"What's the result?" the Swanson family shouted in unison.
Kaia took the report, glanced through it, and a smile tugged at her lips. "Congratulations. You've finally found your family."
"This is amazing! I've finally found my son." Jedidiah, a man over six feet tall, was sobbing uncontrollably.
Rachel and Abdullah weren't faring much better.
Half an hour later, Vince woke up, and Kaia told him what had happened.
Vince's lips quivered. "Kaia, you're not kidding, are you? Are they… are they truly my family?" he asked, still in disbelief.
Kaia nodded, her smile reassuring. "The DNA test says it all. You really do belong to this family."
"Vince, I'm so sorry! We were careless and made you suffer all those years alone outside!" Jedidiah choked out, pulling Vince into his arms, voice thick with emotion.
Rachel and Abdullah came over, too, and with everyone hugging tightly, the whole family was finally reunited.
As Kaia watched the scene unfold, her nose tingled as she fought back tears.
Kaia softly encouraged, "Vince, aren't you going to call them 'Dad' and 'Mom'?"
Vince's eyes were bright red with emotion. After struggling for a long moment, he finally managed to speak.
"Dad... Mom..." he whispered, voice trembling.
"Good, good boy." Jedidiah choked out, his voice thick with emotion.
With all the emotions bursting out, Vince couldn't hold it back anymore. He cried his eyes out, just like any regular kid.
It took a while before the family managed to calm down.
Jedidiah wiped away his tears, walked over to Kaia, and spoke in a choked voice. "Miss Bennett, if it weren't for you, our family probably would've stayed broken forever. I can't thank you enough. From now on, if you ever need anything, just let us know. The Swanson family will always have your back!"
"Mr. Swanson, you are welcome," Kaia replied softly. "I helped Vince not because I wanted anything in return. I just felt sorry for him, and he's such a thoughtful kid. I truly care about him."
From Kaia's earnest eyes and heartfelt words, Jedidiah could feel just how much she genuinely cared for Vince. His admiration for her deepened, and he finally understood why Tobias, normally cold and aloof with women, had fallen so deeply for her.
"What a shame. If only Abdullah could've landed a girl like you," Jedidiah joked, shaking his head.
But before he'd even finished, Tobias swooped in and grabbed Kaia—gone in an instant, like a gust of wind.
Jedidiah couldn't help but laugh and sigh at the scene, while Abdullah just kept groaning, "I guess I just started chasing her too late. With skin as thick as a castle wall, you'd think I could've snagged her, right?"
"Alright, what's the point of complaining now? Just put in the effort and find someone new. I'm still counting on you to give me some grandkids," Jedidiah said, trying to lighten the mood.
Abdullah let out another dramatic sigh. "Honestly, after meeting Kaia, I've been totally ruined. My standards are through the roof now. I seriously doubt I'll ever meet anyone who makes my heart race like that again."
"You little brat! What's that supposed to mean? Are you trying to leave the Swanson family with no one to carry on the line?" Jedidiah snapped, his beard practically bristling with anger.
Abdullah shot a look at Vince. "Hey, Dad, you just got your younger son back, right? Why not let him take on the family legacy?"
At that, Jedidiah's eyes lit up as he stared at Vince like he'd just struck gold, and Rachel looked just as thrilled.
Vince got the chills from all the crazy staring. Sure, he was just a kid and had no clue what the grown-ups were talking about, but his gut was screaming that this was bad news. 'Uh-oh, why do I feel like I'm about to get dragged into something big?' Vince worried to himself.
Before they knew it, Monday had rolled around.
Kaia glanced at the clock. It was only eight, and the meeting to officially hand over to the new president wouldn't start until nine. So she decided to read in her classroom for a while before heading out.
