"No need," Victor cut in.
"But Victor, Kiera's obviously out to make Dr. Bennett look bad!" Grant said.
Victor picked up his coffee, took a sip, and looked straight at Kaia. "Guess you've forgotten what happened three years ago, when Dr. Bennett nailed the gun right out of the villain's hand," he said.
"I remember, I do, but she only took one shot back then. It could've just been good luck. But this time, it's ten shots, whole different ball game!" Grant said.
As soon as Grant finished talking, Kiera held her gun and resumed firing at the target. "Bang! Bang! Bang!" She fired another ninety shots in a row—only three hit the nine bullseyes, one hit eight, and the rest were all perfect tens.
"Oh my god, she's a total legend! That was insane!" someone exclaimed.
"Absolute sharpshooter!" another added.
"Sharpshooter!" somebody commented.
"Kiera, you're seriously badass!"
The crowd was losing their minds; everyone was fired up, blood pumping, staring at Kiera like she was some legendary heroine coming to life.
Gavyn smacked his forehead, looking totally devastated. "We're doomed. Kiera's level just went insane—she hit ninety-six perfect tens out of a hundred shots. Is she even human? Did a sharpshooter get reborn in her or what?" he said.
When Gavyn finished speaking, he noticed Tobias was still as chill as ever. "Why do you look so calm? After seeing everything just now, do you really think Kaia can still pull off a win?" he asked.
Tobias nodded and said, "Yes, I know she'll win."
"Just because she's your woman?" Gavyn asked, a wry smile tugging at his lips. Tobias just grinned; his answer was obvious. Gavyn couldn't help but roll his eyes.
Kiera put her gun down, chin held high and strutting like a victorious rooster, her eyes blazing with blatant pride as she looked at Kaia.
"Kaia, looks like your luck isn't good today, while I'm blessed by the universe or something. I went way above my usual game—shot a hundred times and hit 96 perfect tens. No way you're winning this round," Kiera said proudly.
Beneath her rebellious brows, Kaia's beautiful eyes stayed perfectly calm—not even a flicker of emotion could be seen. "What makes you so sure that I'm losing today?" Kaia retorted.
"Well, well! Looks like you're not convinced, huh? Even after all that, you're still putting on a brave face. Kaia, Kaia, should I be awed by your guts, or laugh at how clueless and fearless you are?" Kiera sneered.
Kaia just calmly tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ears, not even blinking at Kiera's taunts. With a cocky, playful tone, she said, "Beating you is nothing, really. But honestly, this is way too boring. How about we spice things up—wanna make a bet?" she asked.
Kiera looked like she had just heard a joke she had never heard before and let out a loud, unfiltered laugh.
When she finally stopped laughing, she cranked up her voice and yelled, "Kaia, are you trying to kill me with that joke? With my hit rate, you think you've got a shot at winning?"
With Kiera leading the way, everyone cracked up, joining in the laughter. "Did you guys hear that? Kaia says she can beat Kiera? She's gotta be kidding herself," someone said.
"Isn't this daydreaming in broad daylight, huh? Guess she picked the perfect time for some wishful thinking," another commented.
"That's a bit harsh!" someone said, laughing heartily.
Just as they were cracking up, they suddenly felt a bone-chilling stare cut through the noise. When they turned around, they saw Tobias giving them a look colder than ice—like daggers. Laughter died on the spot; everyone clammed up, scared stiff.
