stood by the door, looking at Y/N with those same eyes that she noticed on the bus.
Y/N looked away from Jennie's gaze and said, "Step aside."
Jennie obliged as Y/N, sighing internally, walked in as her shoulder brushed with Jennie's. She heard the door closing and locking behind her as she made her way inside and toward the bed.
As she was about to sit down, Jennie rushed past her and jumped on the bed first. Y/N saw Jennie laying on the bed with her head in hand as she gave Y/N a look that could be termed "alluring".
"Are you going to sleep here?" Jennie asked, her voice ending with a note of purr.
Y/N felt shivers down her spine as she tried to look unaffected and replied, "No. You can take the bed. I'll sleep on the couch."
Walking forward, she picked up a pillow and was about to go to the couch when Jennie's hand held her wrist, stopping her steps and train of thought altogether.
"Where do you think you're going? I've got to talk to you about something, "Jennie said and Y/N turned her head to see her.
Y/N's visible gulp and avoidance of eye contact heightened the tension in the atmosphere with just a momentary pause before she spoke, "Not interested."
She jerked her hand away from Jennie's grip and walked towards the couch but stopped again when she heard something she was avoiding so much throughout their interaction.
"Why do you hate me so much?"
Y/N let the pillow drop on the couch and then she turned around with a look that translated into "apathy". Folding her arms, Y/N let her thoughts settle for a moment and then she decided to go with the answer that might solve this whole problem at once.
"Because you are a narcissist and a self-entitled bitch."
Jennie blinked two times as she let that statement settle in and then laughed. Y/N, on the other hand, stared at her wide-eyed thinking if Jennie was mad or had she gone crazy.
After Jennie stopped laughing, she stepped down from the bed and made her way toward Y/N, who clenched her fists and stood her ground, trying to act tough and indifferent.
The brunette tilted her head with a smile and said, "Thanks for stating the obvious. That's my theme."
Y/N scrunched her eyebrows as she gave Jennie a confused look and said, "You're insane."
Jennie shook her head with a chuckle and said, "You could say that. But, what does that have to do with you hating me so much? I don't remember doing anything bad to you... or anyone for that matter."
That was true. Jennie might be rich, but she never took advantage of that and bullied or did something bad to anyone in the school. Ever.
Y/N realized that her plan had just flopped and she couldn't think of any other reason than to state her feelings of hatred at once without lying, at least.
Jennie noticed the silence and inner dilemma on Y/N's face. She stepped closer and into her personal space as she said, "Do you really hate me... or are you just acting like it?"
Ba-bum.
Y/N's other thoughts were knocked out of her mind as she heard the brunette. And now when she went deeper into her thoughts, she couldn't figure out the very reason she started hating Jennie so much.
"You don't really hate me. Am I right or am I right?" Jennie asked as she smirked at Y/N with a hint of teasing in her eyes.
Y/N was about to reply with an answer she didn't even rehearse in her head, Jennie pulled away and said, "I think that's enough digging for now."
Y/N blinked a few times as she saw the brunette walking away and toward the bed. She saw Jennie slipping under the sheets and smiled at Y/N, saying, "We'll talk tomorrow. Dream about me, Y/N."
Jennie turned off the lights as Y/N stood there her mind was still reeling from the closeness with the brunette and the statement that she made.
Just a single statement was making her think about her feelings again. Why was hating Jennie? She didn't know.
Y/N glanced in Jennie's direction, observing her sleeping form facing away. Her heart began to race once more, refusing to be soothed. The presence of Jennie Ruby Jane Kim was the undeniable cause of this effect on Y/N.
Y/N awoke the following morning upon hearing the nearby sounds of rustling and thumping.
Upon opening her eyes, she was greeted by the direct beams of bright sunlight, causing her to tightly shut them and turn away to adapt to the intensity of the light.
After a few moments, she sat on the couch and stretched her arms up with a light groan.
"Oh, good you're awake."
Y/N's eyes fluttered open, greeted by the sight of her roommate standing before her. A radiant smile adorned her face, shining brighter than any LED. Y/N's gaze followed down to her brunette roommate, carefully observing her. It was evident that Jennie was brimming with excitement, even in the early morning, and she was dressed in what appeared to be a hiking ensemble.
"How do I look?" Jennie asked as she put on her hiking cap and tightened the string, completing the look.
Jennie wore a breathable cotton t-shirt and a pair of comfortable, stretchy hiking shorts, that stopped just enough to leave the rest to imagination.
Her hiking boots were sturdy and practical with a bit of a heel, designed to provide ample support and protection on the rugged terrain. She had a lightweight jacket tied around her waist in case the weather changed, and a pair of sunglasses to shield her eyes from the sun.
Y/N was aware of her lingering gaze, yet she couldn't resist. Jennie appeared stunning in her modest hiking attire. Although Y/N needed to maintain her own style, she playfully responded, "You're not going to tell me you've prepared an ensemble for every moment of this trip, are you?"
Jennie responded with an eye roll, stating, "Obviously, Y/N. Fashion holds significance in every situation and event."
Without her knowledge, Y/N had a smile on her face while gazing at Jennie, who struck a pose reminiscent of a magazine cover shoot.
And, Jennie caught her at that. Her eyes softened as she looked at Y/N with a small smile and blushing cheeks. They held eye contact as if it broke they'd ruin something. However, when Y/N realized she was doing something she shouldn't, she immediately stood up from the couch and went towards her luggage.
She said, "Don't waste my time."
Jennie chuckled and walked towards the door of their room. She saw as Y/N passed by her toward the bathroom, she couldn't resist teasing her one more time.
"You looked like you were having a good time staring at me, Y/N."
And, Y/N's answer came as an echo from the bathroom, "I did not!"
While laughing, Jennie walked out of the door and joined the rest of the students downstairs for breakfast.
After breakfast was done. All the students were assembled in the lobby of the hotel to get further instructions for the hiking day.
Y/N's eyes lingered on Jennie who was standing two rows in front of her with Rosé beside her. They both were whispering and giggling amongst themselves. A small nudge on her side rib pulled her out of her trance.
"What now?" Y/N asked, whisper-yelling at Lisa.
"How was your night with Jennie?" Lisa asked, her eyebrows quirking teasingly.
Y/N gave her a death stare and said, "Shut up."
Quietly chuckling, Lisa shook her head, well aware of Y/N's obvious gaze, yet opted to remain silent and let the magic unfold naturally.
As the instructions were announced completely, the instructor was introduced to the tour. He was a man in his mid-40s and he looked friendly. Y/N was hoping to enjoy the rest of the trip without thinking of a certain someone all the time.
But, when her eyes met with Jennie who was looking at her, Y/N's heart picked up its pace and she instantly clutched her chest with surprise. She saw Jennie laughing and with a wink she turned around again.
And, here, Y/N was confused as to why she was getting affected by Jennie so much. Her heart shouldn't beat like that just by the mere sight of her stunning— I mean, annoying face, but it did.
And the idea of focusing on the trip was thrown out of the window, just like that.
Half an hour into the trip, students were scattered around as they all climbed the mountain to reach the top. There wasn't a price for reaching first, but Y/N was indeed in her competitive spirit and she wished to be ahead of everyone else.
As she was continuously walking upwards, she heard Lisa complaining behind her.
"Can't you just walk like every other normal person? What's the hurry for?"
Y/N turned her head around just to give her a brief glance and said, "I want to reach the top. You can come later with everyone else. I'll be fine by myself!"
With that said, she started to run towards the top and Lisa was cursing her best friend for being so athletic and enthusiastic.
As Y/N was walking upwards with a bright smile on her face when she saw that she was closer to the top, a sudden shout of Jennie's name was heard. She halted immediately and turned her head around to see that some students were crowding a bit downwards on the hill.
A sense of running to see provoked Y/N to do so. She instantly ran down toward the crowd to see what happened.
As she pushed amongst the students, she was met with a sight that made her heart clench.
Jennie was sitting with her ankle hurt. The brunette was trying to hold her cries as she held her leg with stinging pain. Rosé was beside Jennie, helping her to calm down as the students called the teachers for help.
However, Y/N saw that Jennie was about to pass out. She looked like she was having difficulty in breathing and the pain was unbearable.
Without thinking twice, she knelt down and held Jennie by her arm. She looked at Rosé and said, "Hold her other arm. There are stairs on the side."
Rosé gave Y/N a look before nodding and helping her to lift Jennie. The brunette winced as she put a little force on her leg.
"Lift your leg. Hold onto us, "Y/N said in a low voice, trying to calm down Jennie, who looked like panicking inside.
Jennie obliged and gritted her teeth as she leaned onto Y/N for support while holding Rosé tightly too. She basically jumped with one leg till they reached the stairs. Y/N saw the teachers running up to them with worried expressions.
"What happened?" Mr. Jeon came up as he looked at Jennie.
Y/N knew that waiting for further instructions would only cause problems for Jennie, so she lifted Jennie's arm from around her shoulder and kneeled in front of her, her back facing Jennie.
"What are you doing, Y/N?" Jennie managed to ask as she looked down at Y/N.
"What do you think? I'm going to carry you, "Y/N said and all of them shared a look that screamed worry.
"No, Y/N. You'll hurt yourself too, "Mr. Jeon said as everyone seemed to agree with the statement.
Y/N looked up and said, "Do you have any better ideas?"
A silence fell upon them all as Y/N shook her head and gave a brief glance to Jennie behind, and said, "Come on. I'll be fine."
Jennie, who couldn't get to why Y/N was caring so much, didn't hesitate and held onto Y/N, who easily hoisted herself up with Jennie on her back.
Y/N tightened her grip around Jennie as she said, "Hold on tight."
The brunette did so as her arms hugged Y/N tightly and she rested her head on Y/N's back.
"Rest of you, continue your trip. I'll accompany them, "Mr. Jeon said as he walked behind Y/N.
Jennie gave Rosé an assuring smile before she turned her head around and saw Y/N walking downwards with optimal speed. She saw Y/N panting a bit as sweat trickled down her face, but she had a determined look on her face.
And that face made Jennie blush a bit amidst the acute pain she was feeling.
Shortly thereafter, they were at the hotel within a short trip from the bus. Y/N held Jennie by her shoulders with Mr. Jeon following behind inside the hotel.
"Wait here. I'll call—"
"It's fine, Sir. I have a first aid kit. I'll treat her myself, "Y/N interrupted Mr. Jeon. She gave him a steadfast gaze. Mr. Jeon eventually nodded and said, "Alright. If you say so. I'll be on my way. Call me if you need any help, Y/N."
With that being said, Mr. Jeon went back to the bus and Y/N was on her way with Jennie limping beside her to their room.
Throughout the entire time, Jennie remained silent, refraining from uttering a single word while tightly clinging onto Y/N as if her life depended on it. The presence of Y/N provided her with a sense of security, intensifying the emotions she had been experiencing and compelling her to embrace them more deeply than ever before.
She stared at Y/N with an observing gaze. She decided to remember every little detail up this close if this was the last time they were like that.
Despite this, the brunette maintained her belief that Y/N harbored hatred towards her, and now that perception would only intensify due to her being an even greater annoyance.
But, little did she know it was exactly the opposite of how Y/N was feeling at the moment. She could feel Jennie looking at her the whole time but chose to be quiet because she thought Jennie was scrutinizing her for her good deed too.
However, her priority was aiding the brunette. Everything else could be sorted out later.
When Y/N heard the sound of the elevator door opening, they stepped out of the elevator, Y/N took out the key from her back pocket and opened the door. She switched on the light on her way while carefully removing her shoes.
As Y/N let Jennie rest on the couch, she removed the arm that was around her shoulder. She saw Jennie wincing in pain as she let her ankle rest on the floor.
"Don't put force on your ankle— Wait. Here, "Y/N immediately picked up a spare pillow from the couch and put it under Jennie's foot, carefully.
Jennie sighed but kept kneading her knee, hoping to lessen the pain. She removed her cap as it felt suffocating to her. Her eyes were getting dizzy from the unbearable sprain and her breathing was becoming ragged.
Y/N stood up and rushed towards the closet to take out the first aid kit from her luggage. She kept it when her mother insisted on doing so, and now it was coming in handy. Walking towards Jennie, she knelt in front of her and kept the first aid box on the floor beside her.
Jennie saw Y/N pouring a glass of water and putting it in her hand to drink.
"Drink some. You'll feel better, "Y/N said, her voice soft but Jennie could see the panic in her eyes.
The brunette obliged and finished the water in one big gulp. She handed the glass back to Y/N and leaned against the couch to let her breathing calm down.
Y/N, on the other hand, with her careful hands, untied Jennie's shoes and lifted her leg while supporting it with the other hand on her calf. She kept checking in between if it hurt the brunette or not.
As soon as she removed the shoe, she was met with a bloody white sock. It made her heart ache and she bit her lip.
Jennie looked down and saw her ankle and laughed wearily. "A bloody ankle on day two of the trip. What could be better than this?"
Y/N glanced up and said, "Don't move any further."
Jennie noticed the seriousness in her voice and nodded. She saw Y/N's nimble fingers tracing the sock cuff. Her fingers were cold against Jennie's feverish skin and that made her shiver.
"This might hurt a bit. You can hold on to my shoulder, "Y/N said but Jennie scoffed, replying, "I might look fragile, but I'm tough, Y/N."
Y/N sighed and scooted a little forward, just in case, and said, "Don't say I didn't warn you."
She held the sock cuff with both of her thumbs and rolled it down slowly. As the sock reached the part where it bled, Jennie hissed in pain and her hand immediately came to hold onto Y/N's shoulder tightly.
Y/N looked up and saw Jennie looking down at her ankle while biting her fist. The scene made Y/N smile a bit, but she decided to shrug off the staring for a second. Meticulously, she removed her sock altogether, and that made Jennie almost cry her eyes out.
"Fuck!" The brunette cursed out loud when she felt the cotton with antiseptic being put against her wound.
"I'm sorry, "Y/N apologized and bent down to puff gently on her wound, trying to ease the pain.
The brunette saw how Y/N was catering the needs of her. She felt her heart thundering inside as she felt Y/N's mouth nearly touching her skin, but not enough. Jennie decided to control herself as she let Y/N do the rest.
Immediately, Y/N put on some ointment on the wound and took out a white crepe bandage. As she was wrapping the bandage around her ankle, Y/N, without looking up at Jennie, said, "I don't hate you."
There was a pause in Jennie's breathing as she thought inhaling might ruin what she heard at the moment. Hoping to listen to it again, she asked, "Come again?"
Y/N taped the bandage and sighed heavily, once again, and looked up into Jennie's eyes this time, repeating, "I said, I don't hate you, Jennie."
Jennie swore she hadn't felt her heart pound so fast ever in her life as she was feeling right now. There was a silence that couldn't be conveyed in words but felt thoroughly. Gulping the tight feeling in her throat, Jennie spoke up, "But, didn't you say—"
"I know! I know what I said, Jennie, "Y/N interrupted her as she stood up and faced away from the brunette.
As Jennie listened to Y/N speak, a smile graced her face upon hearing her name mentioned not once, but twice. She admired how effortlessly Y/N's tongue rolled her name off, savoring the sound.
Raising her gaze, she observed Y/N grappling to articulate the remainder.
Y/N closed her eyes and intertwined her hands in a display of anxiousness. She breathed in and out shakily and said, "Last night, after talking to you for the first time, I realized that I don't really hate you."
Y/N found herself in a confessional moment, fully aware of it, and it felt like the appropriate course of action. Once again, displaying bravery, she sought to voice her long-held feelings for someone who had occupied her thoughts for quite some time.
Jennie let the sentence settle in as she stared at Y/N's back, trying to figure out what to say next and the first question that popped into her mind was...
"Why?"
Y/N turned around and looked at Jennie, confusedly.
"Then... Why do you don't want to talk to me? Or even look at me?" Jennie elaborated.
A momentary hush enveloped them as their eyes met in a wordless exchange. Y/N experienced a sense of vulnerability, compelling her to break the silence and disclose the long-held truth concealed within her.
"Because I'm scared of you, "Y/N said, her voice barely above a whisper but it caught up to Jennie.
"Scared of me? How... and why?" Jennie asked as she tried to stand up and face Y/N and talk this thing out.
However, she felt an agonizing pain as she put some pressure on her feet and yelped instantly. Y/N held her by her shoulder and said, "What do you think you're doing? You're hurt, Jennie!"
Jennie looked up as she saw that Y/N was close. Closer even. As she looked at Y/N's worried face, she felt her insides warm and then Y/N looked up and their eyes met.
The moment felt intimate. They shared a passing breath and their hearts were beating together and fast.
"Why are you scared of me, Y/N?" Jennie took the opportunity to ask the question again.
Y/N, who was still holding onto Jennie's shoulder, sat close beside her and let Jennie sit again. She was staring back at Jennie this whole time as an answer formed inside her head and she was ready to speak out.
"Because I think you'd leave me... like someone else before."
There it was, the truth. The heartbroken past of Y/N.
Jennie let that settle in and she questioned, "Who left you?"
"Someone like you, "Y/N said. "Someone I had liked for a long time in high school."
"Why did she leave you?" Jennie asked, trying to dig out as much as possible.
Y/N was about to pull her arm away from around Jennie's shoulder but stopped when Jennie held her close to her.
"Tell me, Y/N. That's how we'll be able to solve this, "Jennie said, her voice comforting and convincing.
Taking a deep breath, Y/N answered, "She was just like you. Popular, beautiful, and a bitch, "she saw Jennie's quirked eyebrow at the last word, so she added, "Sometimes."
Jennie smiled as she encouraged Y/N to speak further.
"She and I were best friends. But, when I found myself liking her, I wanted us to be more than friends. However, when I confessed, she left me with a slap and a sentence that still rings inside my head, "Y/N paused and closed her eyes, reminiscing the sentence once again.
"She said that she was disgusted by me."
Jennie wanted to say so much, but she decided to keep shut for the moment. Y/N was opening up to her, and she didn't want to ruin the moment by ranting about how amazing she was. Jennie decided to be the listener today.
"But, I was persistent. I tried. I tried so hard to be with her, but when she said she was dating this boy in class, that was the point of no return, "Y/N completed as she was now staring far away into the corner of a room.
Jennie realized that it was by the time the lengthiest Y/N had spoken to her. As she allowed the words to sink in, she comprehended that Y/N might have felt that Jennie was also like her. Not interested in her rather than just being friends. She perceived that Y/N had a legit reason to put this big wall in front of her with feelings of hate to stop herself from hurting once again.
Y/N wiped the lone tear that left her eye and looked up chuckling, saying, "I haven't said that to anyone before. This is absurd."
Jennie stared at Y/N as she bit her inner cheek, trying to find the right moment to interject. She saw Y/N looking back at her with a serious expression.
Y/N took her time to remember every detail on Jennie's face before she said, "And that's why I'm scared of you. I don't want to like you and fall for you, just so you could say that you're dis—"
And this time, Jennie interjected. In a way that had Y/N shocked and felt all the tingling sensations in her body.
Jennie promised that she won't interfere while Y/N was talking, but this was maybe the perfect time and the perfect way to disrupt the latter speaking in between.
The feeling of her lips on Y/N's was her favorite kind.
Y/N's eyes closed when Jennie tilted her head for a better and deeper angle. She could feel all the emotions that the brunette wanted to explain all at once. Her hand came up to rest on Jennie's nape and pulled her closer because she was now feeling intoxicated.
Jennie's kisses were nothing but hypnotizing to her and Y/N wasn't complaining a bit. She let Jennie take control and pulled away when Jennie did so.
"This is my way to tell you that I'm not like her. At all, "Jennie said in between her heavy breathing, "I like you too, Y/N. More than you could ever think of."
Y/N was still processing the kiss as she looked up and stared into Jennie's dark brown orbs. She hadn't confessed about her eyes yet, but now she was about to.
"I love your eyes. They are so fucking deep and beautiful."
Jennie's eyes widened as she heard Y/N cursing for the first time ever in her life. And now it was her new favorite thing. She was immediately pulled in by Y/N again for a kiss that was about to leave both of them breathless.
Y/N's hand tangled in Jennie's soft hair and she held her closer than before, minding her hurt ankle though. She let her other hand trail down her shoulder and down her arm as she held Jennie's wrist and caressed the flesh beneath with her thumb.
Jennie couldn't believe how much of a great kisser Y/N was. She realized that she would've done this before if it meant experiencing this firsthand.
They pulled apart when breathing became an issue and rested their foreheads against each other. As they shared a look after fully pulling away, they both broke into laughter.
"Didn't realize it was this easy to make you confess, "Jennie teased at which Y/N pulled her in for a hug.
Jennie sighed in Y/N's embrace as she realized she almost forgot all about her hurting leg.
"I like you too, Jennie Ruby Jane Kim. Very much, "Y/N said and Jennie's laughter came in muffled as she was snuggling closer to Y/N.
"I like it when you speak my name. Please do so more from now on, "Jennie said and pulled away to look at Y/N with determined yet soft and loving eyes, saying that she would never let her go.
Never, ever.
How was it?
