Before Kaia said no, Horace added, "You're now their leader, the president of Morganburg University, so they should know what you look like, shouldn't they?"
Kaia thought that Horace did get a point. "Alright, I am at your disposal."
Her compromise thrilled Horace so much that he felt much better in the blink of an eye. He turned to his assistant and urged with excitement, "Go! Inform the management of the university of the meeting tomorrow."
His assistant reminded, "Tomorrow's Saturday."
"Oh, no! Why is it Saturday?" Horace moaned, really stressing out. He was afraid that Kaia would change her mind the next second.
"Relax, Mr. Tillery. We can hold the meeting on Monday," his assistant suggested.
"How can I relax? There are two days to go. It was difficult to trick her into the job. What if she regrets her decision in the coming two days? Can you find me a better candidate than her?" Horace shot back.
The assistant moved his lips and winked at Horace.
Horace quickly caught on and swiftly turned to Kaia. "Kaia, don't get me wrong. I don't mean that. It isn't a trap. I do want you to take the job, for the sake of our students. I..."
"Relax, Mr. Tillery." Kaia flashed Horace a resigned smile. "I understand. I will keep my word since I have given you my promise. I will attend the meeting on Monday."
Horace let out a long sigh and finally relaxed.
Back at home, Kaia caught a whiff of yummy food. She headed into the kitchen and blinked at Tobias, who was cooking, with astonishment.
"Hey, you're back! Go wash your hands. The dinner will be ready in no time." Tobias's tone was gentle, and it put Kaia in a good mood.
Kaia walked over to Tobias, saw several dishes on the kitchen table, and found them attractive. "Did you learn how to cook?"
"I learned when I watched you cook," Tobias replied with a grin.
"Oh, you stole my recipes. Too bad. I caught you, so what are you going to do?" Kaia teased.
Tobias took off his apron and started unbuttoning his shirt.
"What, what are you doing?" Kaia took a step backward.
"Don't you want compensation? Since you're not short of money, I'll have to give myself to you." Tobias said something brazen with a straight face.
Kaia rolled her eyes at Tobias and then changed the subject. "Let's eat now. I wonder how the food tastes."
Tobias paused with two buttons on his shirt undone. He would take off his shirt if Kaia were cooperative.
Soon, all the dishes were placed on the table in the dining room.
"Vince, dinner time!" Kaia shouted to some room upstairs.
"Coming, Kaia." Soon, Vince ran downstairs as fast as his little legs could move.
Tobias stared at Vince. He felt familiar with Vince, but he couldn't remember where he had seen the latter.
Kaia sat down. Then, she found that all the dishes on the table were her favorites, and this truth warmed her heart.
She put the beef stew into her mouth, and her eyes instantly lit up. "Wow! It tastes great. I didn't know that you were gifted in cooking."
"Your fiancé is awesome, isn't he?" Tobias grinned from ear to ear.
