Maxwell walked up to Kaia, his eyes shining with fascination as he stared at her flawless face.
'God, she's beautiful. Just unreal,' he thought to himself.
From a distance, she had seemed alluring and mysterious. But up close, he realized her beauty was truly beyond words.
Kaia swept a glance over Mason, noticing him staring at her transfixed. A flicker of displeasure crossed her eyes. "Can I help you?"
Her crisp, clear voice, like a babbling brook, washed over Mason, making his heart flutter uncontrollably.
Snapping back to reality, he looked at Kaia with intense eagerness. "Miss, here all by yourself? I'm a local from Pioneer. How about I show you around? Be your guide?"
"No need." Kaia turned her head away, clearly unwilling to engage with him.
But Mason wasn't annoyed. A beauty was still a beauty, even when angry. "Give it a try. The places I'll take you are guaranteed to be the best spots in Pioneer. You'll love them."
Kaia gave him a sidelong glance but didn't respond.
Just then, a group of people passed by. Seeing the scene, they started excitedly gossiping.
"Isn't that Mr. Munoz? He's gotten even handsomer since the last time I saw him."
"He's rich and good-looking. That girl he's hitting on is so lucky. I'm so jealous."
"Speaking of which, the Munoz family is probably the wealthiest in Pioneer, right? And he's so handsome. I'd be willing even if it was just for fun."
The snarky gossip around only made Mason's ego soar even higher. "Miss, you heard them, right? How about considering being with me? If you're with me, given my family background, I'd definitely treat you well."
His lackeys, Luke and Charlie, chimed in.
"No joke, if you get with Mason, you'll never have a single worry," Logan said.
"Absolutely. Gourmet food, fancy drinks, and those five or six-figure designer bags and jewelry? You could snap 'em up whenever you feel like it," Ethan added.
"He isn't just loaded, he's drop-dead gorgeous. Honestly, you and him together? Total couple goals. You two are a perfect match," Logan hyped him up.
Seeing Mason's persistence, Kaia thought for a moment and said, "I have a boyfriend."
Mason burst out laughing.
"Oh, come on. The 'I have a boyfriend' excuse? Trust me, I've heard it a million times, and nine times out of ten, I wouldn't bother pushing it when a girl says that. But you're exactly my type, and honestly, you're driving me crazy here. If you don't give me your number, I won't get a wink of sleep." Mason grinned.
Kaia's eyes were filled with impatience, clearly not wanting to waste any more breath on someone like Mason.
"I really do have a boyfriend. He's way richer and way better-looking than you," she said coolly.
With that, she turned to leave, but Mason moved to block her path. "If your boyfriend is so great, call him over! Let everyone have a look. I really wanna see what kind of guy could possibly outclass me."
Just then, Tobias came back from parking the car and spotted a blond-haired guy with his posse crowding around Kaia.
His eyes grew cold, and without hesitation, he whipped out his phone and dialed a number.
"Bring some guys over," he ordered.
*****
Kaia narrowed her beautiful but dangerous eyes.
