The moment the three families got the news, they immediately told their racing representatives to attack Kaia.
The reply they got was: [We want to, damn it! The problem is, we have to be able to catch up first!]
Watching their cars left eating Kaia's dust, the heads of the three families just stared at each other, speechless.
They couldn't even get close enough to touch her rear bumper.
The preliminary race ended with Kaia's easy win.
Conrad rushed over to Kaia. "Miss Bennett, are you alright? Should I take you to the hospital?"
"I'm fine," Kaia replied, but her head was getting dizzier. She just wanted to go home and rest.
"Are you really fine?" Conrad asked worriedly.
Kaia replied, "If something was wrong, would I have been able to win the race?"
"Good point! Miss Bennett, you were amazing! The Horton family, the Fowler family…" At this point, Conrad turned toward Gideon in the distance, who was standing near the Horton family head, Luther Horton. His eyes were filled with hostility.
Gideon and Luther noticed it too. Gideon frowned, thinking that no matter how angry Conrad was, he wouldn't go against the Fowler family for Gale's sake.
But that look in his eyes, and his tone just now, made it obvious. He was really mad…
Kaia was just about to leave when she was blocked by Russell and Tobias.
'Wait, did these two figure out who I am?' Kaia thought to herself.
"Gale! I'm your biggest fan!" Russell grabbed Kaia's hand, shaking it excitedly.
Kaia winced. She had been holding it together, but that sudden shake yanked at the wound on her forehead.
"What happened to your head? You're hurt? Quick, take off your helmet, let me see." Russell looked worried, and if he hadn't been afraid she'd resist, he would have taken it off for her himself.
Tobias frowned. For some reason, hearing Gale's muffled groan made his chest tighten.
Inside the helmet, Kaia's nose was filled with the heavy scent of blood, and she could feel warm liquid dripping down.
"I'll take you to the hospital. If you refuse, I'll quit right now! To hell with being a president!" Conrad was genuinely angry.
Of course, not at Kaia, but at the Fowler and Horton families.
Kaia knew she wasn't in great shape. She had medical skills, but a doctor couldn't treat themselves. It was better to go to the hospital.
"Fine," she said.
Hearing her agree, Conrad let out a long breath of relief.
A moment ago, he'd been thinking, if she insisted on not going, he'd just have to roll up his sleeves and force her.
Conrad quickly opened the car door. Kaia, feeling dizzy, failed to notice a rock at her feet, tripped, and pitched forward.
Tobias swiftly caught her arm, helping her steady herself before she fell.
"Thank you," Kaia said politely.
Feeling the touch of her arm in his palm, Tobias frowned even more. "Have we met before?"
"I don't think so." Kaia was worried that if the conversation went on, her cover would be blown, so she didn't linger and got in the car immediately.
Tobias watched the car leave. A minute later, he took out his phone and sent Kaia a message. [What are you doing?]
Kaia shook her head when she saw the message. Just as she thought, he was suspicious.
She replied: [Just about to sleep.]
Tobias wasn't giving up. [Can we video call?]
