"Well, is there anything else? If not, I'll hang up." After saying this, Kaia added, "If there's anything, let's talk about it tomorrow. Bye."
Tobias could guess who was calling from Kaia's tone.
He asked, "Was it a call from the Bennett family?"
"Yes, meeting at noon tomorrow," Kaia replied.
Tobias frowned upon hearing Kaia's answer.
"If you meet them, aren't you afraid they'll cause trouble?"
Kaia said nonchalantly, "I'd be surprised if they didn't cause trouble."
He asked, "If that's the case, why did you agree to meet them?"
"Although my relationship with the Bennett family is severed, it's not completely cut off. I also want to take this opportunity to separate from the Bennett family. From now on, we'll go our separate ways."
Tobias gazed at her stunning profile, her delicate face stubbornly making people feel sorry for her.
Tobias stopped the car and unbuckled his seat belt.
Kaia said, "We're not there yet. Why are you stopping? What are you..."
Before Kaia could finish speaking, her lips were covered by Tobias's thin lips.
In an instant, Kaia's eyes suddenly widened.
Just as she was about to push Tobias away, he reached out and pulled her into his arms.
"My Kaia, my poor Kaia, don't be sad or upset, and don't carry it all alone. I'll protect you from now on, and no one will be able to bully you," Tobias said.
Tobias's voice was low, magnetic, and husky, yet each word was exceptionally firm, as if he were making a vow, giving people a sense of security.
Kaia's heart softened, and she rested her chin on Tobias's shoulder, a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth, in a good mood.
Twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of Villa No. 8 at Pioneer Retreat.
Tobias looked at the layout of the courtyard, his eyes lighting up.
"This layout is excellent! Did you hire a master from the Webb family?"
Kaia nodded in agreement, "I asked Mr. Webb to arrange it."
This surprised Tobias, "He is over ninety years old and hasn't taken on these jobs for a long time. How did you manage to get him to do it?"
"Asked a friend for help." Kaia replied.
"Friend?" Tobias narrowed his eyes slightly, thinking of someone. "Are you talking about Owen, the friend you're so close to?"
Kaia detected a hint of jealousy in his words. "That's right. It's Owen, the one I'm very, very close with."
Tobias knew that Kaia didn't like him being jealous for no reason, so he reined himself in a bit.
He asked, "How did he manage to get his grandpa, Archie, to come?"
Kaia smiled as she looked at Tobias, deliberately reaching out to adjust the man's tie.
"With your intelligence, can't you guess Owen's true identity?"
Tobias's eyes never left Kaia's hands as she adjusted his clothes. He felt like her hands were like cat's paws, scratching at his heart.
Just as he was enjoying it, Kaia withdrew her hands, and a look of disappointment flashed in Tobias's eyes.
"Although the Webb family is a top-tier wealthy family, they rarely interact with people in the circle. How did you get to know Owen?" he asked.
"How did I get to know him? It's been so long, I can't remember clearly." Kaia wasn't lying about this. She really knew too many people, and even with a good memory, she would still forget some.
Kaia couldn't remember, and Tobias didn't press further. "Wait, there's something Grandpa gave us that I left in the car."
Tobias turned back to retrieve the CD from the car.
