Kaia noticed Collin's furrowed brow and understood exactly what was troubling him.
She said, "Don't overthink it. My previous offer still stands. While I can't formally take you as my disciple, I can still teach you. There's really no practical difference."
Collin considered this and realized she was right.
It didn't matter which family member became Kaia's student. At least Ms. Unity could still mentor him, which was far better than his previous fear of never meeting her at all.
Gradually, Collin's expression softened into a smile. "You're absolutely right. I suppose I was being rather inflexible in my thinking."
"As long as you understand now." Kaia checked her watch. "It's getting late. Shall we go for dinner?"
Collin nodded. "Perfect. I actually have some questions about painting techniques we can discuss over the meal."
"Sounds good." Kaia agreed and walked out with Collin.
In the main hall, Melvin and the other two were still anxiously watching the corridor, but there was no sign of Ms. Unity.
"Why hasn't Ms. Unity come out yet? Could the information be wrong?" Andrea asked, her brow furrowed with worry.
Melvin glanced toward the manager at the front desk, who was still sweating nervously, his head turning constantly with obvious anxiety.
Melvin said, "Look how agitated he is. The information can't be false. Patience is key. Let's wait a bit longer."
Emma nodded in agreement. "Yes, we'll wait. We must meet Ms. Unity today. If we can get her to paint for our family, the Bennett family's status will surely rise. Perhaps important figures might even contact us for collaborations."
Since both grandparents agreed, Andrea couldn't object and obediently nodded. "Alright, I'll follow your lead."
Emma looked genuinely pleased. "That's my good girl."
Just as she finished speaking, Emma noticed something from the corner of her eye, and her face immediately darkened.
"Grandma, what's wrong?" Andrea asked, confused, then followed Emma's gaze.
When she saw Kaia, an indescribable fear rose within her. "So that's why Kaia is here. Mr. Crawford is with her."
After everything that had happened, Andrea knew better than to provoke Kaia again. To protect her student status, she didn't dare cause trouble...
Hearing that Kaia was with Collin, Emma immediately recalled the strange and mocking looks they'd received at Collin's art exhibition.
Instantly, feelings of humiliation and anger surged within her, making Emma's face turn sour.
"Look at that wretched girl standing there so proudly with Mr. Crawford, as if she wants everyone to know she's connected to him! I know her. She must have learned we're here and deliberately brought Collin over to flaunt it in our faces!"
The more Emma spoke, the angrier she became. "I can't stand seeing her so smug. I need to go give her a piece of my mind."
Her face dark with fury, Emma stood up and marched determinedly toward Kaia and Collin.
Melvin frowned and quickly pulled her back to her seat. "Enough. As hateful as Kaia is, now isn't the time for this. Our priority is Ms. Unity. Don't lose sight of what's important over something minor. Once we connect with Ms. Unity, dealing with Kaia will be simple."
Emma's anger subsided slightly. "You're right. The urgent matter is meeting Ms. Unity. As for Kaia, we can deal with her later."
Just as they finished speaking, they saw the manager, who had been sitting at the front desk, suddenly stand up and hurry excitedly toward Kaia and Collin.
His face was eager, his posture suggesting he wished he could grow wings and fly directly to them.
Emma watched, bewildered. "Why is he so suddenly excited?"
"Isn't it obvious? It must be because of Collin," Melvin said, glancing at Kaia and snorting contemptuously. "It couldn't possibly be because of that useless girl."
However, what happened next would prove Melvin completely wrong.
The manager rushed over, but his attention went not to Collin, but directly to Kaia.
"I... I've finally found you!" he stammered, overcome with emotion.
Quickly composing himself, he explained with a beaming smile. "When I was in my office earlier, the security guard informed me you had arrived. The moment I heard, I dropped everything to welcome you personally. But when I came out, you were already gone. I didn't know which room you were in, and I didn't dare check the surveillance to disturb you.
"And I've already alerted our boss. He was thrilled to hear you were here and insisted I must keep you here. Could you wait for just a moment? He's taking his private jet back immediately. He said he absolutely must have dinner with you tonight, otherwise he probably won't be able to sleep."
Melvin and the other two witnessed this scene with shocked expressions, though confusion dominated their reactions.
"Why... why is the manager treating Kaia with such respect? He even bypassed Collin to greet her first?" A sense of foreboding rose in Andrea's heart, her face turning pale.
Emma also found it strange. "Yes, why would the manager show Kaia such respect?"
"I'll go ask." Suppressing his complicated emotions, Melvin approached the manager with a smile.
"Excuse me, could you spare a moment? I have a quick question for you," Melvin said.
The manager frowned and refused directly. "I'm busy attending to our honored guest right now. I don't have time for your questions. Please wait until I'm available."
Melvin hadn't expected the manager to dismiss him so rudely, especially in front of Kaia. His aged face flushed red with humiliation.
"I just have one quick question. It won't take much of your time," Melvin pleaded.
The manager hesitated, glancing subconsciously toward Kaia.
Knowing what Melvin wanted to ask, Kaia didn't interfere and waved her hand at the manager. "It's fine, you can go. I'll wait here for a moment."
Only after receiving her permission did the manager follow Melvin to a spot nearby. "Sir, we've moved aside. You may ask your question now."
Melvin glanced toward Kaia, then looked back at the manager and asked in a low voice only they could hear. "Why are you showing Kaia such respect? Does she have some connection to your Serene Coffee Lounge?"
She said, "Don't overthink it. My previous offer still stands. While I can't formally take you as my disciple, I can still teach you. There's really no practical difference."
