"Are you not worried he'll hurt us? From what you said you chased him and his friends away."
"I know that and I hope this time when I decided to trust someone that I did the good choice." I said with a sigh, emptying the bucket in the base of the fountain, I never took the time to completely fill it because it took a lot but Lucy helped me when I finally decided to get this over with... It should last a long time, maybe filling it once in a week max.
Yet again we had added to the chicken home, not wanting them to freeze to death in the coming winter, I'll stop worrying it this winter goes on without a hitch.
"Do you even know where he is staying?" She asked, emptying her bucket too, we hadn't really assigned roles of who'd do what, I usually told them what to do if needed but Lucy was really animal friendly so most times I even started to forget someone needed to look after the chickens because she had already taken care of it, instilling a habit is useful.
"Probably in the museum I told him about or somewhere else but I can't be sure, I didn't go to look for him."
"Mmm." She was unsure and I was too but I guess me caution was rubbing off on them after the few months together.
"Anyhow, how's life for you two? I haven't had neighbors in a while."
"Really? Small talk?"
"Don't mock me." I shoved her a bit with the ghost of a smile, putting the bucket down since I didn't need it anymore today.
"Oh I will." She said with a much more visible grin. "You should smile, I bet it would fit you."
"I'll smile when I feel like it."
"Sure... What now, we are done here?"
"Well I was thinking of hitting up a fire station, there are two in town, we don't really need to tools in them for the moment but now that I let him stay here I just don't want him to get a fire axe and decide revenge is worth it."
"Oh yeah that could be dangerous, purely from movies there are at least fire axes, crowbars or bolt cutters." She said.
"And we both know movies took away the more complicated stuff... Plus their outfits, they should be added protection."
"How can you keep all this in your thoughts and not loose track." She opened the gate and we went out before closing it right away.
"Trust me, ideas come and go, so many things can be done and not, it is hard to remember it all sometimes."
"Well we are here now so you are not alone to think about it."
"Sure I guess."
"Should we go now?" She was way too happy for this world.... Such a waste.
I nodded, but I guess I'll look out to make sure this world doesn't break her more since everyone is broken in this hellhole.
"Alright, lets go."
I already chipped at what goodness remained, to save her from that hoard I needed to hurt her, I guess I just need to make up for that by protecting her.
