Tobias paused his actions to check on Kaia. "Kaia, are you okay?"
Kaia took the opportunity to pull back, her face as red as a ripe apple. "How can you even ask? Why so rough? Are you part animal?"
"Sorry, I just can't help myself when it comes to you," Tobias muttered, his brows knit together in frustration.
Seeing his posture, clearly ready to kiss her again, Kaia quickly spoke up to stop him.
"That's enough. We can't keep fooling around," she said.
She had clearly felt the pent-up, powerful energy radiating from the man's entire body just moments before.
'If this keeps up, we're seriously going to lose control,' Kaia worried to herself.
Tobias steadied his ragged breath. Looking at Kaia's shy and embarrassed expression, he couldn't help but curl his lips into a smile. "Alright, I'll behave. Should I give you another massage with the oil?"
"Forget it!" Kaia looked as if she had seen right through him. "I don't need to think twice to know you'd just try to take advantage again. You stay up here and cool off. I'm going back into the spring. You can come down after you've calmed down."
Tobias considered it. In his current state, getting into the hot spring with Kaia was definitely playing with fire.
If he didn't get a grip, he'd probably end up crossing a line and piss her off, so for now, he'd better play it safe and stick to the lounge chair.
"Alright, go ahead," he said.
Kaia leaned back against the edge of the hot spring, her eyes slipping shut as she just let herself unwind.
In the quiet of the spring, the subtle fragrance of roses wafted around her. Kaia thought to herself, 'This place is like a little slice of heaven.'
In the afternoon, after their soak, Kaia and Tobias ate at a restaurant near the hotel and walked back hand in hand.
Feeling the warmth transmitted from his palm, Kaia felt utterly uncomfortable because they weren't just holding hands; their fingers were interlaced.
"Maybe we should let go and just walk next to each other. This is making me kinda awkward," Kaia said.
She found it too lovey-dovey for her and wasn't quite used to it.
"Kaia, we're engaged. Once we're married, we'll do much more intimate things. You should try to overcome this now, get used to it. It won't take long to feel natural," Tobias teased.
Kaia was always true to her nature. Since she had decided to be with Tobias, she found his words reasonable. "Then... let's keep holding hands like this for now. Step by step, take it slow."
Tobias smiled. "Yeah."
Back in their room, just as Kaia was about to take a nap, she noticed Tobias fiddling with something.
She sat up and peered in his direction. "What are you busy with?"
Tobias subtly shifted his back to block her view. "Just go take a nap. Don't mind me. I'll take you somewhere when you wake up."
Kaia raised her delicate, faint eyebrows. "Are you planning another surprise for me?"
"Yes, it's a surprise. So stop looking, or it won't be a surprise anymore." Tobias admitted and lowered his head to continue his work.
Kaia didn't look anymore and lay back down on the bed. "Go on, you get everything set. I'm tired and need a nap."
"Okay. I'll tell you when I'm ready." Tobias responded and looked down to confirm he hadn't missed anything.
After checking repeatedly that everything was in the backpack, he zipped it up and started preparing other things.
Gradually, the sky darkened, and Kaia woke from her nap.
She yawned lazily and was momentarily stunned to see him still in the room. "Where exactly are you taking me? Why is the preparation taking so long?"
