Tobias glanced at Grace, his voice cold as he spoke, "Finding out the truth is simple. We just need to trace which account the funds from this branch company flowed into. Then everything will be clear."
Grace's face paled instantly, and her fingers subconsciously clenched.
Ezekiel felt this matter was serious and immediately said, "I'll send someone to investigate right away."
"No need," Tobias said, pulling out another file from Devin.
"No need." Tobias took another document from Devin. "I've already investigated it for you. This is the account the funds flowed into."
Ezekiel took the document and scrutinized it carefully. The account the funds had entered was under a name he had never seen before.
After being silent for about two or three seconds, he looked at Tobias and asked, puzzled, "Tobias, so what exactly do you mean by bringing these things, asking for my daughter by name, and saying those things? What exactly has happened?"
No extra emotion showed on Tobias's face, but his tone carried a chilling coldness. "Starting last night, my fiancée has been attacked online. I've now confirmed it was orchestrated. I traced the IP address used to hire the trolls attacking my fiancée back to your residence."
The evidence was laid bare. There was no longer any room for denial. In an instant, Ezekiel and Delilah shot piercing looks at Grace, demanding answers.
"Grace, what do you have to say for yourself now?" Ezekiel pressed.
They felt the evidence Tobias provided and his words were definitely not baseless.
Therefore, in summary, the problem most likely lay with their daughter.
A flicker of guilt passed through Grace's eyes, but soon, this guilt was suppressed again, replaced by intense grievance. "Mom, Dad, I'm being wronged! It wasn't me! You know what I've been like since I was a child, don't you? How could I do such a thing?"
As she spoke, her eyes reddened, she sniffled, and looked pitifully at Tobias. "Tobias, I admit I have feelings for you and really wanted to be with you. But since you already have a fiancée, I have to let it go. I could never play the homewrecker or steal someone else's man. Even though it's hard for me to let go, I swear that I would absolutely not do such a despicable thing."
Hearing her tearful plea, Ezekiel and Delilah wavered, starting to believe her.
"Tobias," Ezekiel ventured, "perhaps we should investigate this jointly? There might be a misunderstanding."
"Yeah, I just can't believe Grace would ever do something like that," Delilah added.
Tobias, expecting her denial, was prepared. "Devin. Bring him in."
"Yes, Sir." Devin left and returned with a man in a suit – Wang Yicheng, manager of the Adkins branch company.
The newcomer was Easton Douglas, manager of the Adkins Group's branch office.
Tobias looked over at Easton, his tone calm. "Mr. Douglas, spill everything you know."
Easton wiped his sweaty forehead and shot a furtive look over at Grace.
Grace noticed Easton's glance right away, her heart skipping a beat as she masked her nerves and fired back a warning glare.
"Why are you staring at me? I have nothing to do with this," she snapped.
Hearing her disavowal, Easton panicked. "Miss Adkins... you..."
Ezekiel glanced between Grace and Easton, then fixed his gaze on Easton. "Mr. Douglas, out with it. Now."
Easton took a deep breath. Realizing Grace wasn't going to protect him, he gave up hope and started to tell the whole story of what had happened. "That afternoon, Miss Adkins came to me and told me to transfer three million dollars to an account..."
