"So you're not willing? Fine! From this moment on, the Moreno family severs all ties with the Yates family!" Keaton announced, every word ice-cold and final.
"What? Are you seriously doing this over someone who's not even family? Is this really how far you're willing to go?" Victor stammered, honestly stunned that Keaton would actually say that.
"And that's not all. From this day forward, our families are mortal enemies. This grudge will never end unless your granddaughter, Kiera, gets down on her knees and begs Kaia for forgiveness. Until that happens, it's a fight to the bitter end!" Keaton's words rang out, cold and resolute.
Victor stood frozen in disbelief, while Kiera and the rest of the Yates family were absolutely shocked.
After a long moment, Victor's second younger brother Maxime Yates finally stepped out of the crowd.
He tried to mediate, "Victor, Keaton, calm down. There's no need to make such a big scene over something between the younger generation. Honestly, both sides are just sticking to their own stories, and we don't have any solid proof."
"Yeah, Maxime's got a point," the third Yates brother, Grant, quickly agreed.
"Why don't we chill for a bit, each go dig for the truth ourselves, and when we figure out what really happened, whoever was in the wrong can apologize. How's that sound?" Maxime suggested.
Victor's face was sour—he obviously trusted his own granddaughter, but as Maxime and Grant said, there's just no hard proof. Plus, the Yates and Moreno families had gotten along for ages—if they blew up their reputation over some kid drama, they'd be a total laughingstock.
"They're right. This was just a minor quarrel between the youngsters — there's no need to let things get so tense. Why don't we each investigate and find out the truth first—"
But before Victor could finish, Keaton cut him off, voice sharp and uncompromising.
"Proof? I don't need any! This is all Kiera's fault. Kaia is my future granddaughter-in-law—I know her better than any of you. You might think Kiera's some prodigy, a golden girl or whatever, but compared to Kaia, she's nothing. Do you really think Kaia would waste her time picking a fight with her? Get real — she's got better things to do!"
The whole Yates family was boiling with rage—but no one felt it harder than Kiera. If it weren't for Keaton's reputation, she would've ripped into him on the spot. She was supposed to be the star, the pride of her family, and now he had the nerve to say she was nothing compared to Kaia.
Victor panted angrily. He had already stepped back, but he never expected Keaton to say something like that.
'Wait!' He froze.
He suddenly realized something, His face went completely blank, like he'd just been struck by lightning
"What did you say? Granddaughter-in-law? Are you... are you talking about Kaia?"
That question left Kiera completely stunned.
"That's right—Kaia is officially engaged to Tobias. I made the betrothal myself just days ago! So tell me, do you still seriously think my future granddaughter-in-law would bother stealing your precious granddaughter's boyfriend?" Keaton scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain.
Victor spun toward Kiera, eyes wide. "Explain yourself! What's really going on here?"
Keaton would never make a joke about something like this—Kaia really was engaged to Tobias. But if that's the case, how would she be jealous of Gavyn or scheming against Kiera behind the scenes? It just didn't add up.
Kiera suddenly realized and said, "Now I understand why a country girl like Kaia would even know Gavyn — it's through Tobias. Kaia must have thought that Tobias isn't interested in women, doesn't like her, and that she has no chance with him. So she came to seduce Gavyn instead."
