Kinsley echoed, "That's right. We absolutely can't let this go. Speaking of which, I'm really curious: what is the relationship between Kaia and Joel? Enough for Joel to personally come to her rescue?"
"In any case, they're not a couple," Finley said with certainty.
"How can you be so sure?"
Finley replied, "I have some business dealings with the Bennett family. I overheard them inadvertently saying that Kaia was being kept by a rich old man."
"I've heard about that too, I didn't expect it to be true. Damn it!" Kinsley roared, "A lowly mistress dares to be so arrogant in our house. Honey, I think we should hire some desperate criminals to get rid of her without anyone knowing.
"That way, Joel won't suspect us. Besides, even if he suspects us, without evidence, I believe Joel wouldn't hold us accountable for a dead person."
"That's a great idea! We'll do as you say!"
After Kaia sent Claire to the hospital, she returned home.
She took out her phone and realized that Tobias hadn't sent a single message or made a single call.
It was funny. Tobias used to contact her whenever he was free, so often that she sometimes couldn't be bothered to look.
Now that he didn't contact him, she was actually a little unaccustomed to it.
The day of the blind date arrived, and Kaia put on some clothes and hurried to Vanilla Deli Cafe
Kaia's aunt, Daisy Bennett, was talking to a mother and son.
The middle-aged woman's name was Gloria Reyes, with high cheekbones, thin lips, and heavy smoky makeup.
"The girl you mentioned is called Kaia, right?" Gloria asked.
"That's right, my niece is very beautiful! She's the recognized belle of our village," Daisy said.
The young man curled his lip in disdain. "The value of a village beauty is a bit low! Besides, I don't think any beauties can come from the countryside. They're out in the wind and sun doing farm work every day, so they're basically all dark-skinned with calloused hands and thick waists."
"Sullivan, didn't I show you her picture? Didn't you say she was pretty then?"
Sullivan Reyes said, "The picture looks good, but it could be photoshopped. Photoshop skills are amazing now; you can photoshop a face or even swap heads."
He continued, nose in the air, "Anyway, if she's not good-looking, I'll turn around and leave. My family is so rich, and I'm so handsome, what kind of woman can't I marry?
"The only reason I agreed to come on this blind date today is for my mom's sake. If my mom and you weren't college classmates, I wouldn't have come."
Daisy looked embarrassed, but suddenly she caught a glimpse of Kaia pushing the door open to enter.
"She's here! She's here!" Daisy said.
Sullivan looked towards the door with a nonchalant expression, but the next second, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he stood up subconsciously, staring with wide eyes.
Seeing Sullivan's reaction, Daisy felt a sense of vindication.
He used to dislike her niece for not being pretty; now, he's eating his words.
"Hello." Kaia politely greeted Gloria and Sullivan.
"Hi," Sullivan hurriedly pulled out a chair for Kaia, "Sit, please sit! What would you like to drink? Anything to eat? The sun is so strong outside today. Are you hot? Would you like to switch places with me? The air conditioner is right above my head."
Gloria cleared her throat and glared at Sullivan with annoyance.
She thought, 'That son of mine won't lift a finger to help me on a normal day, but now he's bending over backwards to please another woman. And they're not even married yet! If it's like this already, what's next? She gonna walk all over me like I'm her personal doormat?'
