Kaia was baffled. "Apologize?"
Tobias sat down on the edge of her bed, his gaze soft and tender. "Yes. Even though I only met Grace today to retrieve my belongings from abroad, I still met with her privately behind your back. So, I thought I'd come over and give you a massage to make it up to you."
"But I already told you, I don't blame you," Kaia said, then a thoughtful glint appeared in her beautiful eyes as she looked at him. "I get it. Are you using the massage as an excuse to take advantage of me?"
Tobias couldn't help but laugh. "Do I seem like that kind of person? I just thought you might be tired after rushing over to 'catch' me today, so I wanted to give you a massage to help you relax."
Kaia studied him for a moment. "Alright, I'll trust you this time—even if I'm not totally convinced."
She then lay face down on the bed. "Go on, then."
Tobias took off his shoes, moved onto the bed, and began kneading her shoulders with gentle, meticulous movements.
"Kaia, how's the pressure? Is it good?" Tobias asked.
Kaia squinted with satisfaction, looking totally relaxed and soaking up every bit of it.
"Pretty good. Don't stop," she told him.
"Okay." Initially, Tobias focused properly on the massage.
But, breathing in the faint fragrance from her hair, his mind began to wander uncontrollably.
Feeling his hands getting a bit too bold, Kaia sprang up from the bed and caught his unruly hand in hers. "Didn't you say you wouldn't try anything? So what do you call this?"
Tobias, feigning innocence, clasped her hand in return, enveloping it tightly in his own. "I'm a normal man. Having such a beautiful wife right in front of me... isn't it normal to feel impulses?"
Kaia rolled her eyes dramatically. "If you can't keep your promise, then you shouldn't have made it. Stop trying to twist the logic."
Tobias parted his thin lips, about to speak, but Kaia cut him off. "I was in the lab running experiments all day today. I'm tired and want to rest. You should go back to your room and stop bothering me here."
Seeing the weariness reflected in Kaia's eyes, Tobias didn't press further. "Alright then, Kaia. Goodnight."
Kaia let out a sleepy yawn. "Goodnight."
The next day, on the way to the office, Tobias suddenly asked, "Devin, know any fun spots lately? Somewhere Kaia and I could go together?"
"Fun spots?" Devin thought for a moment, then his eyes lit up as an idea popped into his head. "Why not take Miss Bennett to a hot spring?"
"A hot spring?" Tobias echoed.
"You bet! The hot spring pool at that Pioneer Retreat has a fantastic atmosphere. Every couple that goes there, their relationship heats up intensely. It's incredibly sweet," Devin said with a wink.
Hearing such words from a single guy like Devin was quite a surprise to Tobias. He shot him a curious glance. "From the way you're talking, you seem to know a lot about it? Have you been?"
Devin looked embarrassed and quickly explained, "No, not me! I don't have a girlfriend, so who would I go to a couples' hot spring with? It was my cousin and his wife. Their relationship was pretty lukewarm before.
"Everyone thought they were headed for divorce. But after they visited that hot spring, my cousin's wife got pregnant. They got married because of the baby, had a healthy boy, and now their relationship is super sweet, inseparable."
"Is it really that magical?" Tobias asked, stroking his chin thoughtfully.
