Kaia curled her lips into a reckless grin. "Didn't you just brag about how you weren't like those losers? It seems you're even more pathetic than the thugs you command."
"How dare you humiliate me!" Kiera shouted, her face darkening with rage.
Kaia let out a mocking laugh, cocking her head. "Face it, you're outmatched. I'm humiliating you—are gonna snap and bite me?"
"You… you… you…" Kiera fumed, struggling to speak a complete sentence.
"Yeah, enough with the stammering," Kaia drawled. "Listen up—if you want out, get down and beg me for it. On your knees."
She never let anyone push her around. Her rule was simple—if no one messed with her, she didn't mess with anyone. But when Kiera had her bodyguards make her kneel earlier, she'd never forget that.
"In your dreams!" Kiera roared, eyes burning with rage.
Kaia's eyes narrowed. In the blink of an eye, she yanked and twisted Kiera's arm with merciless force—dislocating it so badly that it looked like she'd nearly torn it right off.
Kiera screamed in agony, her arm dropping to her side, barely hanging on.
"So, you gonna kneel or no?" Kaia demanded, towering over Kiera.
Kiera took two ragged breaths, spun around and shouted, "What are you, a bunch of corpses just standing there? Move, now! Or do I need to have my grandpa strip every last one of you of your squad positions?"
When his men heard that, they didn't dare waste a single second—they surged forward, attacking Kaia all at once.
Kaia watched as twenty or so men rushed her, her face showing no fear. In fact, she looked excited, like she was itching for a fight.
Honestly, since Joel had been keeping her out of trouble lately, she's hardly ever gotten a chance to show what she could really do.
Fueled by alcohol and high spirits, Kaia was all in. She dove straight into the chaos without a moment's hesitation.
"You're really asking for it!" Kiera jeered, clutching her limp arm, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
Five minutes went by, and Kiera's mouth kept opening in shock. She never expected that Kaia, a girl, could handle four iron fists and hold her own so perfectly.
"Don't hold back—go all out!" Kiera shouted, "No matter how tough she is, she's still just one person and she'll tire out. When that happens, that's your chance!"
Hearing that, Kaia let out a loud laugh.
"Judging by your moves, you're all proper soldiers. Yet you're willing to act like street thugs and attack ordinary civilians. If this gets out, aren't you afraid of losing your jobs?"
Kiera's men started to waver. They hadn't wanted to fight a little girl to begin with, especially not as a group of twenty or thirty. Like she said, if this got out, their reputations would be ruined — and their jobs wouldn't be safe either.
Seeing his men hesitate, Kiera yelled, "What are you scared of? It's just us here. If you shut her up, who'll find out? Who would ever know?"
Kaia stepped on one of them and scanned the rest with a piercing look. Everyone ready to charge hesitated, frozen with fear.
"Kiera, hear me. Don't act like your grandfather's rank lets you treat people like they don't matter. Your grandfather Victor Yates was a legendary commander. If he finds out what you did, do you know what'll happen to you?"
After that fierce battle, Kaia was running low on energy. Otherwise, she wouldn't have bothered to waste words with Kiera.
"Was it Gavyn who told you about my grandfather? Seems you're special to him — he even told you this. But even if you know, what can you do?"
"You're just a nobody; you won't even get a chance to meet my grandfather. Even if you do, I'll deny it and even turn the tables on you, accusing you of framing me. So, do you think my grandfather will believe you, or me?"
