"Do you have to do this?" Kaia muttered, rolling her eyes, but she didn't bother pulling her hand away. Experience told her it was pointless. Whenever Tobias held her hand, he held it like he never intended to let go.
"I don't see anything wrong with it. We're together. It's not like we're sneaking around," Tobias replied, acting all righteous.
"Hold on, I need to grab something." He popped open the trunk.
Kaia stared at the sight inside and couldn't help twitching a smile. The entire trunk was packed to the brim.
"Why did you bring so many gifts?" she asked.
"There are presents for your parents, your brother, your aunts and uncles, their kids, your grandparents on both sides, and I even got something for the neighbors—the ones you said you grew up around and the village chief..." Tobias listed, barely taking a breath.
"The what?" Kaia sighed, cutting him off as his list grew longer.
"And I didn't forget the kids," he added proudly, pulling out some small toys from a bag.
Kaia didn't know if she should be happy or frustrated. "You did your homework better than the census office."
She wasn't even exaggerating. Every single gift matched the recipient's tastes perfectly—it was clear Tobias had done a deep dive before coming here.
He smiled at her, eyes full of warmth. "You're the most important person in my life. Doing this for you makes me happy."
Kaia raised an eyebrow. "It looks to me like you're trying to buy off my relatives and friends," she said, calling him out directly.
Tobias didn't even flinch. Flashing a shameless grin, he said, "That's not bribery. It's strategy."
Then, he looked at her with an intense gaze and said earnestly, "This isn't just talk. I mean every word from the bottom of my heart. If doing all this means I can truly have you, and everyone you care about gives us their blessing, I'd do it a thousand times over."
His voice was deep and steady, filled with a kind of quiet devotion that hit her straight in the heart.
For a second, Kaia swore her pulse stopped. "Let's just go inside," she said, breaking eye contact before he completely melted her resolve.
Tobias noticed the change in Kaia's expression and the moisture in her eyes. He was delighted and had the urge to scoop her up and spin her around, but he knew she would hate being the center of attention like that, so he could only hold it in.

Meanwhile, back in Morganburg, the Bennett family had just received the news from the countryside.
"What did you say? Kaia's dating the richest man in Morganburg?" Ruth nearly dropped her phone.
"That's what I heard," her friend said. "My relative lives in Kaia's hometown, and apparently she came back with her boyfriend today, and he's the richest man in Morganburg!"
Lincoln and Andrea were both listening in, hanging on every word.
"That's impossible," Lincoln said flatly. "What's his last name?"
"I think it's... Moreno," the friend replied, sounding a bit unsure.
"Moreno?" Lincoln blurted out, his eyes going wide. Pretty much everyone in Morganburg knew the Moreno family was the richest in the city.
Andrea cut in, "Maybe it's just a coincidence. Or maybe Kaia just wanted to impress everyone back home, so she told them she was dating the richest man."
