Kaia chuckled softly.
"What? You're not satisfied? Do you want us to have a whole bunch of kids—ten or eight, maybe?" Tobias teased, his gaze lingering on Kaia's stomach, the worry playfully mixed with mischief. "Honestly, I'm up for it, but I'm afraid you'd be too exhausted."
"Keep dreaming," Kaia shot back. "Alright, that's enough. I'm going to sleep—out you go."
After shoving Tobias out, Kaia gently patted her forehead.
'How did I let him drag me into that whole baby talk—boys, girls, how many?' she thought, shaking her head.
On Saturday, Kaia showed up at Splendor Hotel right on time, and as soon as she pushed open the private room door, she was greeted by an impossibly handsome face. Her eyes lit up instantly.
Even compared to Tobias Moreno, this man wasn't inferior in looks—but his aura was entirely different.
Staring at him, Kaia felt something weird in her gut. 'Wait a second… those eyes, that mouth—they're seriously familiar. Where have I seen them before?' she thought, frowning slightly.
As Kaia studied him, the man was doing the same. His gaze was full of open admiration. He'd heard from Splendor's head chef that she was pretty, but he hadn't expected her to be this gorgeous.
"Hey, I'm Abdullah Swanson," he said, flashing her a friendly smile.
"Kaia Bennett," she answered.
"Kaia Bennett?" Abdullah repeated slowly, like he was trying it out for himself.
"What? Something wrong with it?" Kaia asked casually.
"No, not at all. It's a really nice name, it just sounds really familiar, like I've heard it somewhere before," Abdullah replied, trying to recall where he'd encountered it.
Kaia shrugged lightly. "Maybe because it's a common name."
What she didn't add was that, thanks to the recent online buzz due to the controversy of the Bennett family and Gavyn Whitfield, her name had been all over the internet. It wouldn't be surprising if he'd seen it.
"How could it be common? I think it's special. I must be mistaken, then." Abdullah waved it off with a grin. "Anyway, I heard you're a wine lover, so I brought this back from abroad—an '82 Lafite. See if it suits your taste."
Abdullah leaned in to pour Kaia a glass with exaggerated care.
Kaia had tried this exact vintage before—smooth as silk, absolutely five-star. She definitely wasn't buying his unexpected sweetness for a second, turned to Abdullah sharply and questioned. "Cut to the chase—what do you want?"
"Straightforward! I like that. To be honest, I'm not one for beating around the bush either, but I was worried going straight to the point might come across as rude." Abdullah joked, a sly grin on his face.
Seeing Kaia's patience starting to wear thin, Abdullah, the expert at reading the room, jumped right in. "Truth is, I've always wanted to study the culinary arts. I heard from the head chef that your skills surpass his. I want to become your disciple."
Kaia took a sip of her wine and set the glass down. "I'm sure he also told you—I don't have time to take on apprentices. He asked once, and I refused him as well."
Abdullah had expected as much—and had come prepared. He stood up, looking at Kaia with genuine sincerity that was hard to ignore.
