Tobias looked surprised when he saw the person's face.
"It's you."
Joel clasped his fist at Tobias. "Sorry for keeping it from you for so long."
"How could you—" Joel interrupted Tobias before he could finish.
"I said before that Kaia saved my life, and I came here to protect her with Dr. Bennett's permission."
Joel's words were a preemptive strike to nip Tobias's suspicions in the bud.
Kaia quietly gave Joel a look, hinting that he had done a good job.
Joel nodded back with a smile in his eyes. Of course, he had been thinking about it in the bathroom for a long time.
The eye contact between the two was very subtle, a tacit understanding formed over many years.
Tobias looked at Kaia apologetically, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."
"It's not your fault. I should have told you about Joel earlier, but I was hesitant because of Joel's identity, afraid that exposing it would cause trouble." Kaia was still a little guilty when she said this.
"Well... how should I put it? In any case, I didn't tell you sooner. To show my apology, how about I take you to KTV tomorrow? I'll book a private room in advance."
Hearing this, Tobias's eyes lit up. Book a private room, just the two of them?
Okay.
"Grandpa said he will host a family banquet at noon tomorrow to see you off. We'll go together tomorrow night."
Yep," Kaia said, giving a quick nod.
The next day at noon.
Almost everyone in the Moreno family was there.
Keaton glanced around the room, his old eyebrows furrowing.
"Hasn't the fourth one returned yet?"
Ryan put down his fork and replied, "I contacted the fourth one this morning, and he said he would be back in a couple of days after filming."
Hearing this, Kaia felt a little surprised, leaned towards Tobias, and whispered, "Is your fourth uncle a celebrity?"
Since getting engaged to Tobias, she had not yet met Keaton's fourth son.
"My fourth uncle debuted a long time ago. Before our engagement, he happened to go abroad to film, so you haven't met him yet."
"Oh, I see."
"It's better that you don't see him." Tobias suddenly said.
"What do you mean?" Kaia looked at Tobias in confusion.
Tobias raised his long, misty eyebrows and slowly said, "He's very handsome."
Kaia was speechless.
'He's even jealous of his uncle. What a talent.' She never thought that would be the reason.
"I don't even know who your uncle is or what he looks like, and you're already jealous?"
Just as she finished speaking, she received a message from a contact named "Gavyn Whitfield".
"Hey, Kaia, I'll be back in Morganburg the day after tomorrow. Want to hang out then?"
Kaia composed a text message.
"Is your filming overseas over?"
"Just finished."
"Aren't you going to see your family first when you get back?"
"My family isn't as close as you are. It's settled, Fan, we're going to the bar the day after tomorrow."
Kaia thought for a moment and replied, "The day after tomorrow is Saturday. Okay."
"Who are you chatting with?" Tobias's tone was slightly dissatisfied.
"A friend," Kaia said as she put down her phone.
Then, after seeing the man's expression, she immediately understood what he was going to ask next, so she took the initiative.
"It's a male friend, a friend I've known for many years, not the kind you think."
Tobias smiled happily as he looked at Kaia's serious explanation.
"I just like it when you explain things to me so seriously."
Kaia was speechless.
"It's you."
