I write, waiting for the soup to boil, I put the notebook away with a sigh, I was so tired.
The guilt for that boy turned into haunting.... Seeing him die over and over every time I close my eyes.
I distracted myself by reading the recipes from a big binder and trying to cook them to taste them... All while doing that I also vacuum sealed many of the food and had what was once the chef's duffel-bag at the ready to carry them with me if it was needed.
I left the soup and went back into the front of the restaurant, snooping around in the drawers and cupboards until I found their stash of map of the town and unfolded one.
I grabbed my pen and stickers I found along with my still working phone too google places and to make a usable map.
"That's all I am sure for now." I said to myself.
I approached the front door and pushed the table back against it.
I heard a loud noise, loud enough to be heard and I sprinted back to hide.
It was screams that got close, tried banging on the door to open in and then left.
I sighed... Thinking about the other person I maybe caused the death off by hiding.
I brought my hands to my face and knees to my chest, crying into them, this can't be happening, no, all will go back to normal.... Right?
I took a deep breath.... I need to survive so.... Sorry I let you die.... Sorry.... Whoever you are....
I stayed there for days.
Living my life.
Eating whatever.
I was there on my sort of bed until.
The light turned off while I was eating.
"Shit." I hissed, grabbing my phone and yep, it was not charging anymore so no electricity.
I used my phone as a lamp to get to the fridges and filling the duffel-bag with the food as planned and then grabbed bottles from the fridge.
I rolled a cleaning cloth around a knife and put it in my bag, could need it.
I checked if I had my trusty ladle and bat before going to the front door and pulling the table away.
I opened the door and sighed, stepping outside... Back to the real world.
I sighed, looking around, it seemed so.... Calm.
I pulled the map out.
My school was near to here, one block of apartments away north... It is a small school compared to the size of the town but it would be good for me to stay at.
"And maybe.... Maybe I won't die.... I can live...." I smiled, pocketing it and putting my hand in my pocket with it.
I walked away from the restaurant, spinning my bat a little.
I am sorry you both died but I need to survive... Just a bit longer, I need to find something.
As I approached the school grounds I heard the moans and groans.
Lucky it is surrounded by brick walls.... Unlucky it has only one entrance gate.... Sooo....
I walked away from it since it was opened, not wanting it to be spotted.
I walked to the nearby alley to the left of it, passing a book store and the was a car on the left of it.
I took a deep breath and smashed in the window, the car alarm starting right away. I ran around to the front of the book store and hid behind the book shelves.
I came here several times because I loved reading and buying more then needed so I knew of the window in the small bathroom they had.
I creeped to the back and to the bathroom, opening the window, the blaring of the car got louder.
I just pulled myself out and ran as fast as I could to the school.
I sprinted as fast as my legs carried me, morbid curiosity wanting to know how many I attracted with the car but I didn't let it win.
I slammed the gate behind me, looking around and picking up a left behind jumping cord around the two gates pieces and tied it in a tight knot so it is hard to open for mindless husks.
"Husks?" I asked myself, backing up to the school, standing by the entrance of it. "Husks.... That's a better name then Zombies." I said with a nod. "Yeah much better then Zombies." I smiled slightly, finding it somehow reassuring in a weird way.
In a weird, weird way....
