Before Kaia could answer, Tobias pressed on, "Could it be that you know Ms. Unity?"
Kaia chuckled and said, "Are you always this curious? Why do you have so many questions? I just got lucky and happened to notice that one thing, that's all."
"So it was just luck," Tobias said, his eyelids half-lowered, the thick lashes hiding whatever he was really thinking. Kaia could tell Tobias didn't buy it, but she couldn't be bothered to explain herself any further.
The following day, Kaia went to the Yates family residence with Tobias.
There were a lot of people today, and when Hailey, who used to have a crush on her, saw her, a strange look flickered in her eyes.
"I think you look better in men's clothes than in women's," Hailey said, gazing at Kaia's strikingly sculpted face and sighing deep down in regret. 'If only she were born a man,' she thought.
Just then, a voice of disapproval sounded. "I think Miss Bennett looks better dressed as a woman. Furthermore, combined with that naturally cool and aloof aura of hers, she's like a snow lotus blooming on the peak of an icy mountain."
'Who the hell is that? Why must you disagree with me?' Hailey thought. When she turned around, she only found herself looking at an annoyingly good-looking pretty boy.
When she looked closer, she realized it was her childhood friend, Carson Goodwin. "You—how did you become so freaking fair? Don't tell me you're wearing foundation?" she blurted out.
'Did he smear it all over, even his toes? Otherwise, how could he be this fair from head to toe?' Hailey wondered.
To confirm her suspicion, she immediately reached out and started rubbing and pinching Carson's face. However, she didn't get even the slightest trace of foundation on her fingers. Not only that, his skin was incredibly smooth.
"You—you, what the heck is this?" Hailey asked.
Carson was quite pleased with Hailey's reaction. He glanced at Kaia and said, "It's Miss Bennett, the miracle doctor, who cured my hereditary disease of dark complexion."
"She cured your face? She could even cure something like that?" Hailey exclaimed; she was so shocked that her jaw nearly dropped.
After pausing for a while, Hailey poked and pinched Carson's face again. She even leaned super close, blew right in his face, then kept rubbing, determined to spot some tricks.
The sweet scent from the girl's breath nearly froze Carson's blood. He stood rooted to the spot, heart pounding wildly, and his fair, delicate face was now flushed with a rosy hue.
Kaia covered her mouth and slipped by with a stifled laugh, casting Carson a little look of encouragement as she walked past. Carson instantly understood, his eyes filled with gratitude as he looked at her.
Before Kaia got far, she picked up on someone shadowing her. She suddenly turned around, just in time to see Kiera's hand darting out toward her.
"What're you trying to do?" Kaia asked coldly and sharply.
Kiera flinched, caught off guard by Kaia's sudden surge of intimidation. This made her feel tremendously annoyed.
She came from a distinguished military family, yet more than once, she had been intimidated by Kaia's overwhelming presence. Grinding her molars in frustration, she swallowed her irritation.
"This is my house. Do you really think I'd be dumb enough to cause a scene and go after you before everyone's eyes?" Kiera scoffed.
Kaia nodded, smirking, and said, "Exactly. Besides, you know you're not my match. You must've been out of your mind if you even tried."
Those words made Kiera furious, but things got worse when Kaia added, "So you're planning to strike from behind and hurt me in secret?"
"You—" Kiera's face flushed with rage as she jabbed a trembling finger at Kaia, her finger tips shaking with fury.
