"Do you even know who you were slandering online?" the bodyguard sneered.
Leo shook his head frantically. "I swear, I really don't know."
Before he could finish, a brutal kick sent Leo flying, slamming him hard into the ground.
Tobias's voice cut through the air. "You've got the guts to lay a finger on my woman? You got a death wish."
Leo, a businessman, had once been lucky enough to attend a Moreno family ribbon-cutting event, where he'd glimpsed Morganburg's legendary tycoon, Tobias. The instant recognition dawned\; his body went stiff with dread, completely shaken to his core.
"Mr. Moreno?" Leo blurted out.
Tobias's lips tugged into a thin, icy smile, his eyes filled with freezing frost. "That's right. At least you've got the sense to recognize me."
Leo finally understood just whom he'd pissed off. Sheer panic seized him. He practically crawled to Tobias's feet, groveling desperately, slamming his head to the ground as he begged for mercy.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Moreno. I must've been blind. If I'd known she was your wife, I wouldn't have done it or even thought about it. Please, Mr. Moreno, you gotta believe me. I never would've dared." Leo babbled.
Tobias stared him down, eyes frigid and sharp. "You want me to let you off? Fine. But you'll do exactly what I say. Help me catch the bastard behind all this. Only then might you walk out of here alive."
"Anything. Whatever you need to know, just ask, I'll tell you everything I can, I swear." Leo blurted out, his whole body rattling with fear, nearly faceplanted at Tobias's feet, desperate to stay alive.
Tobias grilled him with a barrage of questions about money transfers and the online smear campaign, and Leo spilled everything.
When he finally finished, Leo threw Tobias a desperate, pitiful glance.
"Mr. Moreno, I-I swear that's everything. Please, can you just let me go?" Leo pleaded.
Tobias shot him a cold, sidelong look, eyes sharp as frost.
"Shut up and stay right there. We'll deal with you once we drag out whoever's pulling the strings," Tobias said.
Leo felt like crying, regretting his greed so much he wished he could go back and knock some sense into himself.
Now, he'd gone and ticked off a monster he never should have messed with. At this point, he might as well have dug his own grave.
As they were talking, Devin strode over, bent down, and quietly murmured something to Tobias.
Tobias looked up at him. "Are you sure?"
Devin nodded with absolute conviction.
"The evidence is rock solid," Devin confirmed.
Tobias's eyes flashed with determination. "To the Adkins estate."
"Yes," Devin replied.
Devin and Tobias left the abandoned warehouse together.

At the Adkins estate, Ezekiel and his wife, Delilah, were chatting over coffee.
Suddenly, the butler hurried over and whispered in Ezekiel's ear, "Sir, Mr. Moreno is at the door. He says he wants to see you."
Ezekiel was startled, a trace of surprise appearing in his eyes. "Tobias? Did he say why he's here?"
Although their Adkins family had cooperated with the Moreno family in recent years, most of the time, he was the one seeking out Tobias to discuss matters.
For Tobias to actively come to him like this was a first, which made him feel somewhat surprised.
The butler shook his head. "Mr. Moreno didn't say... and I didn't dare ask."
Ezekiel thought that made sense and promptly said to the butler, "Then quickly invite Tobias in!"
"Yes," he replied.
The butler left quickly. Ezekiel instructed the servant beside him, "Prepare the finest coffee and wash some fresh fruit to serve. Perhaps his personal visit today is to discuss a major business deal with our family!"
Ezekiel felt he had figured out the truth. He was just curious. How big a deal could it be to warrant the head of the Moreno family coming to see him in person?
The more he thought about it, the more excited he got.
