Kaia texted back: [Sleeping.]

After leaving the hospital with her wound bandaged, Conrad wouldn't stop nagging.
He said, "Miss Bennett, you remember what the doctor said, right? The wound isn't deep, but it's not shallow either. When you shower tonight, don't get it wet. Also, no overexertion, no staying up late, no..."
"Alright, alright. I've heard your 'six no's' principle several times now. If I hear it again, I'll be overexerted," Kaia said helplessly.
Conrad wanted to keep talking, but after that remark, he shut his mouth.
After a moment, he said again, "You shouldn't compete in the finals next week."
"Not happening." Kaia refused.
Conrad glanced at the bandage on her head. "What? You're going with that injury? Are you kidding me? Gideon isn't just despicable, he's ruthless. Even if you weren't hurt, I wouldn't want you to go, let alone now. Developing Pioneer Retreat might be important, but compared to your safety, it's worth nothing. I absolutely won't agree."
Kaia gave him a sidelong glance. "Is this my company, or yours? Are you trying to seize power?"
"Oh, so you do remember it's your company? I thought you'd forgotten." Conrad seized the chance to complain.
"It's all on my shoulders, and I'm working myself to death. Before, I could understand you being busy preparing for the SAT, but now you've already gotten into Morganburg University. You could spare a little time to handle some business affairs. But you... Hey! What the hell!"
Before he could finish, Kaia had hailed a taxi and fled.
When she returned to Moreno Manor, she saw the Maybach parked in the garage. She thought, 'He's back already? Did he go into my room?'
At the thought, Kaia's heart gave a jolt. She hurried upstairs, stopped at her bedroom door, and peeked at the crack. There was no light inside.
She let out a sigh of relief.
She pushed the door open and turned on the light.
The next second, Kaia was startled to see a man sitting on her bed.
Kaia blurted out, "Why are you in my room?"
Tobias stood and closed the distance between them step by step. "Didn't you say you were sleeping?"
"Oh, I was about to sleep then, but later I couldn't, so I went out for a walk," Kaia said evenly.
Tobias was right in front of her now, eyes falling on the bucket hat she wore.
"Why are you wearing a hat this late at night?" he asked.
"My hair's a mess, couldn't be bothered to comb it," Kaia replied.
Without giving him a chance to ask more, Kaia yawned.
"It's getting late, and I'm beat. I'm going to bed," she said.
As Kaia walked past Tobias, he reached out and caught her arm.
Stopped in her tracks, Kaia looked up at Tobias Moreno.
"Do you need something else?" she asked.
"Not really. I just think your hat looks nice. Let me borrow it." His gaze returned to the hat.
"You don't have a hat of your own?" Kaia's brows drew together slightly.
"It's just a hat. Why are you so protective of it?" Tobias teased.
She retorted, "Of course I am. I told you. My hair's messy. You know how important image is for us."
"Is that all?" Tobias narrowed his eyes.
"You're being ridiculous. I'm not wasting time on you." Kaia pulled her arm free.
The next second, out of the corner of her eye, she saw his hand reaching for the top of her head.
