"I still can't understand how you did this?" Jasmine asked, helping me stack the cloth bags of concrete mix by the side of the wall to make the step up and step off point not out of a broken plastic bin anymore.
"Just go get water." I grumbled.
My leg had been tightly wrapped and I know I should rest it but I have a few things to do.
I need my map less and less, it has been four years after all, but I still keep it on me all times like this one when I just want to have something to look at to have an idea what I wanna work towards.
After we get the concrete bags wet we need for it to set so we should visit what it named as the mini park now, if I remember it right it has two exit gates.
If we can block off one and secure the other we could free the chickens and rooster in there and if they breed then we can have more chickens and roosters in the future.... They do eat grass but we'll need to feed them too for their nutriments and also bring water.
"After we are done here we'll head to what is called mini park, it will be a few days work but we'll set up a chicken home there." I told the girl as she came back with buckets of water that seemed heavier for her then they were for me.
I grabbed one and dumped it on the bags.
"Cool! It was getting sad seeing them cooped up all day in their little home."
"Well lucky us there is a small store, even if I labeled it mall with my stickers, nearby so the walk will not be long, come on."
The mini park was not that small but compared to the rest of the parks it was.
There was a dried up fountain in the middle with the most of it grass with a few benches along a gravel road.
The gates were better built then the school's one, the lower section of it was already blocked off so we'd just need to fill the gap under it and between the bars to keep chicks, chicken or roosters from getting through it plus the high walls all round and no trees would keep the birds contained.
"Alright child, get ready to become a carpenter because if I know one thing about animal husbandry it is that they need shelter just like us and we should build something or they will freeze, have a heatstroke or anything."
"But I am no carpenter." She grumbled, crossing her arms.
"Oh trust me, I am not one either but well what must be done will be done."
From the same place that we got the concrete, we carried several things we could use like for example planks of wood, it has been protected inside a store for four years and usually wood is treated with something.
I was currently also brushing wood sealer in heavy layers on the wood and it was drinking it up.... Jasmine was given a hammer and nail with several already done planks lines up with one perpendicularly across the top half and nailing it down.... We were making progress tho slow, I am not even sure she should be touching those pieces of wood yet.
At least I am sure this way the wood cannot rot, water repellent stuff.
But to be sure it is a good habitat we'll have a lot to do, insulate it somehow for example.... And we are just on hammering wood together.
"Hey don't dent the wood!" I said when she hit it instead of the nail.
"Suck my ass!"
"Talk normally young lady!"
"The world has ended, you don't tell me what to do!"
"Now more then ever yes, yes I tell you what to do so stop cussing at me or I will let you sleep with the chickens."
"Jeez what crawled up your ass and died?"
"Life.... Get back to work now."
"Yes moooooom."
"Shut up." She stuck her tongue out before spitting as a fly, that bro, decided to land right on it.
I rolled my eye as she swung the hammer towards the fly.... Was I such a little shit dad?
