"Not gifted. Tobias spent a whole day practicing in the kitchen, and his hands got burned." Vince looked in the direction where Tobias hid his hands.
Kaia instantly put down her fork, hurried to Tobias, grabbed his hands, and saw several large blisters on their backs.
Her brows furrowed. "You should be careful." It was a reproach, but she sounded worried.
Tobias showed Kaia a happy smile because he was glad that he got her attention with several blisters. "I am fine. A minor problem. The blisters will disappear in a few days," he comforted.
Kaia turned on her heel, hurried upstairs, and soon reappeared with a first-aid kit. "I will pop the blisters and then put some ointment on your wounds. It might sting, so brace yourself."
"Come on! I am fine. Go grab some food first. You must be tired after a long day," Tobias urged.
"Don't move!" Kaia snapped. Tobias instantly froze with his hands in the air.
Right then, Russell arrived. Awkward, he said, "I came for dinner, but I got a public display of affection instead."
He got closer to the lovers, and his attention was soon attracted by Tobias's wounded hands. "Tobias, what happened to your hands?"
Vince responded, "He got burned when he cooked."
Russell's jaw hit the floor. "Tobias, you? Did you cook?" Russell glanced out of the window and added, "Did the sun rise in the west this morning?"
He shifted his gaze to Kaia, who was tending to Tobias's wounds, and then curled his lips. 'I now know why Tobias cooked,' he thought with disdain.
"Let me try the food." Russell randomly sent a piece of meat into his mouth. "Well, not bad. I didn't know that you are a good cook, Tobias."
Tobias gazed at Kaia with a smile in his eyes. "Because I have a good fiancée."
Instantly, Russell felt that the food in his mouth became tasteless. He clicked his tongue and said, "Sour, so sour. Tobias, did you pour the whole bottle of vinegar into your dishes?"
Vince was enjoying his dinner, totally puzzled. "Not sour at all. I think they are great."
"Kid, you don't understand." Russell stared at Vince's adorable face and then asked, "Hey, Tobias, doesn't this kid look familiar to you? Like we've seen him somewhere before."
Both Tobias and Kaia shifted their gaze to Vince. Honestly, they shared the same feelings as Russell did.
After a long stare at Vince, Kaia tidied up her first-aid kit, turned to Tobias, and said, "Tomorrow's Saturday. You should have a good rest at home. Don't come here, okay?"
'If he comes and finds me teaching Abdullah cooking, his jealousy will bring me trouble,' she thought.
"You finally get one day off, but you don't want me here. Who will come?" Tobias's question instantly made Kaia tense. 'He knows me well,' Kaia thought.
"Don't overreact. Weren't you swamped last week? Just now, you burned your hands. I think you need a good rest," Kaia argued.
Tobias's sharp gaze urged Kaia to add, "Honestly, I'm tired. I want to sleep in tomorrow. I need a good rest. Tomorrow night, I'll cook for you at your place."
Tobias's expression was softened a bit. "Alright, I'll wait for you at home."
On the way back, Russell found Tobias gloomy, so he asked, "Why are you sulky? Kaia is so considerate that she lets you have a rest at home. Didn't she promise to make you dinner tomorrow night?"
"She sweet-talked me for the first time," Tobias said coldly as his eyes were narrowed slightly.
