After kicking Zane, Victor fixed his icy glare on Kiera. "You're coming with me right now to apologize to Kaia! You must kneel and kowtow to her — keep kowtowing until she's satisfied!"
Kiera stared back, stunned. "Grandpa! Are you insane? You want me to kneel and beg Kaia for forgiveness? Never! I'd rather spend the rest of my life in jail than do that!"
"Fine!" Victor snarled, grinding his teeth. "Someone take her to the police station and make her confess every single crime she's committed. With the severity of her offense, she's facing at least twenty years in prison. And when she gets out, she'll be banished from this family forever!"
Everyone who didn't know the truth was shocked speechless.
"Grandpa, you're not serious, are you?" Kiera blurted out, shaken and pale.
Victor didn't even spare Kiera a glance. He barked at his men, "What are you waiting for? Move now—do as I say! If you hesitate for even a second, you're out of this family, too."
"Yes, sir," the men replied, not daring to disobey. They hurried over to Kiera.
"Sorry, Miss," one of them said, his voice low and respectful.
"No, no, don't come near me!" Kiera shrieked, panic rising in her chest.
She used to be the one calling the shots at home, but now she was just a helpless lamb, her arms pinned as they dragged her out.
Zane and the others scrambled to intervene, begging for Kiera.
"Dad, Kiera is your own granddaughter!"
"If anyone dares to speak up for her, you're out of the family, too—no exceptions!" Victor thundered. Instantly, nobody dared utter another word.
"No! I don't want to go to jail! Grandpa, I'm sorry, I swear I'll do whatever you want! I'll kneel and kowtow to Kaia—I'll beg for her forgiveness. But please, don't send me to prison!" Kiera pleaded.
But even as those words left her mouth, deep down she was burning with hatred.
On the other hand, since Kaia's eyes wasn't very good, she just went straight to the Moreno family estate with Tobias.
She'd barely settled into bed when she heard a commotion downstairs.
"What's going on?" Kaia asked, her voice tinged with confusion.
"Kiera's here to apologize," Tobias replied.
"Oh," Kaia said, her tone flat.
"Don't worry about it. You're so badly injured—just focus on resting. Leave all that drama downstairs to me," Tobias told her, his words both caring and firm.
Just then, there was a knock at the door, and Griffin called out from the hallway.
"Kaia, come downstairs quick! Kiera's about to kneel and kowtow—her grandpa's totally lost it and said she has to keep at it until you say 'enough.' If she refuses, he's sending her straight off to jail for twenty years, and when she finally gets out, she's getting kicked out of the family forever!"
Kaia hadn't intended to get involved, but considering that Victor was an upright man who had made great contributions to protecting his family and country, she decided she had to give him face no matter what.
"Alright, I'll be right out," Kaia said.
Tobias furrowed his brow. "You just lay down to rest, and now you're heading out again?"
"It's no big deal, really," Kaia said casually.
She genuinely felt fine—aside from her eyesight still not being great and feeling a little tired, she didn't have anything else to worry about.
"Can you grab me something to wear from the closet?" Kaia asked.
Tobias saw that Kaia wasn't going to back down, so he didn't bother arguing anymore. He got up and started toward the closet, but halfway there, he stopped and glanced back at Kaia.
"Should I get your bra too?" Tobias joked, a playful glint in his eyes.
Even though Kaia couldn't see him clearly, she could instantly feel exactly where Tobias's eyes were landing.
And just as she suspected, he was absolutely caught up, admiring her curves.
That sight filled Tobias with fierce pride. This was his woman, and she didn't need any fancy push-up bras to look incredible. She was stunning all on her own, more than he could ever ask for.
"Come on, are you serious? You want me to go out there without anything on underneath?" Kaia quipped, half-exasperated, half amused.
"Forget it. That kind of show is strictly for my eyes only," Tobias shot back, his tone low and possessive.
