"Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant." The director gave Kaia several thumbs-up. "Kaia, nobody but you could have cracked this. If you hadn't swooped in, my last few hairs would've just given up from all the stress."
"You nailed it, too. The casting and props are exactly how I pictured them from the novel. I was right to trust you with this scene," Kaia said, shooting the director a look of real appreciation.
The director was no spring chicken, but Kaia's compliment actually brought a blush to his face.
"Your approval is all I need. I'll keep pushing myself," he replied with a grin.
"No need to stress, just keep up the good work," Kaia said with a gentle smile, getting up from her seat.
"I'm gonna hit the bathroom. You handle things here for now, and once I'm back, I'll help make any tweaks we need," Kaia said.
The director nodded. "Understood, Kaia."
Kaia nodded slightly and went to the bathroom. As she was about to step out, she caught the sound of people chatting in the corridor.
"Come on, that stuff online has got to be fake, right? There's no way Amara Moonriver is like that."
"Exactly. It must be someone jealous of her talent, deliberately slandering her. No, I can't let her be insulted like this. I'm logging into my main account to speak up for her."
"I advise you not to get involved. The fact that someone managed to gather so many videos and photos suggests this isn't baseless. If you get involved, you might end up getting dragged into the mess."
"But don't you think Gavyn is unusually good to Amara Moonriver? Could there really be something going on between them?"
Just as the discussion was heating up, Kaia's voice suddenly sounded beside them.
"Are you guys talking about me?" Kaia asked.
The group was startled. Their faces paled dramatically when they saw Kaia standing there.
The lead actress among them was so frightened she dropped her phone on the floor.
Kaia bent down, picked up the fallen phone, and looked at the screen displaying photos, videos, and a comments section filled with vitriol. She raised an eyebrow. "The photoshop skills here are really quite shoddy."
Seeing Kaia react to the scandalous news about herself online, not with anger, but with calm commentary, everyone was astonished.
"Kaia, aren't you angry at all seeing these things?"
"Yeah, they're slandering and smearing you like this. It's too much. These rumormongers should be rounded up and sent to the police station. Do they really think they can do whatever they want on the Internet?"
"Exactly. Acting all tough behind a keyboard doesn't take any real guts."
Kaia didn't directly respond to their comments. Instead, she handed the phone back to the lead actress.
"The next scene is about to start shooting. Get ready and come to the set when you're prepared," Kaia said plainly, not missing a beat.
With that, she left the corridor and headed back towards the soundstage.
As they watched her leave, someone couldn't help but whisper, "She's a total master. Her mental game is on another level."
"If I encountered something like this, I'd have fallen apart long ago. I could never be that calm. You really have to admit, she is truly remarkable."
"Alright, that's enough talk. Hurry up and get ready for the shoot, or the director will definitely yell at us."
