"Oh my god." Adar was amazed when I pointed myself in their new home with earphone in and music playing on my phone.
"I have some rudimentary electricity and rarely use this so it still works." I said, pocketing the earphones.
"You are a genius." He always felt heartfelt in anything he said.
"You are quite blunt."
"Yeah sorry about that." That's a good thing for me, he won't go behind my back and lie.... I hope at least that he won't and instead will talk to me, you need too if you want to stay here.
"It's fine but it wasn't me, my father worked the system out and taught me so it's him the genius. If we remain partners I might show you where to get a phone, charger and your own electricity but I don't trust yet."
"I understand." He said with his smile. "I really should thank him, because of him that you have so much."
"Not exactly but yeah, he helped with a lot. It was him that joined me when I had everything set up."
"Oh well still, electricity must be nice."
"It is, we even have a working fridge!" Jasmine pipped up.
"No way! I need to meet that boss of a man."
"I am sorry but he is long gone, two years now I suppose."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"It's fine. Where is your friend, we need to show you around."
"Right here." I looked to the side.
"You were so silent I didn't even notice you!" Jasmine said.
"Yeah, don't sneak up on me or you might get hurt, just a warning." I added. "Now here you go." I held out a map to each off them. "I marked a few locations on them, you can add more, there are still stickers in the shops."
It was much barer then my own but it will be their job to figure out what they want to mark more precisely.
"That's real chickens?" Lucy asked, more lively then her previous voice.
"Yeah, come on."
As we were walking towards them, I saw them glancing at the last grave mark not brought away by the wind.
"Yeah its here you can meet my father." I had passingly said, not wishing to have questions about it and stuff.
Both looked so amazed at the DIY chicken coop, now it also had concrete mix poured and dried on the benches and the wood on there for even more 'holding power', each time I thought of a way to make it better doing so.
"Oh wow." Adar breathed out as I threw the chickens the mushrooms from the rack under the bridge so they had to eat but this time without opening the gates. They are starting to round up so their metabolism should start to be able to produce eggs again soon.
"Yeah, I bought my way into her heart with these chickens!" Jasmine said. "And my puns."
"They are lame." I told her as she threw a piece of dry bread she kept in with her, breaking piece of and throwing them in each time we visited the chickens.
"They are perfect!" She argued back.
"I never thought I'd see any farm animals alive." Adar said.
"Animals are not idiots, they already hid from normal humans and can smell infections easier so they'd hide even more from husks, many wild animals, be it pets before the Great Silence or already wild, will live one with their lives, I have a few pets."
"And what are they?" Adar seemed to love small talk while I was having trouble, not having to talk a lot even with Jasmine plus I didn't know them.
"Two fish I first found when I came to make the School my home, Jessy and James, and a cat I found around two maybe three years ago called Whiskers and now the chickens called Einz, Twei and Drei with the rooster Vier."
"And a plant she calls Jeremy."
"Jasmine!" I said as I heard a laugh from the boy.
"It's human nature to name things we care about, to the risk of sounding like and idiot I had named my handgun 007, double-O seven, like James Bond, the spy, because it saved my life many times."
"Don't be careless with bullets, a limited resource." I warned.
"Of course, of course." He nodded.
"Anyhow, There is metal fencing around the soccer stadium and those were what I used for walls with concrete as you as at the house, after I showed you around you will both help me secure the area got it?"
"Ay ay captain." He did a two finger salute.
I sighed, I sure hope they won't be trouble in the future.
