Kaia smirked and shot him an approving glance. "You weren't bad. Quick reaction, good coordination."
Tobias, as if remembering something, spoke with a hint of caution in his voice. "Kaia... about me coming out to meet her alone, you're not angry, are you?
"Let me be clear first, even though we're childhood sweethearts, I absolutely have no feelings for her in that way. Please don't misunderstand."
Kaia shot him a glance. "If it were you, wouldn't you be upset?"
Her words made Tobias's eyes suddenly light up, sparks of excitement flickering in his gaze. "Kaia, I'm so happy. That you would get angry and jealous over this means you love me very much, too."
Kaia arched her delicate brows, smirking. "So, are you saying you met up with her just to make me jealous?"
"Not at all. Listen to my explanation." Tobias explained everything truthfully. "Actually, I originally didn't plan to come meet her. But she told me she brought back some things I forgot when I was studying abroad. Those things hold a lot of sentimental value for me, so I came out to meet her."
After finishing, he leaned close to Kaia, deliberately breathing near her ear, "Kaia, after hearing my explanation, are you still angry?"
Kaia smiled faintly. "You don't really think I'm that petty, do you? Don't be nervous, I was just joking with you earlier."
The heavy stone in Tobias's heart instantly fell, and he exaggeratedly patted his chest in front of Kaia. "You scared me to death. I thought you were angry, thinking I was cheating. The moment I saw you in the restaurant, I had even decided to kneel."
Kaia's smile grew even wider. "You sure have a wild imagination, don't you?"

Kaia rolled her eyes dramatically, speechless. "When will you ever fix this glib tongue of yours?"

"Can't be bothered with you." Kaia turned her head away.
Tobias rushed over, eager to coax her back with his usual sweet talk.
Grace watched the two talking as if no one else was around, completely treating her like air. She bit her lip tightly, her nails digging deep into her flesh without her noticing.
Back when she and Tobias were studying abroad together, she'd dropped plenty of hints and flirted with him whenever she got the chance.
But Tobias was always ice-cold, shutting her out no matter how hard she tried.
