As they walked, Pauline suddenly spoke. "Eh? That girl looks kind of familiar."
Tobias didn't think much of it until the old lady said again, "She looks like your fiancée."
Tobias immediately followed Pauline's gaze, and sure enough, he saw Kaia and wondered why she was wearing a hospital gown.
Kaia sensed someone staring at her with a burning gaze. She turned her head in confusion, then quickly looked away and walked off.
"Dr... Miss Bennett, what's wrong? Didn't you want to come out for a walk? Why are you going back so soon? Is it your head injury making you dizzy again?" Lenka asked worriedly, chasing after her.
Tobias glanced at Devin and instructed, "Support my grandmother."
"Yes, boss." Devin nodded.
Tobias strode quickly after Kaia and finally stopped her.
Kaia's lips twitched helplessly as she said, "What a coincidence?"
Tobias's gaze fell on the bandage around her forehead. His cold face hardened.
He asked, "You're injured! How did you get hurt?"
"I—" Kaia stammered.
Tobias lashed out at her, "Don't tell me you bumped into something while you were out eating with friends last night!"
Kaia moved her mouth slightly, her eyebrows furrowing.
Tobias stared at her, his thin lips pursed tightly, and his face was grim.
Lenka stood aside, glancing between Kaia and Tobias, dying to know what was going on between them.
After a long while, Tobias spoke first. "Was it caused by racing last night?"
At those words, Kaia's head snapped up, waves of unrest rippling in her beautiful eyes.
"So it really was you!" Tobias raised his hand and grabbed Kaia's arm with both hands.
"Why didn't you tell me you are Gale! You knew I was going to participate in the Pioneer Retreat competition and was looking for Gale. You're my fiancée. Why did you represent K&B? And what is your relationship with Conrad? Why did you side with him? Is it because I'm an outsider to you?" With each word Tobias spoke, he grew angrier and angrier.
Anyone could see he was burning with jealousy.
Lenka covered her mouth. Her curiosity was practically written all over her face.
She thought, 'Oh my god! Fiancée! Dr. Bennett is actually engaged. If this gets out, it will definitely cause a sensation throughout Wustriland.'
Lenka's eyes fell on Tobias's stunningly handsome face, and suddenly Andrea's words popped into her mind.
Andrea had said Kaia was being kept by some old man. If she knew that her so-called "old man" looked like this, she'd probably pass out from sheer shock.
Kaia took Tobias's hand off her shoulder. "First, thank you for caring so much about me. But I should tell you, our engagement is over. Once I find a suitable place to live, I'll move out. And I want to make this clear. Conrad and I are not what you think. Say what you want about me, but Conrad is in his prime and single. If rumors spread, how will he ever find a girlfriend?"
Just those few words lightened Tobias's mood, and his face softened.
Still, he asked, "Are you really not in that kind of relationship with him?"
Kaia rolled her eyes at the man.
Tobias grinned, flashing white teeth. Even her eye roll looked beautiful to him now that he was in a good mood.
"I just love hearing you explain yourself to me," Tobias teased.
Tobias didn't think much of it until the old lady said again, "She looks like your fiancée."
