Kaia didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "From the very beginning, I didn't think of using Tobias' money. I can afford the bracelets."
"Can you? Do you have so much money?" Penny asked with doubt.
On the stage, Owen shouted, "Three million dollars, once, three million, twice. Any bids?"
With resentment, Louis looked at Kaia, who had stolen the spotlight.
The Bennett family was stunned by their thought that Kaia's sugar daddy was so rich and generous.
Louis gritted his teeth so hard that he soon became breathless. "Three million and thirty thousand dollars!"
Kaia raised her paddle. "Six million dollars."
Again, the others gasped with shock. How rich! In comparison to Kaia, Louis looked like a fool at that moment.
With his head down, Louis thought, 'What a disgrace!'
The Bennett family looked aghast while wondering about the identity of Kaia's sugar daddy.
"Six million dollars, sold!" Owen's hammer came down. "Now, the emerald bracelets belong to No. 98."
Kaia paid the bill, and the emerald bracelets were delivered. "Here you are. One for each of you."
Kaia gave the two emerald bracelets to Penny and Samantha respectively.
Without hesitation, Samantha accepted the gift. "Thank you, Kaia."
Penny was so stunned that her mouth was wide open. "You, me?"
After a nod, Kaia said, "Don't you like it? You waved your wrist before me and said that it needed the emerald bracelet."
Penny stood frozen. 'That is why Kaia raised her paddle. She got the bracelet for me,' she thought.
Her eyes quickly turned red. "Kaia, you... You are so good to me. I don't know how to repay your kindness."
"Nonsense! Don't you see me as your friend? Shouldn't I be good to my friend?" Kaia was moved by Penny's tears, took out a tissue, and wiped them away.
"It is too costly for me." Penny found it hard to accept the gift.
"Costly? Come on! Just six million dollars," Kaia said casually.
In a trance, Penny looked at Kaia and thought, 'I find her more mysterious than before as time ticks by. She impressed me with quite a few surprises.'
Andrea's eyes were red with jealousy. Andrea turned to Ruth after her eyes rolled. "Alas, sis is so spendthrift. She spent six million dollars on two emerald bracelets and gifted them to others."
Hearing Andrea, the unhappy Ruth had anger in her eyes. She was mad at the spendthrift and generous Kaia even if the latter had nothing to do with her anymore.
"Just ignore her. Besides, she isn't your sister anymore. She is unqualified to be. Understand?" she shouted.
Andrea nodded obediently. "I'm sorry, Mom. Don't be angry with me. I promise I won't see her as my sister anymore."
Halfway through the auction, Kaia finally found something suitable for Penny's mother.
"This ginseng is as old as one century. As you can see, it is perfect. It is rare in the market. I hate wasting your time. The starting price is three million dollars," Owen said on the stage.
"It's great!" Lincoln exclaimed. "I wonder who can take it home tonight."
Maisie looked at Louis. "Your grandfather's birthday is coming up. Get it."
"Okay, Mom." Louis raised his paddle. "Four million dollars."
Then followed another voice, "Five million dollars."
"Six million."
"Eight million dollars."
The auction went on.
Before Louis put down his paddle, the bid for the ginseng soon reached 15 million dollars.
"Damn it! It is mine!" Louis raised his paddle again. "15 million dollars."
"30 million dollars," Kaia shouted.
'What!' Thinking, Louis clutched his paddle, stiffly turned his head, and looked at Kaia.
'30 million dollars? How dare she! Can her sugar daddy give her so much money? No way! Impossible!' he thought.
Even Samantha was astounded, let alone of Penny.
Samantha leaned over and whispered, "Kaia, I can help if you don't have enough money for this ginseng. In return, more training for me."
She demanded something in return because she was clear that Kaia was proud.
Kaia looked at Samantha calmly. "Thanks for your kindness. I can solve the problem myself."
Right then sounded a voice, "60 million dollars."
Kaia responded, "150 million dollars."
The other gasped with astonishment. In the private room upstairs, Russell withdrew his gaze from Kaia.
He asked, "Tobias, Kaia is the focus of attention tonight. I know her, so I don't think she will ask you for money. Am I right?"
"She has money." Tobias picked up his coffee and sipped it with his gaze fixed on the pretty Kaia again.
"Are you talking about the 3 billion dollars she swindled from Gideon?" Russell asked as something popped into mind.
Tobias corrected Russel with a serious expression. "What swindle? A good lesson for his foolishness."
Russell clicked his tongue. "I didn't know that you were so protective of her. Fine, no swindle, and she just taught him a good lesson.
"By the way, what on earth did she tell Gideon, so he doesn't cause trouble after the loss of so much money?"
With his eyebrows knitted, Tobias murmured, "I asked her, but she said nothing."
Right then, a male voice sounded and drew the attention of Tobias and Russell. "300 million dollars."
"Who is he? How dare he fight against Mr. Moreno's woman for the ginseng!" Russell looked in the direction of the voice, saw a face, and was stunned. "Gideon? It is Gideon. Does he do so to get back at Kaia?"
Tobias raised his hand and rubbed his chin. "I don't think so. Gideon must fail to see the problem since he hasn't caused trouble for Kaia recently. In other words, it is unlikely for him to make things difficult for her in public. I prefer to believe that he will play the dirty trick if he wants to."
"If you are right, Gideon must want that ginseng very much." Russell found Tobias' analysis reasonable.
Kaia looked back at Gideon and saw his flattering look.
