"But why, though? Yeah, Kaia is amazing, sure, but Grandpa doesn't even know she's Dr. Miracle yet. As far as he's concerned, she's just some student at his university, so what's with that total change?" Russell was genuinely confused.
"Yeah," Tobias said, sounding totally unfazed.
"Bro, is 'yeah' all you know how to say?" Russell grumbled, corner of his mouth twitching.
"I'm just 'yeah-ing' because that's exactly what I'm thinking too," Tobias shot back.
Russell sighed, not knowing how to respond anymore.
Meanwhile, Howard looked at Yvonne; her eyes were red, on the verge of tears. Normally, he'd feel nothing but pity for his precious granddaughter, but now, there was only sternness in his gaze.
"Yvonne, do you realize you are wrong?" Howard asked, his voice strict.
Yvonne gritted her teeth, totally refusing to admit she was wrong.
"So, you're still not backing down, huh? Fine, let me ask you, you're always calling Kaia a homewrecker, but be honest with yourself: before Kaia came into the picture, were Tobias and Bianca even a thing?" Howard pressed.
Yvonne didn't say a word.
"Answer me!" Howard demanded.
"No..." Yvonne was nearly in tears.
"Alright, then, before Kaia showed up, we knew Bianca liked Tobias, but did Tobias ever like her back?" Howard asked again.
"Uh—" Yvonne hesitated, her voice trailing off.
"Answer me, yes or no?" Howard said sharply.
Yvonne pressed her lips together. "Not really."
"And, one last thing, say you fall for someone, this person has a childhood friend, but they don't even like that friend back. Would that make you the third party?" Howard asked.
Yvonne was totally stumped. She just clammed up, not daring to argue.
"Seriously, you make me shake my head," Howard said, sneaking a quick look at Bianca before saying hopelessly, "Let me guess, Bianca came crying to you again, feeding you her sob story?"
"Grandpa, how did you know?" Yvonne blurted out, shocked.
"Come on, use your brain! She's got you out here fighting her battles for her!" Howard snapped.
"No way, Bianca is not the type to do something like that," Yvonne protested.
"Still not getting it? How did I end up with such a blockhead for a granddaughter?" Howard muttered in frustration.
"I—" Yvonne tried to say more, but she could hear the guests nearby starting to whisper among themselves.
"Geez, did you see that? The old man Fisher really slapped his granddaughter! I nearly jumped out of my seat," someone whispered.
"Who else is there to blame? His granddaughter's got rocks for brains, letting herself get played. Kaia and Mr. Moreno clearly like each other, but she keeps meddling. Everyone knows Bianca's been chasing him, and he couldn't care less," another guest said.

The more Yvonne overheard, the redder her face grew. All at once, she whipped around and shot Bianca a piercing glare.
Bianca froze, visibly rattled by Yvonne's look. "Wait, Yvonne, I... I didn't, it's not what you think..."
"Don't even talk to me! Just hearing you makes my skin crawl, and seeing you is even worse!" Yvonne snapped.
Tears streamed down Bianca's face as she turned to Cecelia. "Cecelia, I swear I never meant to use her as my pawn! I didn't, do you believe me?"
"Of course I believe you! Yvonne is such a clueless idiot, always swallowing whatever anyone tells her whole. We've been besties since forever, I know exactly what kind of person you are.
"So, don't let it bother you. She doesn't deserve our friendship anyway. Real friends have each other's backs, and trust me, I'd never stab you in the back," Cecelia said, rubbing Bianca's shoulder for comfort.
"Thanks, Cecelia. You're truly my best friend in the whole world, no one compares," Bianca choked out, her voice shaking with emotion.
Yvonne had always been zero tolerance when it came to wrongdoing, and now, her feelings for Bianca had turned to outright loathing.
Howard felt a surge of pride at Yvonne's reaction. "Yvonne, I'm really proud of how you handled that. But you still owe Kaia an apology."
"You're really making me apologize?" Yvonne grumbled, her lips pressed into a tight, stubborn line.
"Weren't you hoping to get into Morganburg University through connections? No apology, no chance. Period," Howard said with firm tone.
