"No! It wasn't me!" Claire was so frightened that her face turned pale.
"You still say it wasn't you. Everyone saw that you handed the drink to Kaia! You still want to quibble!" Adele roared fiercely.
Claire's tears fell down her face, and she was so aggrieved that she wanted to commit suicide.
"Adele, are you reasonable? It was clearly you who asked me to hand the drink to Kaia, clearly..."
"That's right! I asked you to hand it over, but when I gave it to you, there was nothing in the drink. You added something to it after you took it!"
Claire retorted, "How can you put the blame on me? I was wrong. I was really wrong. I shouldn't have run errands for you and done such a thing for my mother's medical expenses.
"If my mother finds out about this in the future, she will definitely be disappointed and would rather not have treatment than have me do such a thing."
Claire cried bitterly, bit her lip, and said, "Adele asked me to do this because she likes Gavyn, and she is jealous of Kaia, so she wants to ruin her."
"Damn it! You're still framing me!" Adele raised her hand and slapped Claire in the face.
Kaia quickly reached out and grabbed Adele's wrist.
"What are you doing?" Adele shouted at Kaia impatiently.
Kaia looked at Adele expressionlessly and said calmly, "Stopping you from hitting her."
"She is my assistant, and she made a mistake. Can't I teach her a lesson?" Adele shouted.
Kaia's expression turned cold. "According to the laws, you really can't teach her a lesson. Unless you travel back to the era of slave owners, your servants' lives are up to you. But now it is a new era, working for you does not mean being a slave for you.
"On the contrary, they are doing things for you, and you should respect them more. Do you think that if you have money and you are in a superior position, you can trample on other people's dignity at will? You can't hit and scold others whenever you want."
These words resonated with all the workers present.
Everyone talked about equality and respect, but the rich and powerful never truly treated workers like human beings. They barked orders, cursed whenever they pleased, and even dragged people's parents and ancestors into their insults.
But for the sake of a few bucks and feeding the family, they could only swallow their anger.
Thinking of this, when everyone looked at Kaia again, they no longer thought of her past reputation as a good-for-nothing, but felt that she had a halo over her head.
Then they pointed at Adele, accusing her of acting like a diva and not treating her assistant like a human being.
In Adele's opinion, all of this was Kaia's fault. If it weren't for her, Adele wouldn't have become the target of public criticism.
Claire gave Kaia a grateful look, and at the same time, felt extremely remorseful.
'She's such a good person, and I became an accomplice, almost hurting her,' she thought.
Claire said, "Kaia, I'm sorry, but please believe me, it really wasn't me."
Kaia nodded with a serious expression. "I believe you."
Claire's expression suddenly froze, and her pupils widened infinitely.
'Does she believe me?' she thought.
Just one sentence set off a storm in Claire's heart.
Adele was displeased. "Kaia, what do you mean? Are you implying that I did this? That I drugged you?"
"Isn't it?" Kaia was almost certain that Adele was the mastermind behind this.
