"My parents brought him here. He just arrived today," Kaia replied truthfully.
Tobias could tell that the parents Kaia mentioned referred to the adoptive parents in the countryside.
Tobias said, "So your parents are here. Why didn't you tell me earlier? I would have picked them up myself."
"They're my parents, not yours," Kaia emphasized.
"No difference," Tobias said with a smile.
Kaia was speechless again. "Didn't you find a doctor to see your grandma today? If I've told you, would you have time to pick them up?"
Tobias smiled. "She's not just my grandma."
Kaia was at a loss for words.
She rolled her eyes. "Can we have a serious conversation? I'm hanging up if you don't drop that."
Tobias quickly spoke up, "Sorry, I'll be serious."
Seeing Tobias going along with Kaia so well, Scott guessed the two were pretty close.
Tobias said again, "That medical expert sent a message earlier saying that something came up and she'd be here in a bit. Once she gets here and sees Grandma, I'll come find you."
"No need. Just take care of your grandma." With that, Kaia, who was rushing to see Pauline, was about to hang up the phone. "I have something to do, so I'm hanging up."
"Okay, see you later." Tobias's voice was gentle and magnetic, revealing tenderness.
Kaia felt a flutter in her heart as she listened and quickly coughed lightly before hanging up the phone.
At the hospital, Pauline looked at Tobias with a smile.
"That girl, Kaia, is really great. You must cherish her."
"I will." Tobias's tone was full of determination.
"Speaking of which, that girl has a good sense of humor," Pauline said, recalling the past.
Tobias was stunned for a moment. "Good sense of humor? What makes you say that?"
Pauline said, "Some time ago, she came to see me, telling me she was the medical expert. I knew she said that to make me happy."
Tobias was deep in thought after hearing Pauline's words.
If Kaia had said that in the past, he would have taken it as a joke.
However, after so many things, he found it more difficult to see her through.
Time passed by, and Tobias looked towards the door of the ward from time to time, waiting for the medical expert to arrive.
Knock! A knock came from outside.
"That medical expert must be here! I'll open the door." Devin quickly walked to the ward door and opened it.
Tobias's eyes also looked over immediately, and he saw a man wearing a hat standing at the door, his face tightly covered, and Tobias couldn't see his face clearly.
"You are the medical expert who cured the SR Alliance?" Devin asked uncertainly.
Although this person was tightly covered, judging from the overall image, he was quite young, at most in his early twenties.
"It's me." Kaia lowered her voice.
Then her gaze shifted, meeting Tobias's bright eyes, which were fixed on her.
She couldn't help but wonder, 'Why is he looking at me like that? Has he recognized me again?
'Today, I'm not only dressed as a man but also in disguise. Can he still recognize me? Or am I overthinking it, and he's just curiously observing me?'
"Please, come in." Devin gestured.
Kaia nodded and walked in, ignoring Tobias's gaze, and went straight to Pauline. "Are you the patient?"
"Yes, doctor. I've had this cold leg for many years. Do you think it can be cured?" Pauline looked at Kaia with hopeful eyes.
"Let me take a look first," Kaia said, but in fact, she was already confident that she could cure Pauline's leg.
