"Eat up ladies and gent." I said, the fog floating from my mouth as I threw some of the grain to the chicken, they need to be fed after all.
I had put the bucket down, not wanting to pour it out on the ground or it might freeze on it and be uneatable.
I grabbed the old sledgehammer that had been moved here and walked to the fountain, lifting the heavy tool and breaking through the top layer of ice.
I watched a few of the chickens hurry over for a drink, I can only assume after this winter they will finally start laying again because like, we need new chickens for a sustainable source of eggs and maybe meat from them when time comes.
I sighed as I watched them, they didn't seem frozen or all so I'll stop upgrading their living space unless it is really needed or there is more chickens.
I left after a while, leaning the sledgehammer where I got it from and walked out.
I rounded the chicken park and walked up to the nearest little mall, there were little stores too but well a mall has more things.
Even with all these layers it was cold, the temperature was lower then anything else I had in Rain Point before, it snows on the ocean side so of course it gets cold, but this? Damn.
Flashlight on I scanned the store for what I wanted, I didn't come for clothes or anything of the sort.
"There we go." Many 'games' were wrapped in plastic so they held out the moths, bugs and rot that consumed many organic things now so sure a lot of board games have been chewed up but many others remain.
I put in my pockets a few little things easy to carry and grabbed a wrapped up chessboard in hand.
How do I tell Jasmine that I panicked over her touching pieces Vic and dad touched? How do I not sound mental if I tell her my fears of those pieces being cursed for some odd reason?
I walked towards home, she already looked at me like I was crazy for what I did, I had never tried hugging her or really touching her in any way outside of helping her climb the School walls.
"I hope she is not mad at me." I said with a sigh, looking at the board I was carrying before smiling barely, it almost felt odd on my face now. "This one she'll be able to use without fear."
Plus.... Christmas.
It had been a long time since I haven't thought of the Holiday. I had no reason to celebrate it and no one with who to celebrate, it was just another date to live through, another day closer to my inevitable death to come, Christmas had no meaning before... But Jasmine might enjoy a gift or two.
I wonder how Cody is doing, I told him where some of the food would be and well Lucy and Adar are here to help since I am less reachable with the wall but I hope he'll get to live.
Talking of the two, we rarely saw each other as everyone stayed inside to avoid the cold and possibility to catch any sickness.
I easily climbed the wall and hopped down the other side, walki--Slip.
