Conrad was already used to Kaia's hands-off approach—she never bothered with company matters. Sometimes, he even wondered if she trusted him too much, not even worried he might just take the company for himself.
"I'm at the Kaye Bella store on Britera Pedestrian Walk…" Kaia recounted everything to Conrad.
"Alright, just wait a moment. I'll contact the manager of that store," Conrad said.
Rita looked at Kaia with a mocking grin. "So, did you actually get anyone important? I don't have all day to waste on you. I'll give you one more minute, and if you still—"
Before Rita could finish, the manager's phone rang. It was a call from the regional manager.
"Wait a moment, Mr. Dorsey will call you himself," the regional manager said.
The manager's jaw dropped in shock. She was just a manager of a branch store. Normally, the highest she'd deal with was the regional manager.
For a moment, she felt both honored and a little panicked that the boss was calling her.
Her heart was pounding in her chest when Conrad's call finally came through.
"Is there a woman called Kaia Bennett in the store?" Conrad asked.
The manager glanced over at Kaia, recalling that Rita had just mentioned her name. 'President Hua is calling me himself... is it really because of her?' she wondered.
"Yes, she's here," the manager replied.
"Let's cut to the chase. She can take anything she wants from the store, no charge. And don't worry, you'll still get your commission," Conrad said.
The manager was stunned by what Conrad said. After hanging up, she turned stiffly to Kaia. "M-Miss Bennett, I'll pack up this dress for you right away."
No one could believe what just happened.
Both Rita and Penny were dumbfounded.
"Alright, go ahead." Kaia handed the dress to the manager and said to Penny, "Let's keep browsing."
It took Penny a moment to find her voice. "K-Kaia, what's going on?"
Kaia smiled. "Didn't I tell you? I know people."
Penny's eyes widened in disbelief. She wondered, 'Who exactly does she know? Someone with more influence than the Parsons family, who are business partners?'
Seeing the manager actually packing the dress, Rita was furious. "Hey! Who told you to pack that for her? My family is a partner! I want that dress. You can only sell it to me!"
The manager said with a polite smile, "I'm sorry, miss, but this dress can't be sold to you."
Though Penny still didn't fully understand what was going on, seeing Rita get put in her place like that was incredibly satisfying.
"Hey, Rita, quit yelling like some fishwife. The store is not selling you the dress. What, you think you can just force them to hand it over?" Penny shot back.
She deliberately raised her voice so everyone could hear, giving Rita a taste of her own medicine—after all, Rita had shouted insults at Kaia earlier just to embarrass her in front of the whole store.
Rita was so mad she could practically cough up blood. At that moment, the manager finished packing the dress and handed it over to Kaia.
"Miss Bennett, here's your dress," the manager said.
Rita stared at the bag, feeling like the manager was flaunting it right in front of her. Acting on impulse, she suddenly snatched the dress away.
"Miss, please don't do that," the manager said.
As the manager tried to take the dress back, Rita completely lost it and slapped her hard across the face.
"Pathetic nobody! How dare a lowly shop assistant like you talk back to me? Who do you think you are?" Rita snarled.
The manager clutched her face, eyes brimming with tears, looking completely flustered. The slapped cheek hurt and felt like it was burning.
"Unbelievable! You actually dared to lay a hand on my staff!" Kaia's eyes blazed with fury.
Without hesitation, she lunged forward and slapped Rita so hard that the latter spun around and fell straight onto the floor.
