But now that she had taken Samantha, no way she could take both grandfather and granddaughter at the same time. 'Isn't that throwing everything into chaos?' she thought. 'How would I address him then? Grandpa, or junior?'
The thought of it made her head ache, and she couldn't help massage her temples. Seeing Kaia's reaction, Collin couldn't help but think, 'Looks like this really isn't easy for her. Maybe she just knows Ms. Unity, and they're probably not that close after all.'
"If it's really that much of a hassle for you, just ignore my request," Collin sighed and said, sounding disappointed.
"Yeah, this is indeed a little awkward, but..." Kaia hesitated, her tone changed slightly, and said, "Perhaps not apprenticeship, but showing you a few techniques."
"Really? You mean it?" Collin burst out, excited like a little kid.
Not far away, Samantha, looking at Sean and Kent, scratched the back of her head and asked, "Seriously, what do you think my master and my Grandpa are talking about over there? Why does my Grandpa behave like a kid whenever he's around her?"
Sean and Kent had long noticed it too, and they honestly couldn't make sense of it. Kaia nodded and said, "Sure, no problem with that, but not now. She's probably swamped at the moment."
She thought of arranging a meet-up with Collin as Faye after wrapping up the International Symposium on Scientific Research Exchange
"Alright! Just let me know as soon as the date is confirmed; there's no rush. I've already waited seventeen years, so waiting a little longer is fine," Collin said with a smile, playing cool, but deep down, he was burning with impatience. He actually couldn't wait to see Faye.
"Alright, that's settled then. I've got some things to take care of, so I'll head out now," Kaia said.
Just as Kaia was about to hail a taxi, Sean scampered over eagerly. "K-Kaia, where do you live? I'll give you a ride," he stammered.
Kent pursed his lips. Being Sean's buddy, he could tell right away that Sean wanted to cozy up with her.
"No, thanks. I'll just take a taxi back," Kaia said, worried that Tobias would get jealous if he saw her with him.
"No worries. It's hard to get a taxi at this hour. I'll drop you off at the entrance of your neighborhood," Sean said, thinking Kaia was concerned about her family members seeing them and getting into trouble for no reason.
Kaia looked around the street, and indeed, there wasn't a single taxi in sight. "Alright then, I'll trouble you then," she agreed and said.
"Come on, we're old friends! It's not a big deal. Get in quickly," Sean said. Kaia opened the door and slid into the back seat while Sean and Kent hopped into the driver's and passenger's seats, respectively.
"Where to?" Sean asked, tilting his head.
"Pioneer Retreat," Kaia said.
"Huh?" Sean blinked, totally thrown off.
Kaia thought he didn't hear her clearly and repeated, "Pioneer Retreat."
Sean and Kent exchanged a glance, both seeing the shock reflected in each other's eyes. "You… you mean the newly developed super expensive Pioneer Retreat?" Sean asked.
"As far as I know, there's only one Pioneer Retreat in Morganburg. Is there another one?" Kaia asked instead of answering him.
Sean and Kent gasped, thinking, 'Pioneer Retreat is one of the most exclusive, jaw-dropping luxury villa communities in all of Morganburg. Rumor has it that only the city's elites ever live there.'
Just as the two were in shock, a tap sounded on the driver's side window. "Who's that?" Sean blurted out. When he snapped out of it, rolled down the car window, and saw that incredibly handsome face slowly coming into view, his jaw practically dropped.
