Tobias's answer brought a happy smile to Kaia, and the look in her eyes became soft.
Bianca sobbed. "Toby, how hurtful your remarks are! We grew up together. Am I that inferior to a woman you just got acquainted a few months ago?"
"Yes," Tobias answered decisively. Bianca was badly hurt again.
Kaia didn't have the slightest sympathy for the tearful Bianca. She knew Bianca well, and the latter didn't deserve her sympathy at all.
"Kaia! Kaia! Kaia! All her bad! I will go find her and make her give you back to me," Bianca shouted.
Kaia walked out from behind a pillar. "To give him back to you? Bianca, you are so ridiculous. Never has he been yours, so why should I give him to you?"
Like Tobias' remarks, Kaia's was a stab in Bianca's heart.
Kaia walked to Tobias and stopped next to him. Looking at the perfect match, Bianca burst out crying and ran away.
Tobias gave his explanation for fear that Kaia misunderstood him. "She pestered me, and I stood firmly. However, she didn't let me leave."
"Okay," Kaia murmured. "I know." Then, she found Tobias staring at her. "Why are you staring at me?"
Tobias frowned. "You don't seem jealous at all." Hearing this, Kaia came to see why Tobias was unhappy.
She thought, 'How interesting! Tobias is jealous when I hang out with my male friends. He is unhappy when I show no jealousy of the women around him.'
"Hey, can't you be reasonable?" she teased.
Tobias flashed Kaia a charming smile, raised his hand, and pointed at his hand with one finger. "I can't when it comes to you."
Kaia felt speechless. "Let's go. It's late, and I will have a long day tomorrow." She pulled the car door open and took the passenger seat.
Tobias got in the car and asked curiously, "Why? The new semester hasn't begun yet."
He found that Kaia went out a lot and came home late. His curiosity about her mounted. Out of respect, he didn't let his men investigate her.
"I will visit the Bennett family tomorrow." Speaking, Kaia had her beautiful eyes narrowed.
Hearing this, Tobias withdrew his foot from the gas pedal, looked at Kaia, and asked, "Why? Won't they cause trouble for you again?"
He was worried because her last visit to the Bennett family was very unhappy.
"No." Kaia held the reason for her visit back from Tobias; otherwise, her identity as Dr. Miracle would be exposed.
Tobias was smart enough to know that he could get nothing out of Kaia.
"Do you need my bodyguards to go with you? Aren't you close with Frank?" he asked.
"No, don't tell him. I'll go by myself." Kaia knew that Joel would insist on going with her once he got the news.
Tobias narrowed his eyes and said slowly, "Okay, but promise me that let me know once there is trouble."
"You have my word," Kaia responded.
The next morning, Tobias called Joel over. Devin, standing next to Tobias, pursed his lips at the sight of Joel. He was determined to keep the secret from Tobias that Frank was Joel.
Tobias noticed Devin's weird reaction and asked, "Anything on your mind?"
Hearing this, Joel darted Devin a warning look. Under pressure, Devin replied, "No."
Tobias then shifted his gaze from Devin to Joel and said, "I called you over for something important."
"What is it?" Joel asked.
"Kaia just went to the Bennett family. Go and protect her." Tobias observed Joel's reaction as he spoke.
A trace of uneasiness flashed past though Joel had done his best to hide his emotion. At the same time, it was captured by Tobias.
"Go now," Tobias ordered.
"Okay." Joel quickly left.
Tobias turned to Devin. "Are you hiding something from me?" Instantly, Devin's heart skipped a beat.
"Boss, what are you talking about?" Devin tried his best to stay calm. With Kaia on his side, he felt secure though it was a bad idea to lie to his boss.
'Before Kaia, Boss is sheepish anyway,' he thought.
Tobias stared at Devin for quite a while and then looked away. "Let's go to the company."
Hearing this, Devin secretly drew a long sigh of relief. 'What a narrow escape!' he thought.
In the Bennett's house, Melvin was lying on his deathbed, withered and weak.
Worried, Emma kept yelling at Lincoln, "Where is Dr. Miracle? Why hasn't she come yet?"
"Mom, calm down. I will contact her right away," Lincoln said.
"How can I calm down! That's your dad, and he is dying. Calm down? Are you anxious to inherit his wealth, so you pray for his quick death?" Emma shivered with rage.
Lincoln was frightened. "Mom, what are you talking about? Am I such an evil son in your eyes?"
Johnny added fuel to the fire by saying, "Lincoln, don't be mad at Mom. I also think that, you, as the heir, can't wait to inherit Dad's wealth and drive me and our little brother away."
"Nonsense!" Lincoln roared in anger.
Timmy Bennett, Emma's youngest son, said, "Lincoln, why are you so angry? Did Johnny hit the nail on the head?"
"Johnny and Timmy, do you two collude against me?" Lincoln shouted.
"No! We are just telling the truth," Johnny responded.
"That's it," Timmy said.
"Enough!" Emma hit the floor hard with her cane. "What are you doing here? Don't you know that your dad is on the verge of death?"
She looked at Lincoln and asked, "Did you contact Dr. Miracle? When will she arrive?"
Right then, Lincoln received a message. "Mom, Dr. Miracle is at the door. Let's go welcome her."
