I have visited the town to the left of Rain-point so I decided to take my bike and go through with my idea to go visit the little farm house I saw.
I sighed, remembering how happily I spoke to Vic about my hope that somehow chickens of something survived, technically my points still stand, chickens eat everything and as long as there is water they will cannibalize anything to survive.
I didn't have much hope but curiosity was still there because as long as I have not seen it I can't tell if yes or no I am in the wrong.
So I just sat on my bike and rode off.
These fields have not been harvested for four years now, I never knew wheat can grow twice the height of a human if left as is.
Tho it gave me a bit of anxiety.
The only thing I could see clearly was the road I was on, most of the view and part of the sky blocked out by the wheat field so I could see nothing that was not the road ahead of me.
Who knows if a husk was hiding in the field, there is way more chance for the to be real then the possibility of it not being anything.
After a few hours I stopped peddling, looking at the little side road made of dirt only which I remember leads to the farmhouse, it was now overgrown with wheat making it impossible to see the end of it.
I got off the bike and pulled the cop-knife out of the holster and the gun too, I took none of the rest with me and even have a completely empty bag outside of water and a pack of crackers, it is just plants but I can't swing through them with a bat easily.
I took a breather and stepped into the tunnel created by the wheat bending, forcing me to duck down slightly.
The tunnel seemed much longer then it should be but I guess it is my nerves getting to me, it was dark here too, I could see but not colors so it is impressive.
What was unnerving was the lack of sounds, it was silent outside but it was worst here, out on the road the wind was brushing the plants around but here I was the only thing making noise.
When the tunnel of plants starter the brighten up I knew I was almost out of it.
And I was greeted with quite a surprise.
The farmhouse looked exactly the same as last time, and in these times, it is telling.
"Someone's here." I told myself, putting the knife away as it was for husks, I am not about to fight hand to hand with a human, I have not even read a book on it, I got lucky with Adam and how instinct and whatever book and action movies I've seen had a hint of reality in it.
I held the gun with two hand, a finger already on the trigger.
I approached the picket fence and opened the little gate, the white paint was chipping off it but the hinges were not creaking so someone was taking care of them... Was someone here for long? They could be dangerous for me.
I walked the little dirt road to the farmhouse, it was a white, old, building of wood, almost like the one I remember from Hershal in The Walking Dead, is that even the name of that dude? The veterinary grandpa? Whatever, I'd be off so well if I was one of those characters, surviving easily and swimmingly but no.... I am Andie Nova motherfucking Lokovis, the biology nerd of a student that took up parkour courses to annoy her father and resident husk expert.... Fuck my life.
I approached the door and, despite it all, decided to knock.
And I heard shuffling inside.
