Kaia couldn't be bothered to roll her eyes again.
"But—" Tobias suddenly straightened, his smile vanishing, his face tightening again. "I'm still upset that you got hurt because of Conrad."
Kaia supported her forehead and said helplessly, "Then, should I get injured for you next time? Will that balance things out?"
"No." Tobias's eyebrows furrowed deeply, and he declared, "I won't allow you to get hurt because of me!"
Suddenly, something hit Kaia like a ripple through still water. Her heart skipped a beat, but her face stayed calm.
Tobias suddenly curved his lips, surveying Kaia with a proud look in his eyes. "As expected of my fiancée, you're far too talented. I'm really curious. How many other hidden talents do you have? I really want to uncover them all."
Kaia just looked at him with a half-smile and said nothing.
"By the way, Russell is one of your biggest fans. If he knew you were his racing idol, Gale, he'd probably go insane," Tobias continued, talking to himself.
At that moment, Devin helped Pauline walk over.
Tobias said unhappily, "Devin, didn't I tell you to stay put with my grandmother? Her legs aren't strong. Why did you bring her over?"
Devin was covered in cold sweat.
"Don't blame Devin. I asked him to help me over." Pauline looked at Kaia and Tobias standing together with a smile. "Can't I take a look at my future granddaughter-in-law?"
"Hello, Mdm. Walsh." Kaia greeted politely.
Pauline said with a smile, "You are engaged to Tobias, sweetheart. Don't be so polite. Just call me Pauline."
"He and I—" Kaia was about to explain, but Tobias cut her off. "Grandma is right, Kaia. Don't be so formal."
Both of their reactions caught Kaia off guard and softened her heart.
Then her eyes fell on Pauline's legs and pale face. Suddenly, she understood why Tobias had interrupted her, so she said, "Pauline."
"Oh! Wonderful!" Pauline looked pleased.
Tobias knew that Kaia was just so kind.
"It's about time for your appointment. Grandma, let me take you to the doctor," Tobias said, checking his watch.
"Okay." Pauline nodded.
Kaia looked at Pauline's legs and crouched down, pressing gently on them.
This made both Tobias and Pauline glance at each other in surprise.
After a few seconds, Kaia looked up and said, "Pauline, you've had this chronic arthritis for at least twenty years, right?"
Pauline was surprised. "Yes! It has indeed been more than twenty years. How did you know?"
"I just gave a few squeezes earlier. That's how I figured it out," Kaia replied casually.
"You know medicine?" Tobias asked in shock.
"A little." Kaia was being modest.
"Wow, I almost believed you were a trained doctor. If that were true, you'd be a total jack-of-all-trades." Tobias said. For a brief moment, he really thought so.
Later, after hearing Kaia's answer and thinking about it carefully, he figured it was unlikely that Kaia would have excellent medical skills.
Tobias pondered, 'Smart people can pick up things like playing chess, racing, floral art, car repair, and so on quickly. But medicine requires experience, countless clinical trials, and years of practice. Normally, the older the doctor, the better the skill.
'But Kaia is only 20 years old, and her life has barely begun. How could she have that kind of medical experience?'
Just as Tobias was thinking this, Kaia said, "Why don't you let me try? I'm pretty sure I can heal Pauline's legs."
