Beatrice walked over just in time to hear them. "What nonsense are you all spouting? Larry and Kaia just knew each other a long time ago, that's all."
"So they've known each other forever? Oh, right, it just came back to me! When Beatrice and Kaia had that piano duel and Beatrice lost hard, Larry actually left together with Kaia right after," the girl beside her said.
Another giddy student chimed in, "So basically, Kaia and Larry are childhood sweethearts, and Zion is that fated rival who just fell out of the sky."
"That's a pretty fun way to look at it! Wonder who Kaia will end up with in the end, Larry or Zion?" someone replied.
A girl suddenly suggested, "Why don't we open a betting pool? Let's bet on whether Kaia will end up with Larry or Zion."
"This is getting spicy, but hear me out, I think we need to throw in one more option," her friend said.
Then, one of them asked, "Oh? What's your idea?"
"Easy, what if all three of them ended up together?" she proposed.
"Now that's what I'm talking about!" came the enthusiastic reply

The whole place was buzzing, everybody totally hooked on the drama and loving every second.
Beatrice fumed, her eyes burning holes in the space where Kaia had just vanished.
'Maybe I'm not as good on the piano as you,' she seethed inside, 'but that doesn't mean I can't ruin you. Just wait, Kaia, once I get my chance, I'll make you pay. I'll drag you down so far there'll be no coming back.'
'Larry belongs to me. No one else. He always will,' Beatrice declared fiercely in her heart.
Within a day, whispers and rumors about Kaia, Larry, and Zion had spread across the entire campus.
Tobias got the news the moment it broke, and now, at the dinner table, he was shooting Kaia the most aggrieved, sulky looks.
Kaia tried to look away, but his stare was so piercing it made her skin crawl. She couldn't help feeling uneasy.
With a sigh, she put down her fork and looked up, only to meet his eyes, so full of resentment, it was like he was some wronged wife locked away in a boudoir. Her temple throbbed.
"Did you save up all your jealousy for this? I thought my cooking was fine, but did I dump a whole bottle of vinegar in there? My teeth might fall out from the sourness," Kaia said.
"Is this my fault? I didn't want to get jealous, but did you see the campus forum? They say you're juggling two guys, eyeing every pot, and now they're even betting on who you'll pick," Tobias muttered, sliding his phone to Kaia.
Kaia couldn't be bothered and just pushed the phone aside without even glancing at it.
"Why should I waste energy caring what these people say? I can't control their gossip. Larry and Zion are my friends. If I can't even grab a meal with them without stressing over drama, wouldn't that be exhausting? What happened to freedom?" Kaia shot back.
"Doesn't matter what you say, I'm still not happy. If I don't get a kiss, I'm not eating tonight." Tobias threw in his best childish sulk.
Kaia just rolled her eyes at Tobias acting like a big baby. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"So much for your cool CEO vibe, aren't you scared people will roast you if word gets out?" Kaia teased.
Tobias just raised an eyebrow at her. "Well, I'm stealing your line, what's wrong with a guy bickering with his girlfriend? Why should I care about what anyone else says? If I worried about their gossip, I'd be totally burnt out and never get a moment of peace."
"Suit yourself. Eat or don't, makes no difference to me," Kaia said, grabbing her fork to keep eating.
A whole minute ticked by, and Tobias still wouldn't stop staring at her.
