"Miss Bennett, I'm serious about wanting to learn how to cook. I've loved it ever since I was a kid, but I've never met a true master. My parents gave me an ultimatum—if I don't achieve something this year, they'll drag me home to take over the family business. But I'm not fit to run a company. I'm not that kind of person," Abdullah confessed, sounding a bit desperate.
Of course, he didn't mention his other motive—that a capable wife could handle the family empire while he focused on what he loved.
Kaia could see honesty in his expression and sense his genuine passion for the craft. And that strangely familiar face softened her resolve a little.
Sensing her hesitation, Abdullah pressed on. "I swear, I'll be your most dedicated student ever. If you refuse, I'll just show up at your door every day—rain or shine—until you give in."
Kaia rolled her eyes at his antics, and snorted. "That thick skin of yours reminds me of someone."
"Oh? Who? Should I be worried?" Abdullah asked, suddenly suspicious.
"You don't know him," Kaia replied and paused, as if deep in thought, then she continued. "Seeing how committed you are, I'll agree to take you as my disciple. But—"
Before she could finish, Abdullah was already holding up his wine. "Master, please accept your disciple's bow!" he exclaimed.
Kaia could only stare, completely at a loss for words.
'The way he adapted to the situation—just like Tobias,' she thought, shaking her head.
With a sigh, she clinked his glass and downed the wine. The ceremony was complete.
"So, master, how old are you?" Abdullah asked, curiosity written all over his face.
"Twenty." Kaia replied calmly.
"Seriously? That young?" Abdullah blurted out, totally floored.
Kaia arched her perfectly shaped brows. "What, do I look old?"
"No, no!" Abdullah explained quickly. "Your skin is like porcelain, your beauty heavenly! I'm just shocked you've achieved such mastery at such a young age."
"Since you're my disciple now, I suppose it's only right for your master to personally whip up a meal for you," Kaia suggested.
Abdullah's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That would be an honor!"
Soon enough, Kaia stepped into the main kitchen at Splendor Hotel—and instantly, the place filled up. The head chef was there, and a whole crowd of chefs showed up to witness the fuss.
"Those knife skills—unbelievable! I barely saw her move, and that cucumber's already sliced into ribbons!" one chef blurted, eyes popping.
"Forget the cucumber—look at that potato! Threads thinner than a needle, and all perfectly even!" another called out, totally awestruck.
"It smells amazing! The fish must be done—the aroma alone's making me drool!" a third added, barely holding himself back.
The chefs murmured in awe. Even Abdullah, who'd eaten his way through the world's finest restaurants, couldn't help swallowing hard.
He'd been told Kaia's culinary skills were exceptional, but seeing them firsthand left him speechless.
An hour later, seven or eight dishes were ready. "All set—dig in and see what you think," Kaia said.
"Gladly!" Abdullah snatched up his chopsticks, his eyes sparkling—he'd barely been able to sit still waiting to dive in.
He picked up a piece of fish—the tender flesh soaked in rich, fragrant broth—and nearly bit his tongue in bliss.
"Well? It's good, right?" Kaia asked.
Abdullah gave her a huge thumbs-up. "Are you kidding me? It's not just good—divine! Food like this belongs in heaven! It's basically miracle!"
At that moment, Abdullah swore to himself—he would pursue Kaia until she became his wife.
As soon as he got home, Abdullah couldn't wait to call Tobias and brag.
"Tobias, you have no idea—her cooking is out of this world! There's no one on this planet who can even come close to her!" Abdullah gushed, practically bouncing with excitement.
Tobias hand tightened on his phone. 'Of course no one could. She's mine.'
But obviously, he kept that thought locked up. No way he was letting Abdullah even dream about making a move on Kaia.
