Kaia raised her gun and unleashed a storm of bullets, one after another. The shots were so rapid that the crowd barely caught a glimpse of her movements. The relentless gunfire left everyone stunned, their ears ringing as each bullet landed precisely in a different position.
However, nobody dared to mock or jeer this time.
With every shot, the outline of two letters gradually appeared on the target.
"Y"
"K"
That was right. It was the abbreviation of Kiera's name written in reverse.
Not a single bullet missed, none was wasted. The two letters were crisp and clear, displayed for everyone to see.
Kaia's marksmanship was otherworldly. Every shot struck true, and her rapid-fire technique blew everyone's minds. Kaia's gun skills were on a whole different level compared to Kiera.
Everyone at the scene was utterly stunned by Kaia's marksmanship. They stood frozen like statues, eyes glued to the target, unable to say a word.
Somebody gulped, and soon the whole crowd was filled with the sounds of sharp inhales and astonished gasps.
"Bravo! Kaia is seriously on another level!" Gavyn exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear. He'd always admired Kaia deep down, but now his respect was off the charts. Words couldn't explain it.
He slapped Tobias on the shoulder and joked, "Tobias, if you don't hold on tight to Kaia, I'm cutting you off as my friend, man!"
Tobias's lips curled into a smile, his eyes full of Kaia. There was no space for anyone else.
"Trust me," Tobias said, "I'd stake my life on keeping her by my side for the rest of my days."
"Now that's the spirit!" Gavyn grinned.
Some people were riding high with excitement, while others were down in the dumps. Those folks who had been cozying up to Kiera and talking trash about Kaia earlier now looked like they wished they could crawl into a mouse hole and disappear.
"Terrific!" Victor shouted, breaking out into enthusiastic applause.
Grant and Maxime jumped in, too, clapping along without hesitation.
Victor strode over to Kaia. He looked at Kiera and said, "Your name's up there—backward. Time to pay up and hold up your end of the deal."
"Grandpa!" Kiera cried out, her voice thick with reluctance.
"What? Thinking about backing out?" Victor's face lost all warmth. "In the Yates family, we're straight shooters. Once we say it, it's set in stone. Are you planning on going back on your word before everyone? If you are, pack your bags and leave the Yates family. We don't keep liars in the Yates family!"
Kiera could tell Victor wasn't playing around.
However, she was sure Victor wasn't doing it to help Kaia. He cared about his pride. She'd made the bet with Kaia in front of half the world. If she bailed now, it'd be Victor's reputation on the line.
Upon thinking of that, Kiera shot Kaia a venomous glare, grinding her teeth, saying, "Fine. I'll honor the bet. Don't get too full of yourself."
Kaia gave a cold, taunting laugh. "Face it, you're my lackey now. I say jump, you ask how high. What right do you have to bargain with me?"
"You...!" Kiera started, trembling with frustration.
"Save it. I've heard enough empty roaring for one day," Kaia dismissed Kiera coolly.
Kaia's words almost made Kiera choke on her anger.
"Here's some advice," Kaia said, voice frosty. "If you want your life to stay easy, better start keeping your head down, at least before me. Otherwise, I'll show you what the word 'excessive' looks like."
Kiera was furious, but no matter how much she hated it, she was stuck swallowing her pride and bowing her head.
Watching Kiera mellow out, Kaia reached over and ruffled her hair like petting a puppy. Half-smiling, she said, "Nice. It's good to know you can read the room. Maybe there's hope for you, after all."
